Best site to win WSOP seat

Our local table pools some money to fund our annual champion's quest for a wsop seat. It's not much, usually about $300. In the past, our winner has taken this to enter a casino satellite for a one time shot.

If I can hold out one more month, I am on track to win the championship this year. I'm thinking my chances might be better if I took a few shots at feeder satellites on online sites.

So please tell me, where do I have the best shot at winning a WSOP seat? I usually play at bodog, but I don't know if they have enough traffic to generate many late stage tourneys. I know pokerstars sends the most contestants and has the most traffic, so that would be an obvious consideration. I'm familiar with the STEPS tourneys at UB and like that structure. Does PS have something similar?

If you had $300 to take multiple shots and try to win a big tourney entry, which site would you use?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Dont play the step. The higher ones are filled with SNG sharks who will destroy you.

Apart from that... do you really want to play a WSOP? I've seen the place and honestly it seemed sooooo much more fun to play cash games on the strip instead of that huge donkament.

belgo: talking people out of playing the WSOP since 2010

yeah, i want the donks in my cash games, not playing donkaments.

But really, when you play live, tournaments are tense and the players seem super stressed and really not enjoying themselves, while cash games are relaxed, people interact socially a lot more, drink a shit ton of alcohol, waitresses come a lot more often since we have chips to tip with, ... overall a much better experience.

Belgo, I always wanted to ask you, did I read right on your blog that you got in on partypoker on a $5 entry with very few entrants or something along those lines? How did you manage that?!

Well since this thread is going a little off topic, ill just say that pokerstars is the undisputed best website if you are trying to satty into the main event/ any other WSOP tourney.
ps. pm me if you beg to differ, don't bother flaming the thread

If I were you I wouldn't play a WSOP. But, if you want to try on your high concentration, good luck!

If I win locally, I'm contractually obligated to try for the WSOP. It's like a lottery ticket. Long odds on a huge prize.

Steps on Everest are good, but they're usually only good for a $1,500 buy-in event.

I'm with Belgo on avoiding the PS Steps, as they are generally filled with sharks who play them 24/7 at the higher levels. In fact, I'm not really a big fan of satellites in general.

online poker leagues and other promotions offered at affiliate sites are a decent alternative to satellites.

betfair ran a promotion last year in which players had to earn X number of Betfair points (I can't remember the exact number) from Jan to April to earn a seat at the WSOP which was the equivalent of more than 100% rakeback.

A friend of mine just did the same on Dafa Poker to earn his seat to the APT Macau and parlayed that into a 2nd place finish. :)

Full tilt, pokerstars, or bodog. Full tilt had a $1 main event qualifier and other bigger buy ins to the main event. Pokerstars has many satellites starting at $50 or so.

its a long long road, only the real lucky or super good players will get it in my opinion... stick to the cash game s on the strip, 10,000 bucks?in chances of winning v slim imo...

PokerStars holds a big satty ($640buyin.. or $215?.. I forget?) with 200seats gaur.. I know a couple of guys from my area that won their WSOP MnEv. seat in that satellite.
(I think it was $215...)

You can hunt around for special promos on the poker sites (ie. Bodog had some priv./affiliat sattys with satty tickets added (I think they were $500 satty tickets that were added) < might be worth a shot?
