Hi, I recently started playing poker on Bovada like many other sites I've read reviews saying there are bots on the site. I'm sure it isn't true but is there anything to back these allegations? Also I've noticed there is no bad beat jack pot does anyone know why? Thanks alot Cory Riggs

Badbeat jackpots are not good for anyone, it is just luck and you pay way more into it then you will receive. Bovada poker is one of the best U.S. sites to play on.

I usually go on major downswings after I cash out there, and I've heard this from many others as well. Cashed out $900 a few months ago, left $400 in there, lost all of it plus another $200. Lame.

I just started playing on it and I like it so far. Bad question coming but are their player to player transfers on it?

Is that posted somewhere on the website? I have never heard of someone having to send customer service an email to receive a bad beat.

Yes, I believe their qualifications are posted on the promotions page, and both cards have to be used. That being said it has been a while since I last look.

That's cool I guess. It just sucks that the payout is not that large unless you hit it at a 10/20 table. Which I was surprised to see on Brovada. Normally the highest games that I have seen running have been 5/10. Nothing like the days of Full Tilt.

Dunno if Bovada has bots, but I feel like you do get major downswings. Lots of players say the same thing.

A few days ago, went up like $300, and then lost it all in 2 hands the next day within 5 minutes of each other to runner runner quads.

I mean don't know if it's just unlucky or what.

Take it as you will though.

I have had this on other sites. I did really well and won about 4k. then for the next 2 weeks I couldnt get a break. Lost half and cashed out. I just won 3k over a month and lost 1k and cashed out. It wasnt like I was playing a different game or anything. I got a lot of bad beats. I mean I know its poker and it happens. However it just seems like it happens when you hit a certain point on some sites.

Do not mean to ruffle any feathers but rather than a down swing...looks like bad bankroll management.

From what I hear there are bots on every site. I've never had issues with bovada and they payout quickly every time. Great site imo. I also agree with the bankroll management post above me.

Same things has happened to me as well. I Go all in on a good high pair and get called by someone with a 10,8 and flop two 10's.

Interesting...I built a nice bankroll at Bovada in 2012, then withdrew a big chunk of it at the beginning of 2013. It's been pretty flat since then. No where near the success I had in 2012, including a pretty regular diet of losses to 2 and 3 outers on the river.

many US sites?? really???

Wow - how many US sites are there then? Flaunting the UIGEA big style.
I suppose the government will have to give in eventually and legalise it just like Colorado and amendment 64 - which I have to say is impressive. Finally prohibition ends and the same has to happen with poker - ya think? Government does a U-turn? Probably - when the next crazy nut job republicans get their way. But Colorado is a Republican dominant state???? Go figure?!:stickyman

Yea probably I agree I do have bad BRM sometimes (especially when playing drunk...), but that doesn't change the fact I go in with the best of it and get beat against a 1% hand twice.

Anyways, I specifically looked for this thread again just to post this... I cashed out $1k last night, left like $500 and played .1/.25. today.

Lo & behold, lost my BI in all 4 tables I was playing at once. I wish I Bovada didn't have such a shitty way to check your previous hands (you can't copy and paste that shit either), but I would've loved to post it here and just laugh at it and then punch hole through my computer screen. I guess I could take a screenshot, but that's too much work.

And yea I'M F***ING RAGING.

On the other hand there are a lot of bads on Bovada.

The "cash out curse" is a myth. It's a function of regression to the mean. Most poker players (current best estimate is 94% of online players) are long-term losers. Occasionally they will run well enough for a while to grow their bankroll and cash out. After their "hot streak" ends --- which is after they have cashed out --- their "luck" returns to normal and they lose again. That's why people think the "cash out curse" exists.

If you discuss the issue with those of us that are long-term winners, you will find that we ALL agree that the "cash out curse" is a myth.

Good luck.

It's not normal luck to lose two big pot hands in a row when you're 99% favorite to win.

It's not normal luck to lose two big pot hands in a row when you're 99% favorite to win.

First of all, I seriously doubt you were a 99% favorite in either hand. 99 percenters are rare in hold'em.

Secondly, even if you were a 99% favorite in each hand, 1 time in 10,000 you'll lose both hands. So, if you play enough, it will happen sooner or later.

If you prefer to believe in the "cash out curse", or that online poker is rigged, that's your prerogative --- but it confirms that you are irrational.

Be well.

The "cash out curse" is a myth.

...For what it's worth, I've cashed out from Bovada twice recently, and have actually been winning at a higher rate since my last withdrawal. I'm not quite sure what conspiracy theory that supports, but that's just my two cents:)

That probably would've hurt a lot less if you used proper bankroll management, and weren't playing out of your comfort norm as you alluded to.

My result on Bovada last 6-7 months.

I'm a total luck box though. That aside, the last couple of months, I have seen some super strange play on there. I'm actually going to be breaking down my database, because there are some really odd 85%+ VPIPers that are making some odd calls. Stuff that the normal droolers don't do.
