Sunday afternoon marked the finale of Full Tilt Poker
’s Challenge Durrrr promotion, but there was some controversy as to who was the actual winner of the competition.

The Challenge Durrrr promotion was a chance for one of Full Tilt Poker's players to step up and take on Tom “durrrr” Dwan in a multi-table competition. Over a four-stage qualification process, one player would sit down against Dwan and four-table either No Limit Texas Hold’em or Pot Limit Omaha. For each match won by the challenger, there were different payouts, with $1.5 million going to the amateur if he won all four matches.
The competition began in late February with players earning points through cash games over a two-week time span. The top 750 players then squared off in a series of freeroll tournaments, where the final nine competitors were determined.

Those nine then entered the Matrix, playing four sit and gos against each other to determine the ultimate challenger for Dwan.
Controversy seems to have erupted following last weekend’s Matrix tournament, which was eventually won by a Russian player, “svetamillion.” When the final Challenge Durrrr matches were played yesterday, “svetamillion” had been replaced as Dwan’s competition by “inorej,” the second place finisher in the Matrix portion of the competition, with no explanation given by the site.
The change in players opened a discussion on the TwoPlusTwo forums. Over the span of over 130 posts, several possibilities were floated as to why “svetamillion” was denied the chance to take on Dwan.
The originator of the post, “Nofx Fan,” noted that “svetamillion” finished in the bottom third of the cash game segment of the competition before going on to win both the freeroll tournaments and the Matrix event. “Nofx Fan” offered the possible explanation that “svetamillion” had somehow colluded to win the competition.

Another poster, “sdrf,” offered another possible reason for the disqualification, stating, “I’m pretty sure it has to do with multiple accounts or potentially Sveta having a different player play the account.”
poker news Daily contacted full tilt poker to determine why the player change took place. In a statement, a representative of Full Tilt explained, “I can confirm that the player who got first place in the Matrix portion of the promo was disqualified. I can also say it didn’t have anything to do with the Matrix itself.

In the finale of the Challenge Durrrr promotion, “inorej” decided to take on Dwan in four tables of Pot Limit Omaha. Within 15 minutes, ‘durrrr’ had vanquished his opponent on two of the tables, leaving “inorej” with the possibility of winning the last two tables for a $50,000 payday. Although it took another hour, Dwan was able to win the final two tables and “inorej” walked away with nothing, although he did pocket money from the earlier segments of the competition.

For his victory at all four tables in the Challenge Durrrr promotion, Dwan and Full Tilt Poker donated $40,000 to relief efforts in Japan following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that occurred earlier this month.

Regarding the controversy brought up on TwoPlusTwo over “svetamillion” being disqualified, Dwan himself commented, “Curious about the back story – 1st I’m hearing of this.”

'Svetamillion' has appeared in a thread on the Russian part of pokerstrategy forum claiming that she is the person who's made it through the durr challenge and got disqualified. Basically she said this: "меня забанили и лишили всех денег....секъюрити FTP написала что я управляю 2мя аккаунтами на основе анализа игры. Я и другой ник в основном играли СНГ по 6 на 9 человек."

"I was banned and my money was confiscated. FTP security told me that their analysis has shown I was using two accounts. Me and another nickname were mostly playing 6 and 9 player SNGs."

When asked about that other nick by other forum members she said: "этот ник меня учил играть...знакомый мой....отсюда и сходство в игре....управляла я одним"

"That nickname is my acquaintance, he was teaching me how to play... that's why the similarities in our game... personally I was using only one account."

Personally I find that to be B.S I mean, Look many ppl have the same playing styles (Also because on similarities in the SN don't really mean crap does it)? Also by the person stating that she was being taught by such and such, doesn't really mean that she is Such and Such does it? Also with her stating that she some what Knew Such and Such doesn't really mean that she was in scheming with that said player does it?

All together not pleased with it at all...

Look at it like this, just because some ppl on here are taught rings personally by the better players here on CC does this mean there colluding together now?

whoa!!!! hang on.. this is what the person said that they (ftp) said but is it what they 'actually' said?
What you're saying in your example & what I'm guessing FTP has for their evidence I'm sure are wayyyyy different.

How would it make any difference to FTP which player won? Meaning.. I doubt they were discriminating against a player or making an unfair accusation.
Personally I'm extremely pleased to see that Fulltilt is doing their best to take care of crap like this!!
naruto.. cheating in MTT play is rampant online. You do know this don't you? Aren't you happy that they actually try to fix this shit up?

I don't want to 'look at it like this', mostly because I think the comparison isn't valid. And.. who knows, maybe some of them do collude? (I mean are they playing on the 'same' table while teaching them?.. I highly doubt it).

Personally I doubt FTP just casually disqualifies someone from winning a competition like the durrr challenge thing.
This situation gets me thinking > just think... how many folks were in that competition/challenge? And to think that the player who initially won it was shown to be a cheater (because obviously a site does a thorough check on a player when they win some event/promo thingy).... I wonder 'how many of the entrants are cheaters'? I would say there are MANY! Great to see another getting caught & something being done about it imo.

Too bad. I hope it will not happen to me. There are times that the game may be rough but thats what it makes more interesting. I just hope for the best.

History suggests we will NEVER get a better explanation from FullTilt. It could have been a similar situation at any other site and we would NEVER GET ANY BETTER EXPLANATION.

This is an easy situation to be dismayed about, but it is in all sites T&C's, and we all agreed to this before we started playing.

All the sites could probably do better at informing the general poker playing public, but the odd thing is that any hint they give will just compound the problem, both for them, and possibly for us.
