So last night was a mess. I play a regular $50 buy in tournament at my cigar lounge in NY with the same guys. We all know each other's playing habits and it's a very friendly game. To me , $50 is no big deal and we usually play 2-3 tournaments a night, 6-8 handed with the top 2 players splitting the pot. Nice and friendly.....

However, hand after hand I just got dealt shit cards. How many friggin times can you just sit there out of position and play J3 or 94 off?

My confidence started to wane and I got tilted after staying in with crap to an obvious straight draw board. It was heads up and we kept checking back right down to the 3 that came out on the river. Don't you know the villian had a 3???? I got so mad at myself for not sensing weakness on his part and not betting that I got tilted.

The following hand I woke up with AJ suited and 3 bet. Board comes out Kxx and I'm out of position against another villian. He bets, I keep calling until another K comes on the river. Idiot that I am, I shove and get sent packing. The guy had a set of K's.

I had no common sense and no ability to read the board or the players last night because I got dealt such weak hands all night.

My lesson here....treat every hand as a brand new venture and don't carry over negative thoughts from the last hand to the next one.

I got home and beat my wife, so I feel better now.

LOL hope you are joking about beating ur wife. Yea J3 type hands are worst than junk. Because they are infested with reverse implied odds. Like what can J3 type hands do hit a jack at best then you got to be worried about kicker trouble.

It was just one of those nights. Sometimes you can do no wrong and get pocket pairs and suited connectors all night long.

Unfortunately I could do no right last night. I'm not frustrated with getting shit cards, but rather how I let it get to me and effect my playing ability. I just made stupid mistakes all night long.

I will blind out before I play these s*** card you are mentioning. Unless you hit a miracle flop what are you going to beat? We all have card dead sessions, but do not let that be an excuse for playing bad, or we will be seeing this same post from you over and over. I've been tracking my losing hands and have found the common denominator is that I almost always was in with a junk hand. It only takes 1 hand to get back in the game. Be patient and pick your battles.

lol...

oh man, i hate when that happens, i get so tilted too, because even if you even act like you have something, the other players pick up on that, and know that your just trying to get some chips back... and you say you guys always play a game witrh each other, so they most likely know you will be playing with garbage too, even when you have no choice...

but what i suggest is look for those suited, connectors... who cares if they are low, like 56s to 87s... those are the kind of hands I look for when i'm having a shitty game, with shitty cards coming my way... it gives me that feeling of chance, while im waiting for hit decent cards in my hole cards.... anyways....

good luck man

agree with that... its better just watch and let go when you have bad cards. Playing with small stack and medium hands against bigger pots ends bad. Just sit out and observ opponents.. maybe there are possibilites in right moment.

I agree. It's just that sitting out while the field thins and stacks get larger and larger makes it difficult to bluff on a hand that you may be able to grab if your over bet doesn't even equal 1/4 of the villian's stack.

Yes, it is very hard to bluff.. basically I would not bluff at all in this situation. Just wait a good hand and if flop is good then go for it.. at that time there is always calling your bet. If you have small pot left then doesnt matter if you drop out bluffing or just sit out.. sometimes sitting out brings you further and you get to see some more hands. Sometime you can recover from pot size smaller than BB if cards are good.
