In the latest update it appears Bovada/bodog/ignition has removed the ability to chat at any of it's tables. Instead you can send pre-made messages to chat such as "wow!" and "Zzzzzzz" or have a selection of 6 emojiis to choose from to express yourself.

Anyone else seeing this? Thoughts?

I always disable the chat anyways, so it makes no difference to me.

Chat in online poker is over-rated. No need to converse with other players. Just play your game and focus on being profitable and winning

The Chat Was Useful

How can anyone say it makes no difference to use chat or not? Bovada taking away the chatbox with pre-made messages completely ruins the advantage of being able to influence opponents' decisions by talking to them and getting into their heads. Chatting in poker is a huge tool to use to influence play. Even shit talking has its effects by causing some players to tilt and play more aggressively towards you. Taking away the chat box is an awful decision on Bovada's part.

the chat has an option to deactivate, or you can simply ignore it, it does not bother me

I totally agree! As I saw yesterday in a movie called "The Cardplayer" (italian, not that much about "our" poker, she read out of a book; " The best way to attack a "solid" player, is to distract him with everything you've got from his/her strategy"
I almost made a russian shouting, and he is soooo cool in general!
You have 3 weapons: you, your cards, and your stack!!!

And don't tell me in live poker somebody can ask: Could you please stop him talking? he's making me nervous" That would be too bad for Daniel

I think it was a stupid move, but not the end of the world. The games will go on.
