bodog issued a press release today announcing they have launched their new software. There are some interesting new features included.
  • They will now have a "Rabbit Cam" where you can see the cards that would have been dealt - even if the hand is over.
  • They have reduced the rake on their heads-up tables (new cap is .50 per hand instead of $1.00 per hand).
  • You can now play up to 20 tables and they have added some new tournament format structures.
  • Other changes include adding blackjack, improved accessibility and site speed, and an improved data protection system.

Then there is the "all-site anonymous tables." On these tables the use of HUDs and other data mining sites can not be used.

I like this much.

Wonder why, if HUD's are so squeaky clean?

That rabbit cam seems so tilting to be honest, I couldn't help but want to know what each street would be dealt.

"all-site anonymous tables" seems somewhat better.

Did Bodog change the software as in the skin of the table? Is the visual the same or is it better looking now.

Been waiting to see what this massively hyped update would bring. I'm always a sucker for improvements and new features. But this announcement makes me question some things.

By "all-site anonymous tables" do they mean every table on the site, or just select tables? Up to this point their goal has seemed to be to make ALL tables anonymous. If they're now saying that HUDs and datamining are only disabled on *some* tables, that doesn't make sense because if they "cracked" it for any table you'd think they'd apply it everywhere. They've gone out of their way to try and block datamining sites (which is good) as well as trackers/HUDs (bad) and this seems a bit incongruous with that philosophy.

On the same token, up to 20 tables now? That sure doesn't seem to fit the Recreational Player Model either. Can't imagine many sportsbook fish who crank up 20, 10, or even 4 tables for that matter. Not that every multi-tabler is a winning player, but you don't find many that will play 20 and not know a little about what they're doing. Doubt seriously that many would want to 10 or 20 table without a HUD though. Unless you're Leatherass or Shaun Deeb it's pretty much impossible to do and book a decent hourly.

These two things along make me wonder (and be someone hopeful) if they're coming to their senses about winning/grinding players not being welcome there. Maybe when MMGG takes branding completely over in another month, we'll see things become a bit more rational in that regard?

Bodog Becky, do you have any insight here as to whether the RPM will be pursued by MMGG with the same aggression as it has thus far? It's hard to tell whether RPM came from the Bodog side (seems likely since it parallels Calvin's views) or Alwyn's.

I like this much.

Wonder why, if HUD's are so squeaky clean?
LOL, you seriously ask this?

Nothing whatsoever to do with HUDs, everything to do with Bodog's "Recreational Player Model" and discouraging winning players away from their site. They think winning poker players are bad for their poker economy.

They seem to have tweaked it a lil bit, it seems better to me. The site is faster now, I don't have the lag I use to have. (For now anyway)

This is fantastic. I am going to have to see about depositing on bodog, I just don't want to put $100 on a site I cannot easily transfer funds off of.

Geesh... why didn't I think of this? It's a conspiracy, right? ..:p

Yeah Poof, adding a p2p transfer function to there site would have been the improvement I'd be looking for.

Yea i Just downloaded the new Bodog and its looks good, am thinking of seeing if my deposit will go through on the site, but

IS this the same site the US will have next year or will we get a a whole new facelift after they leave the US. I dont quite understand, they are leaving the US market at the end of the year but will still have a poker site in the US (will the US be able to play with ROW on bodog or is going to be bodog usa)

Wow! Haven't seen anything like this ever!

All tables are anonymous - you can't even take notes on a player within a ring game for just that session. So no notes on bodog. If you're playing the ring game and see a donkey make an awful call - you can't record that anymore. You'll just have to remember that "player5" is a donkey for this particular table for this particular session - and if player 5 leaves and a new player 5 takes the seat - your read is gone forever!

Seems more stable, haven't played my regular 4 tables yet - but if I can play more than 4 that'll be cool.

Look and feel is only slightly different, looks better IMO. Lobby works better, is much less awkward, has better buttons to select stakes and games.

BTW, I withdraw about once a month from Bodog, they are the fastest out there. You get one free check a month anyways. I think the longest I had to wait was 20 days, it usually comes in less than 14 days. So don't worry Americans! (I'm in Texas)

When I played SNGS I used to leave if I saw too many pros sit down. How did I know that? sharkscope! Well, there's no way for me to find them anymore or know if they're there. I guess I'll avoid playing at times that are likely to be pro infested... On the other hand, they can't know you're a pro, so donkeys can't avoid you (but that doesn't really matter, donkeys don't really table select). I've seen other pros leave the table when I'm at the table waiting for a SNG. They won't be able to do that either. Still trying to get a grasp on this!

Just downloaded it now.... not much goin' on in the private tourney lobby :(

Can you not change the appearance of the tables?
No avatars?
I don't seem to find anywhere to change any settings in the lobby?

Also, just in a reg. $3rebuy, all the players are just given a 'number' & nobody has a name??? I thought this was going to be just on certain tables??? (they have those on other sites... where players can opt in to play 'anonymously')..... 'if' this is the way it's going to be on all tourney tables, I can't see who'd want to be playing on there if they have other options?? (no metagame reads..ie. one game Moorman is #24... & another time he's #48, #16, etc.). Going to check other tables in other tourneys now.

Details will be forthcoming, I'd like to think they'll let us continue to use this spiffy new software. I think I've heard Bodog officially say that yes you will be playing with the rest of the world.

So I nominate "Mohawk Poker" for the new name for 2012 USA ex-Bodog players. If they're regulated by the Mohawk Committee or whatever it's called...

Oh yeah SNGS are now 9 man not 10 man

So the 10 man double up SNGS are gone, replaced by 6 man DU's. I don't like 6 man DU's because they're prone to collusion; obviously anonymous tables are going to make collusion much harder to detect at this type of game.

OTOH I welcome the 9 man SNGS 10 man SNGS kind of suck.

This is seriously the worst 'upgrade'(<??) I have ever seen.
I just started adding in a few MTTs from Bodog to the schedule with plans of adding in a few more... also planned on taking shots in the $100K via the '30seat' satty. Doubt I'll ever even consider it now.

This is also terrible for potential collusion (imo). ie. player #3 & #7 you think could be colluding but now they've moved (or have they?.. maybe the new #2 is #7 who just left?). How can you keep track of any of this? (nevermind player reads & actually 'playing poker').
I can't see this lasting long. This is a joke imo.

Dissapointment

Very disappointed in the new software. No user names, just Player 1,2,3 etc.
No way to save notes or utilize old notes on players. Did not speed up a 90 min SNG. Tile feature does not work with two monitors. One sound when it's your turn to act, no reminders when clock expires.
Please come back Full Tilt!!!

All of this & more!!!

Bodog, wtf were you folks thinking? You've got to wonder if they even have poker players on staff when you see a software upgrade like this one.

Just wow. The 100% anonymous players at all tables is seriously SO BAD.

Bodog may not like that fact that regulars can win money from other players. But just like in a B&M casino, they NEED the regulars to keep games going. Fish don't like to start tables and generally don't like to play short-handed either.

I am in awe of this totally anti-common sense business move by Bodog. Is the plan to make poker so unattractive that players will go blow money in the casino instead?
