I've played a little bodog poker and the casino. Considering US players choices are few, I would say I'm pretty satisfied with bodog. I would like to see more players at the tables at all hours, but it's not bad during the off hours.

I have an account there, but it seems like whenever I would get on it to play some poker, just didn't seem to have the games or amount of people I liked. Oh well, haven't been on it for a while though, maybe time for me to check it out and log on again.

Play on bodog

ATM it's the only site I play on, not a lot of PLO tables though but there are a few different players so I always see 3 or 4 players I've never played against before.

One problem I have though is that bodog has "cold seats" and "hot seats" often, you can play 200 hands and never have more than one or two good hands (nut straight or nut flush) and delt one crap hand after another, then you sit and play like 50 hands and have four nut FH's, three nut flushes and five nut straights. it's really strange the random card generator is "too" random in that you'll see strings of hands (like paired boards on half of 20 hands, or getting 3 diamonds on a flop 3 times in a row). I once saw a board making quads 2 times in a row. This could all be simple variance but I havn't played but 10,000 HE hands and 4,000 PLO hands:confused:

lol you set yourself up for this one, go see the online poker is rigged megathread...there are no cold and hot seats, and as far as something being "too" random...well I think you may have shattered every mathematicion's brain on this planet with that comment.

There are deffinatly cold and hot seats on bodog, you can play 100 hands have 10 worth seeing the flop, of the 10, 3 are made or have 13 outs to see the turn and river of those 1 or 2 are winners, that's a cold seat. Then you or someone else has the nuts 1 out of 3 hands for a 50 hand run. I see it all the time on the 0.02/0.05 PLO table. The hands do cool off but I see players make $20 in 15 min, then since they aren't good they loose it all when they keep chasing or they just leave when they start to loose. I've been in the hot seat a few times and I just can't seem to loose, most of the time I have bad starting cards for long runs and my good starters draw dead, there is some bluffing at the PLO tables but most of the time someone has made the nuts or second nut hand to win or two morons get in deep pre-flop and it turns into a coin flip.
"Too random" does sound weird but it's the "what is the staistical chance of 3 diamonds comming out on the flop 3 times in a row" or "what is the chance of the board pairing A's 4 out of 10 hands" things like that. How often should a board pair cards? 1 in 5 hands? 1 in 8 hands? what does it mean when it's happening 1 in 3 hands over 30 hands, over 50 hands? It's just really strange how the cards fall there. I must admit that this type of thing doesn't happen all the time, but things like this seem to happen alot.

But what do I know, I may just be seeing variance and noticing it and not paying close enough attention to the overall hands.

YOU may notice a difference between which seat your sitting in, but that's just the way the human mind works. People have "lucky" chairs at some home games I've been to also. This would be a superstition that I would compare the "hot" and "cold" seat theory too.

It's just variance, IMHO. Any time you sit down at a Poker Table, you could have a good run of cards and a bad run of cards. Having a good run doesn't necessarily mean it's a "Hot" seat and having a bad run doesn't mean it's a "cold" seat. I'm sure it could very well look like it, but it's just the way the human mind remembers things :)

Well playing last night against a really bad LAG I was 230 hands in when I just said F**kit and left. had 2 "winning" hands for decent pots, a non-nut flush and non-nut straight, after that I took about 5 hands down to folds all around. LAG guy was playing like 4 out of 5 hands, raising the pot pre flop on everyone of them, raising post-flop, raise, raise, raise. After observing my folded hands I would still have lost pretty much everyone of those hands with a couple of exceptions. Here he is going from $20 down to $4 and back up to +$20 over the span of a few (say 15 or so) hands. He kept winning by playing stupid and getting un-cooridnated boards for a back door set or 2-pair. The problem is that no one would call him because his hand always seemed just a little better than the callers. What was pissing me off is that if I could have a just good-enough to call I would, but I wasn't even making an over pair. I see these type of players a lot on bodog and it's always the same thing, you know they are playing too many hands, they do loose some big pots, but they just keep playing super LAG and you can't call or raise them because you have nothing and they rarely fold. So I would define a "hot" seat as not getting the best hands, just the one that's hands are just good enough to beat everyone else's hands. A-hole bets the pot with middle pair on flop with straight draw and ends up winning with 2-pair.
