i cant seem to win any money on pokerstars. anyone who has won big or cash's out alot mind sharing their success story.

im really losing faith in pokerstars from all the bad beats. anyone have anything to say about this?

i seem to have mild success in large tournaments but i have a small bankroll so the profits are very small and are lost quicker then gained on sngs

i just want to hear people are actually winning before i deposit again

any tips would be greatly appreciated too

Hi Slicky,

welcome to CC. I have never played on poker stars so cant comment, I play fulltilt, PKR and bodog. However, your question needs more information. What stakes do you play at? Are you an experienced player? Do you understand BRM? If you dont know what BRM is, then your problem probably is inexperience and not PS. I mean no disrespect, but dont know where to place you, player wise. If you are a real good player on other sites and it is only PS then it is certainly a downswing there, play at the sites where u have success. If you are, however, a relatively inexperienced player, than losing for a while is absolutely normal (I speak from experience), and you need to find your leaks and weaknesses, and very important, learn BRM and play at APPROPRIATE LEVELS!!!!!!
This is a great place to gain insight and learn. As I said, you may be killing at other sites or live, but if not, then the answer lies in the mirror.
Good luck.

I agree with fletchdad. With good BRM and discipline you shouldn't lose...But I'm not saying you will not be in a yo-yo state.
This keeps happening with many ppl(including me) you win, you lose, you win, you lose,at the end of the week even though u may have got up to 100$ from 50$ in the process, U end up at only 65$. You didn't actually lose (U actually won 2$ per day from ur strting BR)but just losing from about 35$ from the 100$ can make u seem u lost...Its not wrong the ascent is supposed to be slow!

it's not uncommon to lose many games in succession.... even if you're getting it in with the best of it (and more commonly in the micros).
Personally I don't have patience/tolerance for micro's on Pokerstars - - mass amounts of really bad players. You might prefer the play on Fulltilt (the players in the micros do seem to play a bit tighter... maybe 'alot').

yes i practice bankroll management

sometimes i go on big winning streaks but then the bad beats kick in one after the next after the next. like seriously ill have 4 tables of double or nothing open and have the best hand up to the river then the bad beats come one after the next after the next.

not to say its rigged or anything but i know the stuff i see does happen but not at the rate it does. i even realized that even tho you have a high pocket pair like JJ someone always has a higher pocket pair everytime i have one and i dont have a problem with that its just the river KILLS me especially after ive been winning earlier. again and again. and might i add again. and dont forget again. again and again.

i have no problem at all playing tournaments i make the money about 75% of the time but when i take it to the double or nothings the bad beats just kick in.

and at a certain time i notice the people are teaming up on the sit and gos. if their way ahead in chips and it costs 100 chips to take someone out and they fold? what kind of bull is that

i think i should try full tilt for real. i played the freeroll there and placed 8th out of 2700 in the past but i dont like how they need id to cashout. they didnt need id to take my money in the first place

any positive feedback about bodog i was thinking of trying there too

also ive had success on celeb poker. turned $19 that i got free off some site into $80 in 2-3 days until i went on tilt and started playing higher stakes. anyone know about their cashout policies or any positive feedback about them

Stick with the games you're good at. A lot of people have this tendency where if they're doing well in tourneys they think they can do even better in cash games, or whatever and go lose all the money they gained because they waste it on the games they don't know how to play.

believe that the bad beats appear more often when we're in this situation, it is bad to accept some, but all are of the game! try to play on good days, and in good time in your country .. Gl!

i rarely get on tilt from bad beats i learned to accept them quick since i see them so much

what does get me mad is the players im playing with on double or nothings. some of them drive me insane. so many dumb moves plus the people teaming up. drives me nuts sometimes.

i dont understand how people go on tilt. ya i have in the past but now i learned from what it costs me.

i just figure out what went wrong. why it went wrong and how i can prevent it from happening again

if you're losing in s'n'g at micro stakes, tighten up. especially if your are out as one of the first 3 often.

Also browse through the tournament strategie forum there is much usefull info.

I play 9 seat SnG's on both FTP and PS with sufficient wins to keep my BR above water. During the first part of the SnG chips aren't that important - what is important is to stay out of trouble. I am very cautious playing the big hands that are drawing hands - they will lose too often to play them until your down to 5 or 6 people. At some point you have to get chips so I become more agressive and play more hands agressively.

Good Luck - hope this is some help. I'm not trying to make a living playing poker - just like to play and win. I haven't had to put money in for over 2 years now.

Double or Nothings are pretty much a different game than normal STTs, since you are not trying to get every last chip. Don't know if your playing the $1s or what, but my answer to you is play tighter, and I don't even know how you play them.

*And what may I ask do you consider a bad beat?
Are you giving people the odds to suck out on you?
And the ID thing is just a stupid reason not to play at Full Tilt, its not very hard to do, if you think its a privacy issue, LOL, you already gave them more information than this, now they just want the proof the information you provided is correct.

yeah, bro. I had the same situation when I first started on Pokerstars. It seemed I constantly was getting beat on the river all the time, by some douche with a 8,3. I just recently deposited more money after playing fake chips and live for a while February 1st and have since tripled my money.

I just learned to play what I was good at. Like dantheman said, each game is different so play what is paying out for YOU! There are a lot of donks out there, so you have to know when to fold. I had to learn that. Its hard to know you're ahead and have a dude chasing big calls the whole hand, but at the end, when you know he has hit something, FOLD IT. You lose more if you don't. If you bet and at the end he pushes in (and you know he's a donk), he probably hit something.

I agree with what others have said. Poker is not a get rich quick game. I believe there are 2 ways of playing: Playing for fun/gambling and playing for money/profit. Sure, they can cross over, (I have fun), but there are some hands I'd play for fun with my friends that I fold every time when trying to make money. Its not worth 'hoping' you land the nuts. The amount you win chasing isn't equal to 10% of the money you lose trying. You win little by little and use good BRM. Stay patient on the table and when choosing the table. Don't play too high!

If you're a good player, you'll win overall. Being good one place, doesn't make you good in another. Part of poker is the cards and knowing odds/when to fold and strategy, but another part is adjusting to the playing environment. If you know 'how' to play and can also adjust to the table, THEN you are a good player and you'll profit (little by little).

Check your game, fix your leaks, and like others said: this is a good place to get advice. PLAY PLAY PLAY and find your hot spots. Good luck dude! It'll come.

by bad beats i mean i have the guy covered and hes only got lets say an 8 to save his life and he rivers me

or just recently i went all in with AA against 10 10. you already know who won on the river.

i think i found out my problem. i was playing turbos which is more pure gambling as apposed to poker. i switched to regular and had no problems so far.

lets hope i can keep it up

and i dont own any picture id thats why i dont want to play on a site like that. if i had it i would have probly switched over long ago

I currently don't have any money on fulltilt. Every site is going to have bad beats once in a while. Lately it seems like I'm getting bad beats at every tourney and SnG I've played in.

If you make the money 75% in mtts you are a poker prodigy. I'm not sure that's even possible over time.I think you will find the rate of suckouts about the same on all poker sites and you need to minimize your losses when on a downswing by using bankroll management.
