Bodog (Is it really a fishy site or am I just in the wrong games?)

Hi all,

I started playing on bodog at the start of the year and started with a bankroll of $110, with the 10% instant bonus, and it now only under $70.00

Even though most reviews say its one of the most fish poker rooms on the net, I just dont seem to see any positive results from the place. I really like Bodog and it would be a shame to leave there.

So my question is: what games are most profitable playing on Bodog with this bankroll, I am mainly a tournament player, and I play cash games on a rare occasion?

Thanks

James Godfrey

Ive put it down to the time difference. The players on there are mainly american so when we play only the die hard players are on as the fish are at work.

Ive found in the sng's everyone is still in when the blinds are 100-200. Thats not normal compared to what im used too. Eveyone plays so tight.

Started at bodog to at january, moved from merge, I find the site oki, but I know that when I change site or start at a new, I usually lose around 100 - 200 till I get adjusted to that site. But as Kardklub mentions you have to adjust to Americano timing, but that was the same at Merge it was also on US time.

I like it at Bodog, haven't won much, haven't lost much so far, but I am still adjusting my play to the site.

As for fish, there is always fish, but where the fishes are the Shark will come too.

Also I haven't withdrawn yet, and that's the importent thing, that that runs smootley too

I been playing lately at BD and seems they are as tight as anywhere, although the reports say fishy gamblers come from the casino side..I have not seen that personally...but the cards seem fair at bodog compared to the others and that is what keeps things luke warm there.

Use your bankroll management to decide where you should play.Go down one level, for example or avoid cash if you are indeed a tournament player, and as soon as your bankroll is back to "normal" go up one level.

Only thing I play anymore on bodog is the freerolls and heads up matches.
Everything else I used to do there just didn't seem to favor in my way.

The "gambling fish" theory makes sense, and the perfect tests are coming up with the NFL Conference Championships and then the Super Bowl. I would think that for those of you not in the US that that night after the Super Bowl is over should be good fishing on the sites like Bodog that also have sportsbooks, b/c not only will there be some folks with gambling winnings in their pockets, those same people will also probably be DRUNK!:D

Stick to Beginner $2 and $4 STT's and try and grind your roll up slowly but surely. If you are really any good you should work your way up to say $200 quite easily, they are easy to cash in. Re-evaluate what you want to do when you get there.

they have the best 10 nl ring game around
-10 cent max rake
try "beginner " sngs - they payout 5 places - 10 player
- ie 2+.2 pays 6-5-4-3-2
- and u can find them for 2- 16+ buy in

This is the best advice I would give. The competition on these is very soft, and you only need to reach the top 4 to make money (5th gets you almost all your money back). I have had a lot of success on these SnG's and if you play primarily tournaments this would play to your style.

After you get a bank roll give the 10nl tables a shot. I almost went bust playing these tables, but have tuned my game to fit the tables well.

Thanks for the advice everyone, I have just played in 2 $4.40 Beginner Sit and Gos and I came 2nd in both, I think I will stick at these for a while, because even with luck you should statistically cash 50% of the time...

Thanks again

How many players are these SnG's and what places get paid?

Is it the same as other poker sites?

6 players = 1st and 2nd get paid
10 players = 1st, 2nd and 3rd get paid

Id' love a 6 player SnG where 1st 2nd AND 3rd get paid:) Coz I normally finish 3rd a lot lol

At the lower levels they offer the "beginner" SNG's that pay the top five players out of ten (fifth will get your entry back-rake). I'm not sure about the larger fields, though. There never seem to be anywhere near enough players involved to get a game started so I have never played in one, but they have 27 and 45-ppl games available and it seems like I recall they pay out about a third of the players?

i went from FTP to BD and then back to FTP. I don't know BD don't seem all that bad. They are just tight players.

Bodog is crap. I played on there about a couple of years ago and wasn't impressed at all. I'm sticking with the good sites, pokerstars and Full Tilt. Anything else is a waste of time.

Bodog has always been great for me. Wonderful customer service whenever I have needed them. Only a phone call away. 1-888-#$%^$..... I'm still making head way at their tables and in some free rolls.

Was a bodog player when they opened but I left for Stars. Came back after cashing in my points and have never went busto since. I am by no means anything above an average player, but I find myself doing better in MTT's at Bodog while better SNG's at Stars.

Similar experience to hoffdaddy. Couldn't really get very far with SNGs but have managed a couple of wins in the $500 freerolls (and numerous top tables) and cash from MTTs. One thing I like is the fact that you get loyalty points just for playing. Once I get to 200 pts I play a 200pt SNG which pays in T$ and then pump that into MTTs.

Things are getting better @ bodog, finally did cash in a MTT so I am in + now, I think the beginners S'n'G are awfull thight thou, however the normal S'n'G seems ok, still a problem with the time, as an europlayer you end up like a nighthawk with way too little sleep, so I might have to cut, some of the play there, now I just need a reasonable win more, if I get that, then I will try and cash out, so I test that too.

BODOG PAYS TOP 5....SITS...

I have found these to be profitable over the long term...but they are of very little use as far as improving your overall game...because they are so different from any other....three little words might be of some help...PATIENCE...PATIENCE...AND PATIENCE.

I have found bodog.com to be fishy, seems like the cards that you need to avoid always hit on the river and knock you out, that is just the way online poker is i guess...
