I would assume that it's ok to go ahead and give support your PW. I haven't had an experience with BOL support yet, so I couldn't tell you for sure. But from any other support team, they usually just ask for your username and real name. Hope you get it resolved, Sunny! GL on the felts!!

I know with all financial institutions you never give out your password and I would think it is the same for this but I am not sure. Personally I would not give out my password.

I would STRONGLY and EMPHATICALLY advise you to NEVER play a single hand on Bet Online again. They are cheats & they have NO clue on how to run an online poker site. I've had NUMEROUS incidents with them regarding a cornucopia of topics.

1st is I ran my bankroll from zero to $10 on freerolls. I then played cash & got up to $600 and attempted to cash out & they wouldn't let me. I argued for over a month, calling EVERY single day, demanding my money. There ultimate excuse was how do U expect to get something for nothing. I informed them that was the definition of a freeroll. You risk NOTHING for something. They refuse to allow U to talk to a poker room manager. U must talk to an operator who knows nothing about poker. They take your complaint & they say they will get back to you, which is also a lie. There is much more on this incident, but I think U get my point.

They also allow illegal bets on the site. I was playing PLO and player A bets $5 on flop & player B goes all-in for $5.01. I called the $5.01 & they allowed player A to Raise. They said since player B raised $.01 that player A was allowed to reraise. I argued for over two months on this & they never refunded me.

Please, I implore U, to NEVER play another hand on this site for your own insanity.

Will look into this for you - could have just been a new rep who was not following guidelines.

Most poker sites require that you deposit before withdrawing - that is not unique to BOL at all.

I have NOT played on there in almost a year. At that time they would NOT payout freeroll winnings unless U deposited 1st.

BO is a junk site & my mind is beyond 100% made up that NOTHING will every change my mind on that. EVERY SINGLE day for 30 days straight I dealt with their ineptitude & every day felt like pulling out my hair in their blatant lies.

Bolded bit is a complete load of rubbish, dakota would never do that and Cardschat has too good of a reputation to get involved in anything like that, CC has been here 10 years now do you really think it would've lasted that long by dodgy dealings???

The next time you make an accusation like that you will be permanently banned.

We did go to 2p2 to check them out and could find nothing negative that wasn't at least 2 years old and found several positive things about them now including a statement from a moderator.

i did checked two plus two and sbs rating something through google.
BOL is something a C grade room, which is , as for not that many option US players, more or less fine.
but for me, it depends on their policy. If I don't like their "password" policy or something else, would consider not play there.

as for Cardschat, and Dakota, I don't think turth is hidden because of paid.
if you know the previous lock room problem, think Cardschat stop lock promotion because lock delay payment and lock's reputation, and think dakota{debie} helped a lot of members here for successful speeding up the lock withdraw.

Cardschat and dakota is more trust than betonline rep, I think.

Hi all,
I just signed up with BOL. After 5 minutes of finishing my registration, someone from BOL called me and wanted me to deposit. I was just wandering if any one else had the same thing happen and is this normal procedure?

this is what I got from Betonline

Hi XXX,

Thank you for contacting us.
In regards to your question, players are required to identify themselves by providing the username and confirm password in the event they require specific information about their accounts (balances, payouts, transactions) merely to confirm that the account holder is the one asking for this information. However, if you do not feel comfortable giving out your password, you can set up a security question to your account, so instead you identify by using your Username and confirm your security question.
Please accept my sincere apologies if this caused any inconveniences if this information was not clarified or provided when you made contact with us via chat.
If you have any other questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Best Regards,

personally, I don't like BOL's policy.
it seems not a normal way of business.
think to save myself from future big trouble, would consider join in later, if they are showing some improvements.
PS: most of the poker room/financial organization - bank, department sore, small company, etc etc, they will verify information, but Never ask for password to access customer's account from account owner.
understand it is depends on BOL how to running their business, but I think i am feel uncomfortable about playing there, under this policy with this kind of customer support.

Same thing here. They were quite pushy but if that is how they want to try to market their site I am OK with that.
I told them I would have to try it out before I deposited.
I wish they had other methods of deposit. I think it was only credit card or bank transfer and I am not comfortable for either of those for a poker site so unless that changes I don't think I will be playing there.

Such a terrible requirement. I would never play on this site because of this and many other issues.

They need to do security questions instead.

It's a sign of very poor system design (and business practices) but unfortunately it's not as rare as it should be. Some sites have really crappy systems or procedures to verify customers. It's probably even worse in that they store your password in plain text so they CAN verify it -- which means there's no point in not giving it to them, because they already know what it is. They're just trying to confirm that you do.

Businesses using proper security protocols wouldn't even be able to verify your password, because they wouldn't be able to see your password. Proper procedures include storing a one-way hash of your password such that it can never be reversed back to clear text. Identity should be verified by security questions and/or specific account details such as mailing address, phone#, SSN, etc.

This site has always sounded like a cut-rate joint anyway, and this confirms it, but they're by no means unique in having a technically crappy design and being out of touch with modern security protocols, even among poker sites.

In the rush to jump on the poker boom and make lots of moniez, many prudent practices were ignored, mainly because most sites were founded by non-programmers or amateur programmers, or used cheap contract talent to develop their code. Only after security breaches, cheats, and hacks started running rampant did things start tightening up.

I remember the earliest days of online poker, when client/server communications were completely unencrypted (to include passwords), to everybody's hole cards being transmitted in the clear to each client at the start of a hand (that was quickly exploited and corrected), to the server backdoors at AP/UB, to the fairly recent incident of weak and easily decrypted XOR-based encryption that Cake network was using long after others had adopted SSL, the industry standard for encryption. So things have come a long way, but there's still work to be done obviously.

I've never had them ask me for my password. And I've never been rooked by them in anyway. They seem to be legit as far as I'm concerned.

Depends on the business. Many ask for the whole 9 digits, some ask for last 4.
