anyone play at carbon poker? or any of the merge sites? ive noticed that a lot of the cash games always have 1 person sitting at the tables. there will be 5 or 6 tables all at the same limit and they will all have 1 person just sitting there all day and night. like 50 to 100 tables all with just one person on them. i have heard of websites having people play for the house. could this be what is going on? i dont know any other way to explain it

Could these be heads up tables and they are waiting for someone to join the game?

some are heads up tables. which is even odder to me when there are 5 or 6 people all wanting to play heads up at the same limit but just sit all alone all night

i did contact them. they said nothing was unusual. some people like to wait on an opponent. and i get that, but all of these people cant just want to sit by themselves for hours when there are plenty of other games at the same limits that they could be playing

I've heard stories about this "players" being bots, I personally stay away from them. Bots can be easily exploited but I don't f around with it

It may be a prop.

A prop is a player who works for the house to help make the room look busy. They arent superusers, they are normal players like you or me. They just have a special deal often they get paid a better rakeback to help start games.
lots and lots of rooms, live and online, use props, its nothing sinister or cheating. it just creates games for the room.

there are a few websites where you can sign up to be a prop, they assign you to a room and give you a list of 'dos and don'ts'. you start games, be polite to players, give up your seat when the table gets filled, and in return you get huge rakeback.
Props are treated the same as regular customers by the company, they need to email in if they have problems etc. They are not employees and they have no other obligations other than to help make the room look busy.

They are different from sponsored pros, pros are more like employees, have more contact with the company, have a bit of juice with the staff etc.

bots are software which will run automatically, you programme in a set of actions and the bot follows them to the letter. ie raise with AJ, fold with 66. They can be annoying to play, but once you learn ho they play they are easily beaten. Bots are cheating tho, props and sponsored pros arent.

while that does make sense, still alot of these players are at heads up tables. which would make the table full after one person sits down. prop players usually arent at the heads up tables, right? or at least thats what i thought

ive heard about smaller sites having players play for the house, so it has to be either this or a prop player like you were saying

If your talking about the medium to high stakes level cash games on carbon then no, Carbon's not cheating. IMO, I think the players don't have the bankroll to play those higher stakes cash games, which is why you see most of the players playing in the micros and low stakes.

HU players bum hunt pretty hard, regs wont play each other, alot of bad regs will just sit out after 20 hands if you arent terrible and wait for a big fish
imagine this is whats happening

Is carbon cheating

hi, I also have wondered about this lately. In a game I recently played , a player hit 14 out of 22 hands, which could have been pure luck. Odd thing was he would win against AA xs2 KKxs3 AK suited and other top hands, but he always won on the river, sometimes with cards no real player would even play like 2 8 off-suited and such. Still can't figure out. cat24550

I would go with them already having played each other and don't care to do it again.

Have you checked to see how many other games they are playing? I would guess if they are actually there, playing any other games, and if you can not find them, these could be games those folks started, and then forgot about and went to sleep. Easy money.

That is what you call bum hunting. Some players just dont want to play certain people, and they wait for a fish to sit with them.

they're fish hunting

why would regs ever play eachother.. when you see someone sitting at multiple HU tables like that, I wouldn't play them

whoever sits down is usually a chump

Anything is Possible When Hiding behind a screen! I suggest to keep your odds in your favor by staying out of suspect rooms with one player and avoid heads up play with certain screen names.

I see that on Bovada - where the tables are anonymous. Hard to know who you are avoiding there....

I wondered about this also, cause late one night I noticed the same thing on merge. One player sitting at every HU table there was, at different stakes too.So I guess it makes sense that those regulars are just trying to avoid playing each other and waiting on some new people to come play.Just dont know how they can wait for hours like that, and not fall asleep.

props are a real possibility, they are out there (nothing to be afraid of, could be you or me doing that)
also they could be a heavy multi tabler (20-30 tbls) so just cuz thet are alone on 10 doesnt mean they aren't playing 20 others
and yes regs do avoid each other sometimes-usually the only winner is the house with the rake

I sit them, noone sitting at 50nl or 25nl HU is unbeatable
