I've just opened up an account at cake poker and the software seems realllllllllllly bad. For one, it's slow as anything to load up tables, the whole thing seems laggy. I put this down "maybe" to my laptop but it runs 20+ tables at pokerstars and other software fairly well.

So, I tried my PC which is a gaming/media, built purely to run heavy cpu usage like video editing programmes and games but it seems slow on there too. Is it purely the crappy software that cake use? Anyone else have this problem? I've tried 2 tables and it's just as bad obviously and I daren't even try anymore tables it's that bad! Another example is just the general usuage of the whole sofware, going into cashier, options, etc and any sort of different option just seems to grind and lag like really badly!

Christ I've never known anything like it.

Even PKR works good on my PC and that would be understandably laggy with all the 3dfx and graphics on it.

I think it's been put together extremly badly by some really bad software company.

Cake has pretty much always been that way. Not worth the trouble IMO.

what's wrong with PS/FTP?

Nothing. I still play there, but I signed up to try and play at cake as well. Just wondered if anyone else has these problems as well. Besides, from what I have seen from the 3hours I've played, the games seem a lot softer than PS/FTP.

what stakes are you playing?

i find that games being softer only matters at like 100nl+, so i guess if you're playing that, it makes sense

The games are softer and I got more RB there but Cake poker blows and that's that! I had fellow CC member transfer my Cake roll to PS mid bonus cause it sucked so bad:eek:. Even when playing on a newer computer software is laggy and is just an eyesore. On top of all these reasons not to use Cake is lack of traffic. Oh and almost forgot they banned use of HUD's and they won't work there(not HEM or PT3 anyway).

Long story short Cake sucks ass IMO.

this is good to know, was considering downloading the software. Maybe I'll try party poker instead? Anyone have an opinion on that?

Only thing I have to sat about PP is screw them too. This is where I first played for fake money. Since they don't allow U.S. players screw them! That's my opinion on that.

If you want softer competition than FTP or PS then try bodog. Heard they have made many improvements on software(resizable tables, not so laggy) since last time I played. Even then the amount of fish made up for the software issues(which I think have been resolved).

Nah, it was 10nl and 25nl, 6 handed. Seems people are playing somewhat worse than say, 5nl 6handed on Pokerstars.Maybe just good start I dunno, just had this feeling of being more comfortable playing vs these set of players at these limits on cake as opposed to PS..

Maybe it's added fact that on cake they seem to stack of with 2nd best hand when hitting any pair on the flop also quite often. It definetly felt a lot easier to me than pokerstars!

Thanks DJ, actually was going to ask about Bodog next, so considering what you said sounds like that will be the next site I try.

I used to play at cake too with some money I won in a freeroll. I have a $60 bankroll there and am willing to trade for ftp and ps money. I got sick of the lack of traffic. Also you need $500 to withdraw with check and their software is just poor to view.

My cousin won a FR there and swears there site is rigged(no I don't think so too :)). He rolled his winnings up past $450 but could never make it to $500. Anyway he finally had his friends who had accounts there tkae the money via P2P transfer and payed him cash. They deposited frequently so it didn't take him long to get it all.
