I was just wondering about the Bovada policy of not showing table names.

1. How do we protect the integrity of our buyin and freeroll passwords???

2. What about player notes? I personally don't play enough to bother keeping them, but some serious players are meticulous about it.

3. Why do they do it???? It seems like a good way to hide cheating insiders.

Because they don't want players who care about collusion oer the number of bots currently playing. In fact if all their poker players would quit and just bet sports / play the casino they'd be tickled pink.

I will paraphrase the words of the bodog Network VP:

As always, Bodog Network agrees that poker bots and collusion are a threat to the online poker industry. With the launch of the new poker software they have also improved their back-end and they have systems monitoring suspicious behavior and notifying the poker security team.

I cannot go into any more detail than that, but Bodog Network is clearly not interested in short-term gain- they are thinking about the long-term health and fairness of the poker network and the industry as a whole.

Also, if you ever notice any suspicious behavior, please call the CS of the poker site on which you are playing and report it.

Thank you!
Becky

So that's why it took someone about, what 6 hours to uncover the flaws in the so called "improved back-end"?

So we just take your (Bodog's) word on it. Yeah, no thanks. You had a botting problem before you went to anon tables and did nothing about it. Now I wouldn't be surprised if half your dwindling traffic isn't bots.

Honestly not sure why you guys are even trying to justify this stuff here or any poker forum. You've clearly made a business decision that you DO NOT want us to play on your site. Your prerogative, but why waste your time trying to sell us on it?

If I ever notice any suspicious behaviour? How can I if I don't even know who the player ('number') is?
There's been times where I've come across colluders (on other sites) who were playing same tables together (I've seen this in ring games & in SNG's).
One example of where I reported the individuals was only because I was able to track & watch their activity 'over a period of time'. I was also able to run their player names through a game stats. tracking software that clearly showed that over 85% of their play was on the same tables. (it wasn't just that they were on same tables obviously... initially came to may attention because of how they'd played a couple/few hands in later levels of a SNG).
I reported the individuals & I never ever saw them again (& know for a fact that they no longer played on the site because they never had another game show up when I checked on the game stat. tracking software). This left me feeling quite satisified. Knowing that the site wasn't able to divulge any info. about the situation to me (which sometimes leaves one wondering " Did they really even do anything about it?") but being able to check for myself that indeed both players were booted off of the site.
How could I ever possibly dream of doing anything like this on Bodog? Obviously I can't so to me as a player there is no re-assurance that anything is being done at all.
To suggest "... if you ever notice any suspicious behaviour" this is really a joke (imo).

The example I gave above re: looking for suspicious activity & then actually being able to research it a bit for myself is only one of many that I've dealt with. I've observed & reported a handful of cases in the past 4yrs. It's also comforting to know that there are MANY other players who play far more than myself & have much better tools/methods to identify cheats are out there in the community helping to keep things on the up & up on the tables. None of this is possible on Bodog.

On another note, the whole anonymity thing is just so ridiculous. Even to a newbie who's learning the game. Taking out the ability to gain reads on opponents & to work on exploiting their weaknesses & tendancies turns the game into little more than a video game.
I played the CC Bodog priv. tourney last night (the only game I've played on Bodog since the 'down'grade) & the only thing I found even remotely entertaining & amusing was > trying to figure out who was player 12, who was #11, etc. It turned what is typically a good game (lots of metagame stuff) into a boring game. I can't see how even a rookie could be interested in this.

I like the new Bovada's non player name approach. I like that it keeps off talentless cheaters who rely on tracking software. You actually have to watch your current opponents and get a quick read on them. Sure if your playing 20 games at once you can't do that, but as someone that enjoys playing only 1-3 games at a time and actually pays attention to my competition I like it. To each their own.

ok where i was going with the insider thing was, the ap/ub insider scandal was discovered by tracking, similar to sharkscope or whatever...he got caught because they were able to compare his 'luck' with everyone else. With the player number bs, u cant do that, the offender would never have been caught.

the anonymous player format is horrid, dump it already, bovada.

yea, they just seem hell bent on losing the support of serious players.

No offense Becky, I loved your help and support over the years here. And still appreciate all you have done. Your company changed its policy, so wtf can you do about that? And I would probably want to keep my job as well, so in a situation like this you stay on the train or get off. And getting off could mean unemployment, so,yea, I get it.

But this statement above is ludicrous to any even mildly serious player.

Doesn't Feel Real

Not too concerned about player cheating (you have to know its going on and accept it, or not play online), and do not use tracking software, so not much effect on me. But, the game is just not the same anymore.
Playing against random numbers at a table feels like you are playing a video game.
Having said that, I still think BD is a quality room that unfortunately has taken a step backward. And, since they are one of the few established rooms available to US players, will continue to play there.

I also like Bodog/Bovada...just hate the player number thing. I like some players(friends, cc players), REALLY like some players(fish), and would prefer to avoid some players(hate)- I know good players that I don't really want to get involved with, they are better than me and I am not so full of myself that I don't know it.

The question I was really wanted answered, nobody really addressed- How do we keep our passwords out of the password sharing forums I hear are out there????
We can't tell who the hell is in the game, how do u know they aren't password thieves??? I love the exclusivity of our games, they are not easy to get into and I like it that way.

just sayin.....

Buyins don't have the problem that freerolls have. If the Bo games were freerolls it would be a mess I'm sure.

Your question regarding password protected tournaments is a valid concern; however other than player numbers, these tournaments have not changed.

We suggest you raise password concerns with your Forum Moderators. The passwords to join the tournament as well as who registers and plays is out of our control. We can assure you that we do not share these passwords with anyone but Forum Management.

Phew!! Bovada is not sharing the pw's. I feel much more confident about the security on those anonymous tables now.

Guess there still not getting it. How would we even know if there were password thiefs if we don't even know who anyone is. I guess we can all say who we are at the tables lol what a joke.

I really don't see the big issue with the player numbers thing. It forces you to focus on who you're playing instead of some "helping hand" software telling you about how they've played a particular hand before.

Each tournament is unique and your reads on certain players have to come from that game instead of some game/hand before.
