Just a few minutes ago I was scrolling through the tourneys on fulltilt and seen a blowout tournament that cost 50 cents + 50 cents and I thought, who would play that and why?

Well there was one person registered with on minute to go and I noticed the winner gets a dollar and it cost you a dollar to enter, HUH!

Finally right before starting another person enters and I'm thinking again, WHY? LOL

First place is still just a dollar and it cost a dollar to enter.

I asked them what the purpose of this tournament was and never got an answer. So here I am asking the same thing, because I know my fellow CCers can explain it to me.

To top it off, while I was typing this, a third person enters in late registration. But now First pays 98 cents and second pays 52 cents. :dontknow:

AND IT COST A DOLLAR TO ENTER! LMAO

Please tell me there is more to this. It says nothing about getting you in another tourney or earning you anything.

Rofl, must be some joke. Maybe someone sets it up just to see who's stupid enough to enter.

I have no idea, watched them play for a while and could never get an answer from the people that were playing, all three of them, lol.

Sorry mods for not sticking this here to begin with and thank you for moving it. I was just in general poker when I came across this thing and was so stunned I didn't think about putting it in poker rooms section. Sorry, may bad :damnmate:

Thats some funny stuff. I've seen micro sitngos that are .25+ .+10 witch i thought was screwy but thats micro stakes. This 50 50 tourney is retarded though interested to see anyone explain this. Have to look out for those in the future and ask the people what the hell they are thinking.

Maybe the main thing of the tourney was for bragging rights or something. Another explanation is that that half of the buy-in goes to charity - you know that that 1.5 dollars can buy some kid a kilo of rice. :)

Hope someone comes up with the answer to this. It's right up there with "One place paid zero dollars".

Maybe it is a satellite tourney. If you finished first in the tourney, you"ll qualify for the next game, that"s why the prizes is so small.

Yeah, it is a private tourney and often it gets a few more players so that they actually pay out more than it costs to enter. The rake is high like all private tourneys with small buy ins.

Take a look at Go Hard Poker. They have a "Grand Slam of Poker" every Monday. $100 freeroll max. 100 entrants, $10 rebuys and $10 add on, and some actually rebuy for $10, in a freeroll! What are some people thinking?

Ok it was a private tourney, so i guess it was just for laughs that these guys play that kind. They wanted to be noticed and talked about. And hooray it worked! ;)
