Howdy to All,

So I had the pleasure of winning last weeks cc buy-in on bodog with the 100K seat added, so I have a ticket now for this tournament. First of all many thanks to cc for the opportunity to now be able to play in such an opportune event.

To begin I don't recall ever having played in such a large event online before, and certainly this would be the one out of any at this point to take down (given I have my entry). So I figured I would perhaps query the cc community as I know there would be some who have previously played the event, and perhaps could provide some insight on it.

Given it's a 162$ buy-in I would imagine most players in the event will be decent players, granted it also has a number of step satalite's I believe that can qualify for it.

With the GPSO going on over there now and this event being part of the series, would you figure its going to make for a tougher competition in the tournament or perhaps wind up with a greater varience field?

Again any and all feedback would be welcome, havn't decided when to play. Initially was going to play it this weekend past but actually have been feeling tired and off since friday so decided I would wait and perhaps play this Sunday in the event.

I would certainly hope to do well in the tourny, as any cash will be a nice boost to the br but of course I plan to go for a win if at all possible. So figure the community may have some points for me regarding the game specifically or just their experiences in the higher buyin online tournies etc.

Thanks,
bluff

Idunno dude, it's definitely easier than Locks. I've gotten a couple firsts on Bovada by reading opponents carefully and making very good folds, and getting your money in when it's good.

I have had some pretty solid success in the 100k. Roughly 40% cashes when I do play.

I would say play pretty tight/aggressive in the beginning , look for weaker players and try to accumulate as many chips as possible.

If you do not have a healthy stack towards the bubble it gets tricky. It becomes the Shove/Fold mode for most because of the escalating blinds.

Try not to flip for stacks early in the tourney, its not worth it.

Yeah kinda what I was thinking, haha. Figured never hurt to post in case anyone had any magical input haha. Certainly plan to do whatever I can to bring my A game, and most definitely the forum will know how it goes (even if i'm first person out which would really suck but will only happen if shomeone shoves at me and I have AA.

Thanks to others for responses as well, I did notice when I had a look last night that there are fairly quick blinds i think 12min each in this and that late reg is like 14 levels which is gross given its almost three hours of late reg (although anyone entering at that point is only getting 10bb).

So barring no internet or having to work on Sunday I'll be playing then, and will be sure to let everyone know how it goes.

Don't get too fancy early in the tournament - once the antes kick in you can loosen up a bit. Stay away from marginal hands when you are out of position.

If you are in good position and have decent opportunities take advantage of the nits when it is near the bubble. After the bubble the short stacks are playing very loose.

Have fun. When you're in a spot, say to yourself... what would Phil do?

Then don't do that. :p

Dunno if this sounds silly or not but most of the time when I play online poker after I have had a good cash out or ran good and made small cash outs for 2 or 3 days, I'll go card dead almost every game after for a few days or day when I log in & play online.I would try a couple of lower stakes game earlier in the day to see how your cards are falling. If your catching crap cards & can not make any connections I would think twice about entering and wait to the next weekend 100k tourney.Repeat again with small small buy in and see how cards are falling.I'll prob get negative feed back on this ,but this is just from what I experience from online poker.

Great advice debi, much appreciated. I am excited to play in this tourny the weekend and have actually been playing a scatter tournament last couple of days just to get a little practice in some large field mtt's as hadn't played them in a while. I plan to revisit a couple of articles in the archives here as well which I found were quite informative when I had come accross them originally.

I hope that if ever I was to run good that it will happen in this tourny for sure and that with a lotta skill and a little luck I can TID.

Have fun. When you're in a spot, say to yourself... what would Phil do?

 oh crap so I should have been paying attention to how you play so I know what not to do? lol, haha I'll try and stay away from tricky situations if at all possible and hope I have a tasty feed of fish all the way to #1.

hmmm, interesting concept I suppose although technically I could do that and run like god in those tournies before the big one and then crash and burn with a horrible run in the biggie. I see where you come from in regards to seeing how the cards are running for you, but we all know this can switch directions at the drop of a dime. I think I will base if I'm going to postpone or not on how I'm feeling (ie. get more than 4 hours sleep saturday night, have an up and working internet connection).

Thanks again everyone for the feedback, comments etc. As of right now my plan is to play this on Sunday and I will let everyone know how its going, might try and post an update or two while I'm playing but I haven't attempted to master that yet with the limited desktop space and all maybe on the 5 min break if I don't have to pee LMAO.

The GSPO has 10,000 starting chips while the regular 100k has 5000, I think.

I will be playing the Nov. 10 tourney.

I just don't like huge starting stacks, out of my comfort zone.

I would agree with what everyone said here with the exception of playinbig. I used to do quite well in those $100K Bodoggers. I imagine it's tougher now than a few years ago, but there will always be quite a few bad players at any buy-in level, at least until the field is reduced to 30% or so....the extreme late registration the sites have nowadays actually works for you, not against you, because since the late reggies are buying in for 10bb and therefore don't have the tools to play real poker, yet they love to do buy in very late anyway, since they have a disadvantage, it stands to reason that adds to your advantage.

Believe yourself could DO the best!
simply have a good rest, and perform your A game.
there is no control of what the results you run, but you could control, when to win , when to loss.

GL at the table.....

looks like i'll be postponing playing this today, bodog is connecting however i cant seem to connect to pstars, ftp, partpoker (web side), or fullflush. Seems lock and bodog are the only ones so given that could change any minute i'll hold off.

Thanks again for all of the input, its much appreciated.

Don't make drastic changes to your game just because of the increase in stakes. Just be aware that more people are capable of making moves in tight spots. Also post bubble play in these tourneys is key. So many players SAT in they are just glad to cash, and just give it away soon there after.

I won a ticket to a $100k via Lucky Draw Weekly on Bovada and will be playing this Sunday. My advice to the op is to let me win. :D

But seriously, I plan to take my time making decisions and just take it one situation at a time.

^^ I will also be taking part this sunday, won my ticket last night in a new player qualifier after being down to less than 1BB with 9 players remaining  gl!

I will just play the same way i have played most of the tournament ive played at bovada, play tight in the early stages, try to steal some blinds from the HJ/CO/Bttn, when i get a hand play it heads up against another player and try to squeeze as much value if its good, and also try to steal some pots if i sense that my opponent is weak or has a marginal hand. I just hope im not card dead for long periods like i was in the late stages of the qualifier.

For those that have taken part before, about how long does this tournament take?

If you just joined bovada or if you still have any "100k new player qualifier" tickets you can join that for free, 1st place gets a ticket to the 100k tourney and 2-10th get a 100k semifinal ticket. I got 5 or 6 tickets after i deposited for the first time so im sure everyone does as well. Another free way to do it is if you have a lucky draw weekly ticket, im not sure how you get these but im guessing its just random as i did get one of these once. In this one its easier to get a ticket as 1 in 10 get a ticket directly into the 100k

If those arent possibilities, cheap seats is the next thing. For $1 you can join and 1 in 17 gets a semifinal ticket ($16+$1)

There are other satellites you can enter worth $18, $20, $35 etc and of course you can figure out the odds to win a ticket into the $162 100k from there

Cardschat also has a weekly buyin tourny on bovada, there are requirements to gain access to the password but much less than the freeroll club. It's a 5.50 tourny, and it rotates on a biweekly basis where 1 week is 100$ added to the pricepool i do believe, and the next week it is 100k tourny ticket added so first place wins a ticket to the 100k. This would be where I gained my ticket.

So best value/chances probably the cc buyin game IMO because you don't have to trudge your way through a bunch of levels to win a ticket, just win first in a 5$ game, win cash by doing so and the ticket is a huge bonus compliments of cc (only the greatest forum there is :))
