Cake has been around for 5 + years. The good thing about the software is you can play on it as American. The bad things about the software are ...well that list is going to be pretty long. LOL

My primary gripe about the software is the rake is on the high side. They take 1 out of 15 cents from every pot. Most of the other sites I played on took 1 out of 20 cents. That doesn't sound like much, but that crap does add up over time.

It used to be my favorite site, but merge has grown quite a bit. Cake's clients have always been buggy. I use both Cake 1.0 and 2.0 to increase my odds of getting back to my game, but sometimes they both won't log on or will crash. IMO, it's nice to play on different networks for variety, but if you just need to play poker, and are American, just play on a merge skin. Cake is dumb for never improving the stability of their clients, and for years, they've had a tab for stud but never added the game. Merge on the other hand has pretty much every variation of poker, and it's traffic I would say is about 3 times larger. There's no substitute for a site like FTP or PS for American players right now, but Merge is the closest. I play on Carbon and Hero poker on merge. I every once in a while play on Cake on the Cake skin cause I have rakeback their. Currently broke their though, lol.

The 1.0 software is better IMO, though I do miss the re-sizeable tables of 2.0.

I'd recommend playing on a skin that uses its own cashier -- e.g. Intertops or Pokerworld -- as cashouts are much more reliable.

The network is seeing a huge influx of traffic in the past few weeks (after it took a big loss following its post-Black Friday hike), I'm hoping this continues.

Cake Poker still is one of the few poker networks that still accepts US players. But, you need to know that the minimum cash out there for US players is $500 and, these last few weeks, I saw some players complaining about their cashier and that they are not receiving their money for weeks now.
Also, their support is no good! So, you have to watch out for these things!

Wow. I personally hate Cake and most people I know do too. Do a google search and you'll hear about all the problems with that network (bad management, withdrawal problems, etc).

As far as I know Cakepoker.com stopped accepting US players in June.

Really? Not sure about this, I haven't heard anything. Do you have a source / link?

Edit: Now that I reread your post, and see that you posted this--
Bodog.eu is the only good room I know that started accepting US players just several days ago. Also good room for me.

-- it's clear you don't have very good information.
