Score one for the Little Guy....My Carbon Poker Adventure ended today.

For Details of My story and other people's, refer to:

https://www.cardschat.com/forum/poker-rooms-10/my-account-has-been-suspended-carbon-143857/

To summarize, (because I know most people don't bother with the long posts)...

1. I deposited $500 US in Early February.
2. I made a small profit over a couple of weeks, $380 US
3. I tried to Log onto my account to play on Feb 18/09 and got a message saying my account had been suspended, contact Customer Support.
4. My account was closed due to "Fraud" and "Chargebacks".
5. I involved my Bank and a great site "Casinomeister.com" to help me prove I did nothing wrong.
6. 36 emails, most of Carbon's saying the same thing. They were just basic "Form" emails containing no information to help resolve the problem.

7. I received an advertisement email on Feb 25th saying, "You still have real money in your account". Confused, (because I never got any email saying anything had changed), I tried to log on and go figure, I had $380 in my account. When I inquired as to where the rest of my money was, I was told that the original deposit would not be returned because it was involved in "Fraudulent" activities. I asked how, if that were true, I could have received my profits that were gained from that deposit. They sent my another "Form" email with no info.

8. My bank and Casinomeister continued working on the problem and on March 6th I received an email saying that my $500 had been released. I immediately put in a Withdrawal request and this morning, I got notification today that it had been approved and I have my money.

I waited until the Approval before posting this because They, (Carbon), obviously lost my trust. Now that I've gotten my money, I can move on and leave this behind.

If anyone else is going thru this, PM me and I can give more details that might help get your money back.

For those considering signing up at Carbon, proceed with caution.

1. They have no Phone Service for their customers.
2. Their "Live Help" is only available to members and if your account is suspended, you can't log on, so this is also not an option.
3. Even after finding out that the error was made by Carbon, they offered nothing to make a customer they had wronged a reason to remain at their site.
4. After everything was resolved, I discovered that even though I had my money released, I lost my bonuses and Rakeback I had earned. I did get the token, "Sorry for any inconvenience", but that was it. Full Tilt gave me $50 cash, 2 tourney Buy-ins and a well written apology a few years ago when they made an error that affected my account. It also only took less than two days to get sorted out with Full Tilt.

There are far too many Online poker sites to play at Sites that can only offer mediocre Customer Service like Carbon offers. When it comes down to it, Poker is Poker and the important thing is getting good Customer Service and the ability to feel comfortable as far as your money is concerned.

In the end, I will not be chasing bonuses and Rakeback at the smaller sites. I will stick to the bigger sites with proven Customer Service and reputations.

I've done close to 300 withdrawals with no problems and usually get around $500 Rakeback per month, so I play a decent amount of poker. In my opinion, it is in sites like Carbon's best interest to do more to keep players like myself happy.

I'm just happy to have this done with and look forward to getting back to playing poker instead of spending unnecessary time dealing with Shady online poker sites.

Thank you.

You bet I am. I never actually stopped playing at other sites because it was tough to get more than 2 or 3 tables going at Carbon at a time. So I continued playing at other sites during.

I did lose a lot of playing time dealing with this, but will chalk it up as a learning experience.

Glad you came out of this with your money.

I have a friend right now who w/d from their

back in Nov for $2500 he got his check within

2 weeks which is considered good it cashed and then

he went back on carbon cause he left himself a decent

chunk to play with he ran it up to over 12K and had

requested 2 more checks under 2K back in dec.

they have done nothing but run him around since.

he has had them approved and everything but they

never sent him the checks he got his money released

back into his account after 2 months of waiting for

his checks and now he is trying pic-club to see if they

can get his money out quicker or at all.

I wish you all the best on the felts !!!

Glad you got your cash back- was considering making a deposit there, but will hold off for time being!

It amazes me how awful poker site support (generally) is- pokerstars is great, but I've had issues with ipoker sites and others- dont they realise that by annoying their players they're effectively shooting themselves in the foot?

It's bad enough that all these online sites are rigged, never mind causing all us hard working players withdrawal and access problems too...

???.. why would you play at all then? Ya know.. the weirdest thing, I've never heard a 'winning player', one who plays at high buy-in levels in cash, sng or mtt, ever complain about a site being 'rigged'. I wonder if there's anything to that?

WOW... OP, this sounds like a very frustrating situation you had there with Carbon. I've had some minor inconveninces on a site before, but nothing like this. Those automated 'form' replies are pretty frustrating no doubt. Personally, anytime I've received one of that nature I demand my message be dealt with and if they're unable to do so, to please forward my message to their supervisor or someone who has the capability to do something about it (and then I keep a record of such emails, and then once again forward them off if my situation is not dealt with within a reasonable time frame).

Carbon is one of the sites I just play on for fun, having never deposited there myself and just so that I can participate in some priv. tourneys and the occassional CC freeroll there. I know of a bunch of players/members who really like playing on the site. I also know that depositing funds on there is very easy, lol. Personally that site has never interested me as there doesn't seem to be enough traffic in the games I like to play in and I'm not a big fan of the structure in their tourneys (ie. when blinds go up.. they REALLY go up,... far from the bubble it seems that pretty much every player is on a shorstack so it becomes an all-out bingofest quite a bit earlier than in tourneys on other sites).

For depositing I've always felt safest with sites that are big and that have been around for awhile, although I have also deposited to a few for sign-up bonuses too.
GL on the tables!

Right on man. That is a bad situation. I've always thought carbon was kinda sketchy. From now I will only play their freerolls and if I win something worthwhile I will make the minimum deposit and cash it out! Thanks for the info!

Wow they didnt even offer an explanation, that is crazy. That is why I have refrained from the merge network, I have considered it but thus far stuck to bodog, stars and tilt. I for sure will never deposit there, thanks for posting your story.

When sites make mistakes like these, they should be willing to compensate the player. This maybe your only income for bills or college and they are suspending it when you may been able to double your bank that day. It is very unfair of the company to suspend without asking questions first. Their motto "Shoot first, ask questions later." Idiots getting paid by the little people that love poker. X

These things happen and there's usually a reasonable explanation, although sometimes it's hard to track down.

I once made a mistake and disputed a credit card deposit I'd made to Bodog. The bill came, there was a charge to some company I'd never heard of, no number to call, so I wanted to look into it. It turns out it was an intermediary for Bodog. They don't process their own accounts.

Anyway, my Bodog account was closed for fraud, due to this chargeback error. A couple days later, my UB account was closed for fraud. It took several days to reach them, but they finally told me they closed my account based on information they'd received from Bodog.

Simple, I thought. Just call my bank and let them release the charge. But their procedures were such that they wouldn't do it without the charge being resubmitted. They'd already taken the money from my account, so I asked them to just put it back. Couldn't do that either. Limbo. So I asked Bodog to resubmit the charge. They wanted routing numbers and things I had no idea of, and apparently their own communication with their intermediary was poor.

So I went back to my bank, ranted and raved and finally got somebody who released the charge. A few hours later, my fraud charges with Bodog and UB were resolved and my accounts restored to good standing.

Just saying, sometimes something's done somewhere along the line and then somebody uses some strong words like "fraud," and things seem dire. There's usually an explanation and usually a way to straighten it out. Now that you can contact support, I'd really like to know what the whole story is in your case. There's also the Carbon forum.

I've never had a problem with Carbon and am not worried.

Take any site at all, start a thread with "The problems with xxxxxxx..." and people will come out of the woodwork with complaints.

Check arrived today....5 business days -I'm starting to like Carbon more and more...lol

*Never had to make a deposit either - I tried but the pre-paid visa I bought wouldn't work - Royal Bank of canada's small print says "Not to be used on internet gambling sites*(I found out the hard way...lol)

Pretty good customer service on Carbons side..well in line with Fulltilt and Pokerstars check delivery time frame :)

I've been wiuth PDC/Carbon for a long time and have many transactions with the Merge site; never had a problem. Might I suggest you get a local credit card from a bank NOT affiliated with any of the big name banks; they never refuse poker room deposits and never do chargebacks thus I never have a problem. I do think I had to have an acct (checking or savings)with the regional bank in order to even get the invite for a card, but I was already using the bank and my credit was good. I believe if you already have credit cards, you probably wouldn't need to have an acct with a small bank. I really like how they work on EVERY site.

I have always wondered why Carbon has such little play given the generous Freerolls they offer and excellent promotions. I will guess one reason is "1MoreCard" is not the only person to have this problem.
