I few days ago I got an email invitation (don't know who sold their membership lists) to be part of the Beta testing of a new web-based poker site, Cafrino. You know, Beta testing, for the computer savvy, means software has been thoroughly tested in-house, with all the known bells and whistles added, and opening up to a wider group to find any remaining bugs.

By that definition, this is a very bare-bones program. There is no FAQ or information on how to play the site - you are expected to discover the loopholes for yourself. (BTW, the screen is too large. One player asked, until he was eliminated for sitting out 10 hands, when the game was going to start. He didn't know that you have to scroll down to see the action buttons, and I didn't know that was the problem myself until I thought about it after he was eliminated.)

They gift new members with 'tournament play chips' which can be used to play for real money. Apparently, a large number of kamekazi or 'bingo' players have signed up, so it is very difficult to play your best while people are going all-in so frequently.

They say they want feedback, but do not provide an address. I could go on and on, but I leave it open - has anyone else tried the site? Comments?

I also got the email inviting me to try out the BETA. I played a few of the step games went up to step6 where the play actually gets better. Not sure if its going to be a pay site down the road or exactly what. right now it says free site which I am always cautious about.

I have played for a few days now, and actually came in second (for $3) in a $10 tournament. As long as you watch out for the all-ins before the flop and with nothing (I saw a called hand where the person that started the all-in raises had 3-4 off-suit, and naturally lost). I think the low-cash tourneys might be easier to win because mostly newbies play them rather than the big money tourneys. One problem with the site still is that you don't know going in where the cash is (unless you peek at the results for earlier similar games. They do let you know where each player drops out, so you can tell when you are at the final tale.

I've also played a few tournaments at Cafrino. Not sure what I think yet. I'm going to keep playing for while before I decide if I like it or not. Lacemaker did they pay you the winnings? If so, how long did it take?

I have checked out this site and played some on there. It still has bugs. But may improve with time and work. To get more chips to play the bigger cash tournys I guess you have to play the $1 + 500 points tournys to get them. Did not see anything about buying them. But there was someone who posted about how fast they will pay you if and when you cash out. And that info was good.

I just finished a session at Cafrino. A couple quick notes:

1. When heads up the blinds are not correct. Dealer is Big Blind, should be Small Blind.

2. No sound- kind of annoying, can't look at tabs

3. Browser based, sort of good and bad

4. Hard to control the bet tab, can't manually enter bet amounts

5. Very slow, about 4-5 seconds between end of hand and start of new hand

Overall not too bad if you only want freerolls. If you have $20 you'd be better off playing ACR

Sound works fine on my PC and my new tablet but not on my old tablet. The software is not the best as you have pointed out but they are trying to improve things. They recently started an hourly break for tournaments.

I got that e-mail also

I recently got this same e-mail. I liked the site... Seems fun, but nearly identicle to NLOP. NLOP is a great free site with decent prizes. I have cashed about 5 times but never more than $15. If anyone wants to join, you should get a friend referral. My "team" earns free entry to the biggest tournaments every week. If you signup without a referral, you become your own team but cannot earn team points until you recruit other players. I think this site referral bonuses

Cafrino has very bad customer service

I had problems accepting my withdrawal from this sita via paypal. I was communicating with cafrino to try and resolve the issue and they decided that their only resolution to the issue was to disable my account until I got the paypal issue resolved. lol I did get the issue resolved and got the money but now they won't respond to my messages asking them to reinstate my account even though I resolved the issue. I still have $8.00 left on the site I need to withdrawal too they as of right now they refuse to pay me. Bad. Very bad.

Cafrino screwed over half of the ITM players in the Saturday $200

A word of warning to you all...

I was deep in the Saturday $200. it payed 20, there were 13 left, and the server crashed. They paid out places 14-20, but refuse to pay out ANYTHING to places 1-13. I've tried to contact them by their support email address as well as through Facebook, and they faded me and all the other players who got screwed. It's ridiculous to pay out half your tournament and then give your top 13 players nothing, even though we were guaranteed $2.00 and 1st place was $70.00.

Don't play on this site. I understand that sometimes software crashes, but I expect sites to make it right if their software does result in cancelling a tournament 4 hours in. These guys did not, and are clearly unethical.

Update: today I received $2.00 from Cafrino in my account. I would have preferred an ICM chop of the remaining pool, but I am happy with $2.00.

Thank you for return and updating. They did address your issue, perhaps they did do an ICM thing, and whoever was in 1st got more than you?

They didn't say how they paid it out. I don't think they ICMed it. I think they either paid everyone $2.00 or they paid out according to the standings when the server crashed. I was pretty short stacked, but I think I would have received more than $2.00 if they had done an ICM chop.

Cafrino April 16 2016 $200- Final Table Crash

I'll remember it forever. I was 2nd with 200k+. Leader had 300k- the rest were far behind.

After 4 hours and 15 minutes just as final table table starts, the site crashes.

Acknowledged their error and never compensated anybody anything- I should have received $40.

Since then they have deteriorated rapidly. I've lost high levels, dozens of hours and thousands of chips to their glitchy software.

This is not idle bitching. I cashed $660.15 from the site, but I'm done. They now suck.

Had same thing happen April 16th 2016

Except we we were on Final Table, there were only 9 left I was 2nd by a big margin, 200k to 70 k, and they never made good at all.

The crooks owe me $40.

Yeah, since I last posted they got me again, but didn't make good this time. On 4/28 they were having issues with their SSL certificate being expired, and it took a bunch of games offline, including the $10 tourney I was playing. I was in the money when the game hung and eventually disappeared, but was never credited with any cash. I e-mailed support about it twice and they never responded to either e-mail.

I have cashed out ~$96 to PayPal successfully, so I can't say that they don't pay out. However, I have been shorted on a couple of occasions and they don't always come through, even when it's clearly an error on their end (like an expired SSL cert).

I have been playing there for about 2 months. Yes you all are right about the kamikaze thing but i have won a few and placed in the weekend big ones. Another thing the payouts were almost automatic. As far as bugs and such yeah some hands i thought weren't payed out correctly, lots of time delays, but hey its beta and free.
