Hi there,

I am going into my first live tournament this Friday at the Crown in Melbourne !!
Excited and nervous. The buy in is $175 ($140 + $35) with 10k stacks.

has anyone played in this tourney or similar ones live? What can I expect and any good advice will be appreciated.

Thanks :)

Live is 2x the stress as online. You are surrounded by the pomp and circumstance of the tourney. And those faces you do not deal with online, the noise, the mouths, all the craziness that humans bring with them are now only feet away from you.

Some will be very calm and professional, watching more than talking. Others will be as irritating as your worst nightmares. Always someone you will have dreams of murdering over and over after the tourney.

That is live poker. It is pressured. It is people. And a lot of tourneys do not have clocks. Some are irritatingly SLOW! I like playing real poker with real poker players. I do not enjoy FOOLS any time any where.

Playing live tourney poker has proven to me more than any other activity in my life that I AM NOT a serial killer. The temptation and desire to kill was there but my good side has always resisted. ;)

Enjoy your tourney. Hopefully you will be successful enough not to give up poker forever. :lmao:

God bless...

Dealt ak clubs in utg +2. 3 bet. 2 callers.
Flop k34 rainbow. Bet pot. One caller
Turn k rainbow again.
Over bet pot. Old guy still calls....
River brick 5. Or so I thought.
I go all in. He calls. Turns over A2 !!!!
I thought maybe he had 33 or 44.
How the hell did he keep calling for nearly all his chips. It was early stages of tourney
