Hi all,

I've seen some pretty significant change within the available games over the last 6 months, and it appears the CC freerolls may be suspended indefinitely.

On the front-page, there's a news article that hints that the site closing may happen through a rumor-mill but not much more:
https://www.cardschat.com/news/is-carbon-poker-closing-shop-11645

If anyone is able to provide anything conclusive, I feel like we Carbon players would greatly appreciate the update. Thanks in advance!

If we had anything conclusive it would have been included in that article. :)

It just isn't looking good at this point. :(

Much like the rumors of a bank closing it's doors and creating a panic run by depositors to withdraw funds, which correct or not could help cause the closure, so too could this.

This will also have ripples (if they do go down the toilet) throughout the entire online poker industry. Another scandal, moneys that will never be paid, no recourse for those screwed, and people seeing this who will never deposit money at online sites because of just this kind of thing.

I try to take solace in the old saying "it's always darkest before the dawn", but the whole online gaming industry seems to be falling apart. This could be good and bad; good for live poker in the U.S. (no where else to play), bad for online operations and the online companies who make money supporting it.

I was talking to someone the other day about playing online poker who said "what's the point? Even if I win, I'll never see the money"; sadly, I couldn't refute this point. While not true with many sites, the numbers of sites leaving people hanging out to dry is growing every year.

This is exactly why the US needs to approve legit safe regulated poker here! If we got real poker we could fund our own country, provide a legit operation, and protect US players. But wait we can't do that cause then people won't play the state run lottery!!!!! Oh no!

America's Cardroom is best for US players right now anyway! Prolly the best thing for online poker is to consolidate all the players into one field anyway. Hopefully, everybody who leaves merge will turn to the WPN. Yes!

It may be true that doing something like this would cause more alarm but we can't expect CC to advertise a site as safe if it may not be.

It's a what we touch touches us too type of thing.

Anything bad for online poker is bad for live poker as well.

I wouldn't have ever played live poker it wasn't for online but I think the worst thing about it for live poker is if I can't play online I may not get the urge to go play live as much as I would now that online poker is going.

This would be bad for poker, I don't see any upside to it unfortunately.

Don't misunderstand; I'm not busting CC's balls for doing the story. I'm just saying this is how snowballs get bigger. They are not the only ones reporting it, I'm sure. And one reason we belong to a site like this is to get this kind of news.

I actually read a response to the article and thought it was a bit harsh on CC for reporting it. It's simply a "nature of the beast" thing. You can't shoot the messenger. I'm glad CC brought this to our attention.

Especially since I was contemplating a deposit with carbon.

So, thanks CC! :)

I think Carbon started it when they failed to pay players out within a reasonable time line or within a timeline at all.

I requested a complete withdraw about a week ago. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I'm still pretty bummed. I liked carbon. I think they should of cut back on some of them bigger games, maybe this could have been prevented. I dunno.. Any news where we will go next, or there really isn't going to be anywhere else? Wish I could participate in the PS games. Good Luck to everyone, hope you get your money. I'm on the same boat too.

This just adds more to the already flowing fumes that Carbon is going down

Good luck. I requested a withdrawal March 31st and it's still pending. After 7 weeks, I'm not confident in seeing any money from them. Which sucks, because I'm ready for another withdrawal and we can't request another withdrawal until it's been processed.

it s so sad to see one after another site running away with ppls Money or not paying in time. this will destroy the confidence of online poker in People mind. cos whats the Point in depositing n playing when if we win , we will never ever to withdraw or see the Money again.. that is disaster ..

America's Cardroom is a pretty decent alternative. Faster payouts than Carbon ever had too. The software isn't as great as Carbon's but it's growing at a pretty fast rate and they're improving on a daily basis.

hmmm maybe the closing of the affiliate program to come might have something to do with the article. come on people open your eyes its all about the money lmao. time will tell (excuse my outburst) now time to here from the site trolls lmao.

Carbon has for the most part only had a few months of fast payouts and that has been in the last year (12 months) it seems like anyway. they have had a solid business over the years and if this is the end of carbon closing the affiliate program would be one of the first steps to properly shutting the doors on the place wonder what step 2 will be. it will interesting to see what's to come from carbon.

im far from and expert on this stuff and my views are speculation only but open for being educated on this. oh oh but be kind to me im only an old fart just having fun lmao.

I don't know about Merica's CR, it seems pretty shady at times. I have made one withdraw, which was a check that did arrive one month later(although the bank charged me ten dollars because it was a Canadian check). It just seems like it could go under at any moment as well, the state of online poker is all but sad. Bovada is great besides being anonymous I think, more trustworthy than ACR at any rate.

If I'm correct Carbon is ending all their affiliate programs not just at Cardschat.
Some people haven't been paid from Carbon since the SuperBowl. The SuperBowl may have actually been the last time anyone's been paid from Carbon (Not certain on this)

How good a company Carbon use to be isn't really indicative of how they are doing financially now. From what I've seen for quite awhile now is big overlays in multiple tournaments. Not to mention they chased off UK members not to long ago which equates to even less traffic.

Again, I'm hoping Carbon turns it around for the sake of the players at Carbon.

That is not even a slight possibility. They were ending the affiliate program before the article was even written. It has absolutely nothing to do with CardsChat other than we are one of their many affiliates - they are ending the program for all of them.

Okay, I'm confused. I just played a freeroll yesterday provided by a different affiliate....is Carbon cancelling all their affiliate programs or just a select few?

Carbon is getting some withdrawals out now.

Hopefully they can get all caught up and get things going back to normal again.
