Does anyone else here think that CarbonPoker's "re entry" system is completely asinine? They're allowed in as far as I've see ALL pay tournaments that aren't rebuy--even the highest entry fee ones like the Sunday Big Ticket, effectively making it so ALL TOURNAMENTS ARE REBUY. Including the most prestigious ones. Wtf? Donkament recklessness potentially even at a tournament where entry is $215 dollars?! You gotta be kidding me...

Some of the good players deserve a second "bullet" at a re entry tournament.

The reckless players are just increasing the total prize pool. It's a WIN WIN situation IMO.

Yeah...I'm not clear on just how many re-entries are allowed in a re-entry tournament. Is it just one?

I think it's however much you can afford LOL

Until they close late registration which is usually after... *drumroll* 3 hours pass.

I just thought of another thing--reckless players increasing the prize pool really isn't as much of a thing as it could be, because CarbonPoker holds a multitude of "guaranteed" tournaments, and I'm pretty sure in most of them there still winds up being overlay. Or well...I guess I can't say that quite yet but I'm definitely going to find out. Because if overlay is involved, the "re-entry" concept is still an exercise in pointlessness.

I also couldn´t find any regular low/micro stakes tournament, all re-entries! It´s crazy.
(exception: our own CC tourney)

Forget low/micro, NONE of the public tournaments seem to lack the re-entry feature! Even Carbon OPS have re-entry! Even the events for $215, or $530!

It's the standard means for them to be able to offer the gtd that they do...without the reentry the gtd would be smaller and in turn get less people playing them ... rince repeat and you will get gtd prizepools dropping which isn't what players want.

WPN mtt's are the same for the most part, FTP have many of their games multi-entry (or recently multi-day, where you can have even multiple entries on multiple days to try and qualify to day2) which means you can run multiple seats in the same game or use them as reentry. It's almost the only way that sites without a lot of traffic can offer gtd prizepools that will entice more people to play them.

Regarding carbon they have recently gone on a progressive gtd kick which means that each week that the gtd prizepool is met or exceeded in specific tournies they will increase the gtd prizepool the next week.........so basically bigger prize pool attracks more players and more players with this progressive gtd approach makes bigger prizepools and so on.

I see reasons for not liking the reentry events, personally I would prefer a rebuy to a reentry and i'm not a fan of rebuy's either but at least in a rebuy you can rebuy a few times and expect that a min cash will at least cover your entry...in a reentry however since each entry is counted as a new player once you enter a couple of times you need to run deep even just to break even.......obv we are playing for FT and top3 but just as basis to where typically you expect at least an ITM is entry back, well it's not the case if you enter more than once.

Typically just play it no different than any other game, buyin one and if you bust thats it don't reenter but the reentry does serve it's purpose of boosting prizepools or at least producing low overlay so the prizepools won't drop anytime soon.

The tourneys on Carbon are more expensive than they seem.

And people with deep pockets or pros have all the advantages in such poker rooms.

I'm not a big fan of the re-entry tourneys but from what I have seen at carbon, all MTT's are either rebuys/addons or re-entry now and the time for the re-entry is insane for the most part.. Many of them have 2-3 hrs. Oh I so miss the gold ole days of no rebuys, no addons or 1 addon and no late registration.

Yeah...ESPECIALLY no late registration. Who even invented rebuy anyway?! Someone find out so I can send a swift kick in the pants his way. <_<

It was obv someone who sucked &/or sucks @ the game & always went out really early who thought of this idea.

i doubt the winner of rebuy games would feel the same way, they always tend to have very juicy prizepools for the buyin, even on the smaller sites.

I have noticed that recently it seems more and more of their tournaments are re-entry. Totally agree that the late registration times are WAY too long. There seem to be a large number of people whose strategy it is to get in right at the end of late registration, then go all-in crazy to try and double up immediately.

Was obviously someone who was good & knew they could outplay most others while on deep effective stacks.

Can't say I'm a big fan of the re-entry games. I pretty much just don't bother to ever re-enter & usually have enough games running that it makes no difference to me. The micro buyins I play on Carbon are usually filled with bad players and it'd probably be a better approach to resign to re-entering at least once (if still in early levels). I've noticed that even though the stacks are deep (structures are decent), you get LOTS of players willing to stack off 200+bb's with mid pp's, KJo, AT, etc. I busted out of the last couple after calling off one player's 3bet huge overshove with Aces & then actually having another player call off their stack as well with all sorts of weak hands (ie. 66, KJ, etc.). The play has been looser than a typical rebuy. But I guess if you add in that it is 'Sunday'... it is 'USA-friendly'... & is 'micro/low' buyin it makes more sense.

I too have wondered the point in allowing it in all their tourneys. I think it is so that they always get all the money that they promise to give away. It can be very frustrating though if you are trying to play tight and not having any luck but it can also pay off! I guess we just have to pay more attention to the people with big wallets and bad playing styles. Good Luck!

Carbon has changed a lot. massive re-buys, higher stakes, no freerolls. I don't like the changes, but I'm glad they are surviving. I like the software, and I want Carbon to be available with so few choices left in the U.S.

Re-entry on Carbon i find they are open to long for my taste. Oh im getting used to it in ways i never thought i would. Now 2 years ago i didnt have the same feeling that i have today. But Carbon has made changes that might be good and some aren't agreeable to all. There is one thing that can be said they havent been stagnant like a lot of the sites left for US players. Theres a lot of play on the site and for this my hat goes off to Carbon.

Wouldn't it be great if they offered one or two freezeouts, though?

RE-Entry tournies

Re-entry increases the prize pool and increases the amount of players on tilt. Win-Win for sure.

DEFINITELY! Make a phone call will ya?!?

I didn't exactly make a phone call, but does anyone remember a section to send suggestions to Carbon? on their poker site? One of the suggestions was to add a freezeout ..I didn't even care what buyin. That was months ago and I'm still waiting for an answer.

I had a boatload of suggestions for them, that day. :)
