the problem is like always poker sites dont get the right punishment so as long as it like this nothing will change. i mean you play for real money and there is no excuse for cheating.
The 'excuse' for cheating is what it always has been when it comes to '
gambling'. The recipe that mixes gambling with money creates 'cheating' - just one of the by-products. Cheating usually becomes obvious because of greed, so simply keep your eyes open and be aware that it exists - live and online.
Even though they can't be regulated by the U.S. they are still regulated by the people who play in the U.S. They want our money, and there's a lot of it. If they allow cheating to happen then they will start to lose our money because poker players are a tight nit group that talk on sites such as CC. You have about the same chance to be taken online that you do in a casino. I don't feel threatened in the least.
I don't feel threatened either, but then, I don't play high enough stakes to be concerned and only play Real Money with cash won through my internet play. A 'few' players may avoid a site because of some 'bad press', but there really are not enough players involved in groups/forums like CC. The percentrage is really very small, imo.
A show like 60 Minutes will only have a small impact on a site's survival. AP and UB are still quite visible in the
online poker market, even after forums, articles and news reports proved to people that players had been cheated out of what? some
20 million dollars.
Even the sites that do not accept US players do quite well without us. So really, in the whole scope of online poker, how much do you think the US player really influences offshore poker operations?
