I can't figure it out, help me. I usually finish in the money in Doyles freerolls with 7000+ players. onece in a blue moon I finish in the top 300 at FT with 3600 players max and seldom in the top 200 at UB with usually 5000 plus players.
Why would this be?

i dont think its the amount of players, i thin,k that its the quality of the players. I think it harder to finish in full tilt becuase the players are better

I've only tried the Fulltilt freerolls twice and really couldn't stand them. I've hacked it out in the Doyles ones a bunch of times and actually placed in the first one I tried on Jan.1, 2008 and with that cash I managed to build a bankroll there to over $300 although I've rarely played there now for the past 6mos. (I used to play the raked-hand freerolls when the prizepools were $500 and fields were smaller).
Other motivation for playing them on Doyles was that you could actually use the pennies for something there by playing in the super micro 10cent sngs (now 11cents).
I've watched a bit of late play in some of the Fulltilt freerolls as I've had friends who were playing in them and noticed that the play didn't seem to get a whole lot better from the 1hr. mark to the 4hr. mark (either too large of preflop raises, committing themselves to the pot once reraised, or just a ton of limping, calling, and min-betting... 5 to a flop and nobody seeming to want to bet out more than a min. bet... .weird).
I can't say I'd ever want to play in another one of them myself... I think the private ones are the only way to go, with Cardschat ones bein' the best for sure (although as more members reach the 50+posts,.. the play seems to be gradually deteriorating.. sigh....).
GL in the next ones you play!!

larger sites offer a larger field of fools, donks and preflop players...I think stars is the worst for this, but I'm a ft boy so of course I"m gonna say that

Very well said and thought out. Don't forget that a lot of the so-called freerolls have rebuys and add ons, so they are sometimes the equivilant of 5x the number of players..

Have you looked into the structure of each tourney.
How long before the blinds raise
How much the blinds raise
When the ante starts.
Are rebuys available.
Who can play in them.
The payout structure
ECT ECT ECT

These diferences also play a roll in your FREEroll
Big ups to Brooklyn

I don't consider myself an outstanding player by any means but the players at Doyle's Room are absolutely terrible. I consistently cash in freerolls there. I have even cashed in more than a few SNGs without even playing a single hand. So I agree the quality of players at Fools Tilt is much better than Doyle's Room.

I hear the players are alot better at full tilt. I dot know for sure, but is what I hear.

In regards to freerolls, likely not so. FT has 2700 FR player entries while Stars has up to 12,000 per FR. If there's 500 lotto players in 2700, there would be 2,000+ in a 12,000 Stars field - same percentage, just more of it per game.

different sites equall different caliber players. Fulltilt daoes have better players than most the sites i've played on but... the 3600 freerolls there are pretty much a good way to waste about 3 hours. IMO

Well, those Doyle freerolls are super super turbos. People play loose because the blinds climb up really fast. Also, with many people in it, it's almost impossible to get to the top 5 where the money is decent, so you have to gamble your way up there early game. People don't take them that seriously. So playing tight helps quite a bit. The other freerolls, people still play like trash, but because the blinds don't get up there that fast, you'll find yourself racing more rather than up against total trash like in Doyle's.

Freerolls are tough alright, but low stake buyin tourneys are just as tough, if they have rebuys. In the FTP $0.10 buy-in yesterday I had one guy rebuy for$0.50 eight times in the first 5 minutes. He finally won a hand after investing $4.00 .

Yup is the quality of the players cuzz the more players there are the mores stupid players you will have in there like for example you have 1000 players you could have only about 10% of them being all iners (it's just an example!!) and imagine if you have 7000 players that 10% would be a lot more players than the 10% of the 1000 players. You get be it's the quality of the players that matters!!
