I tried to login today and received a message that my account has been suspended due to security reasons. Picture attached.

I emailed Carbon to find out what was going on and received the following...

Thank you for contacting us.
We apologize for the inconvenience. Please note that due to changes in some US State laws over the last year, Management has decided not to accept new accounts from certain locations within the US and unfortunately, New Jersey state residents are restricted from using our site.

We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

We are always here to help you. Your reference ID for this email is LxxxxxxX; please quote this number in any further communication on this subject.

Kind regards,
Anthony Campbell

I am not a new player/account on Carbon and there is no mention of when I might be getting my money off the site. I have emailed again requesting this info since I am unable to get in to make a final withdrawal.

So I proceed the the chat....

They told me my account is under review. Why is my money, won during the period that they allowed players from my location, not automatically given back? Anything short of this is theft.

suspended account - Carbon Poker

Ya, the same thing just happened to me when I tried to log into my carbon poker account. I am a resident of Jersey, they must be doing this on all accounts with jersey residences. This sucks! I hope I get my money. Makes no sense to me, on all the years that it wasn't legal to play poker online they accepted jersey residents for players - and now that it is legal they are not accepting jersey residents? What the hell.. I hope they do the right thing, and don't screw people out of their money.

losing fate in online poker..

I love playing online poker, for the convenience of not having to leave your bed, and just play poker on your laptop, but it seems like its such a big process to get your money when you need it. I'm still waiting on a few thousand from full tilt (going on years now) and now this with carbon? shouldn't be like this, it takes minutes for them to take your money with a deposit - yet when you want to get paid its months - years.. lets get it together poker sites -............

For me this was the last good place to play PLO8. Now I will have to use play money if I want to play the game. No way i am gonna play HU on the Jersey sites. Went to 888 last night and there wasn't a single person playing Omaha of any kind. I guess my online poker playing is over which is funny considering is just became legal again.....LOL

Also I would have to question why they are not allowing Jersey players to sign in for play money. In that same instance they would also be able to cash out the way that pokerstars did.

Thanks. So far it seems like it might. They have asked for re-verification of my IDs so we will see where ti goes.

For Omaha none at all. If you want to play Holdem though I don't think you will have a hard time finding multiple tables.

You should use one of those laptop coolers/trays... you're going to overheat that badboy if you don't.

I used to play on Winamax, a french site, before "legalization" of online poker here in Belgium. When the belgian government gave licenses to some of poker rooms, banning all the others, I couldn't access my Winamax account anymore. Luckily, they (Winamax) did go all the way to give me back my hardly-won money ;-). I hope for you that Carbon will do the same, kmixer.
I miss Winamax...

It looks like they will get it to you. I personally don't trust any site's promise to pay. Full Tilt stole $150.00 from me because I never deposited and built my money from playing freerolls and ring games.

I can tell you why Kmixer, New Jersey now has online gaming, that means any one wanting to cater to the residents must be licensed in New Jersey, and Carbon is not, nor anywhere in the U.S., so, if Carbon continued to provide a gaming service, they would be committing a crime. The usual time to get cleared is 24-48 hours, to get the check in hand, 1st time cash out, 6-8 weeks, 2nd time around 3-4 weeks, after that i have seen them come in 10 days. G L.

That's only for a select group of states Rock, but it doesn't look good though overall. Anyway, IF the feds were to pass legislation, the states have the option to allow their residents to play or not, so some of us would still be out in the cold. Make no mistake though, should federal law pass a bill, no site, unless licensed, will be able to provide services to players without committing a crime, and the DOJ made it clear to the "rogue" sites as they called them, that they will be "excluded" from applying for a license, that's why poker stars backed off, they will be able to apply for one, and any sites that previously had a "brush" with the DOJ, and satisfied the penalties, would be able to apply after a 5 year period. But those sites still catering to Americans, the ones the DOJ calls "rogues", they can forget it.

Just play legal online poker, you are in NJ after all. I know it sounds alright that they are asking you to reauthorize your verification, but why? These shady offshore sites always use BS tactics like that to stall payments.
I hope you didn't have a lot of money on there because carbon is done.
These sites are second rate and cater to the American market, that's it. As soon as legalized poker happens in the entire United States these sites die. Do you think Bovada and carbon are going to compete with internet gaming conglomerates? The good news is this is just a cleansing, when the transition is complete and we have legal poker in the entire US, two things will happen
1/ deposits and cashouts will be instant, convenient, and without hassle
2/ the player pool will increase 10x over and there WILL be a new era of fish filled prosperity online, imo
Folks, this is just the beginning. If you live in a NV or NJ get your money off of these sites yesterday. If you live in a state that is considering legalizing online gaming, take off a chunk of your bankroll.

Number 2 is my biggest problem. I play PLO8. There is no player pool in NJ.
