A deadly combination. Came in last night from an (overly) extended session at the pub and promptly blew $120 in fifteen minutes at the Full Tilt 1/2 NLHE ring. Proof positive that alcohol and poker are best enjoyed separately, and in moderation.

On a happier note, I was able to recoup the lost cash and then some today...albeit with bleary eyes.

So funny and so true rammer, blew 200 bucks last saturday night on stars, and got it all back on one hand !!! the hand history was both hillarious and scary at the same time.

In live games however i believe one or two drinks is the perfect combination for me to be aggressive enoughv when i get the hands:cheers: . If only i could stop at that though lol

I'm going to use the alcohol in moderation technique at my first live tourney tomorrow. Hopefully a couple of cold beers will take the edge off and improve my focus. If a couple doesn't help or the cards are bad, may just kiss the $150 goodbye and get blasted...

I have come to the hard realization that booze + cards do not mix. Case in point. On my recent vacation, I was playing a 6 seated no limit game. Of course, I had taken this one guy for quite a bit of money the day before, and he noticed that i had drunk a shot or 5 too many. So he sets up a game and gets out some more liquor. Of course, I was at the point where I was doing good to see the cards. I couldn't turn down a chance to take this fish for even more money right? Well, I quickly lost and proceeded to pass out 5 steps from the table. My normal stance is no more than 2 or 3 beers at the table, and let my opponents drink their chips away, but I was already long past drunk and not counting on a game that night. In a related matter, I have found that alcohol will enhance your chances of getting the opposite sex to play poker with a different set of chips if you catch my drift.... To paraphrase the great Homer Simpson: Ah alcohol, the cause and solution to all of life's problems.

:beerglass i've done this too many times to count. After 1 session i woke up to see i'd emptied my account at pacific without any rememberance of doing so($300),although i once won $1500 at will hill after a spectacular drink up when my football team(sunderland)beat our dear fiends(sic) from up the road(newcastle)2-1 at their ground.
Not big and not clever really!:beerglass

The poker league I'm in take plac ein a bar so a lot of people drink beer before and during play. Some make stupid plays like going all in. The dangerous thing is sometimes they get lucky and all of a sudden there are the chip leader. Most of the time, they quickly lose chips. One time, one person who was clearly drunk took 2nd place! I got to tell you. It makes me laugh. It cetainly adds a dimension to the live tournament.

Um, yeah. I have to kick the hubby off the computer if he's had a few too many beers, because his game just crumbles and he plays waaaayyy too recklessly. This is usually his reaction to my nagging--> :motz: Until I point out the bankroll... :bird: He is a pretty darn good player (I have learned a lot from watching him), but not after a few too many!

Plus there was that time at Ceasars Tahoe; we were playing blackjack for hours, winning our asses off and having a grand time (I noticed the pitt bosses hovering around, watching us from the corner of their eye, picking up the phone a time or two...it was funny). Of course the free cocktails were flowing the whole time and we were quite froggy. But I knew it was time to go when he started hitting on 17! Yeah, time to go back to the room at that point and play a different kind of "poker"....wink, wink.

I know a guy you did #2 on your list while drunk... Needless to say, he literaly blew his foot off! Folks, don't listen to Dogs, whatever he says, he has neither your best interest nor your well being in mind, but rather our wallets, our amusement, and his *ehem* enjoyment....

Anybody ever do "number 2" on the neighbors porch when they are drunk? :icon_chee Actually I was quite the daily drinker till sometime ago I woke up seriously light on the bankroll, since then it is very strange I no longer have the daily cravings for alcohol. Will always love to get blitzed on occassion but it seems poker has drastically slowed down the destruction of my liver.

Playing poker and drinking is never really a good idea but for some reason I do it often. And not always with bad results. Last weekend I was down 40 from playing in the afternoon started drinking, went the bar for about 5 hours came home played a sitngo and won 50. So its not always bad. As long as you can see the cards and have the volume turned up so if you nod off hopfully you hear the buzzer!
