When playing on Carbon & a player's avatar shows that they're from UnitedStates. Is it possible that they're not from the U.S. even though this is what it says on their avatar when you click on it???

Not sure the two are linked.

I think the actual avatar used and the country displayed are entirely two different things (may be wrong).

Name of country is taken directly from your input in Account details. Avatar is 'chosen' by you and can be almost anything.

If you mean where it actually says United States, I doubt they can have it display anything other than their account origin. Though if they never sent docs in for verification I suppose they could just bs it

not sure....

does player on carbon could customize it's location?
I mean not show it's read address?

but I would think that most of them from US at least registered an account from US local address...

I play SNG and see player from spain, germany and Italy, Romania and Macedonia , Lithuania, Russian on carbon...I probably think that there is no way to change the real location on carbon...LOL

I've seen where people from other countries got into US specific games on FTP using a proxy but not sure how that would work on Carbon. Should be country associated with verified address if verified.

Purely as an example, there are many Mexicans in So.Cal who fly Mexican flags on their cars. Especially when there is any mexico vs America sport event coming up.

I believe PO mistakenly said avatar when in fact he meant the player details when you hover over their name/avatar.

Okay thanks. I wasn't too sure how it works on Carbon as I don't play on there very much.

Reason I asked was > I noticed a player in Cardschat games with 'UnitedStates' displayed, saw them posting in other parts of forum where they stated that they also currently play on FTP & Stars. I did a bit more research & sure enough they do play a bit on FTP & Stars albeit mostly in freerolls & super micro buyins <$1.

Just found it odd that if their country displayed on Carbon was 'UnitedStates' how could they still be playing on sites like FTP & Stars? (perhaps they haven't updated their details on Carbon? But accounts on FTP & Stars weren't new either, so maybe they live in another country but haven't updated their Carbon details? & they've put in a change of address on FTP & Stars?)

Weird....Hope they don't win the big one on Carbon since they wouldn't get a payout.

Is there also a way for them to "illegally" play on Stars from the US? Either way seems kind of silly since they wouldn't be able to cash out from one or the other and might result in more consequences like not being able to play if the laws change in the States.

You can put any country you want in, and play .BUT you will never be able to cash out. If you don't believe me, go to Everest Poker, log in and look up KENTUCKYMEL, thats me. lol, U.S. players not accepted, and i DIDN'T lie, i forgot to put the "country" in, and dam if it didn't go straight thru. Don't see any americans in the rooms, and get a lot of questions on how i got in. No big deal, i like the site though, graphics and layout are nice. they just done a site overhaul too. I have seen many things over the years, and playing in one country and having another as origin is old hat.

You're probably correct PO. They probably lived in the states, at which time they created their Carbon account, and maybe since BF they moved to somewhere they can play Stars and FTP. Seems possible.

I have a friend who lived in the US before BF. He played on PS, FTP for the most part. After BF he began playing on Lock and Carbon regularly. In order for him to play on PS, he moved to canada and changed his address at PS and FT.
More than likely he hasn't bothered to change his profile on Carbon as now that he plays on the other two he doesn't play at Carbon. If he was still playing on Carbon, I would guess it would show US. Just a guess.

Back when the USA could play on Full Tilt real money (and I was drinking my Scotch late at night back then), I would occasionally "change" my nation of origin to 'all kinds of places other than USA' just to mess with folks...esp would show that I was from Russia, China, or austria. lol

Don't think one can do that on Carbon now...must match your established account information. And, since I am actually able to cash out now from time to time, I wouldn't dare want to mess up my opportunity. :)

I miss knowing where & who is playing on Bovada, but seems to make me "read player tells" more cause you don't have any other info on the opponents.
