I am going to be visiting some friends around atlantic city this summer and plan on spending a good bit of time in poker rooms while i am there. I dont really know alot about ac poker so i was wondering which ones were the ones i needed to check out and which ones to avoid. I will mostly be playing 1-2 nl and a few tournaments 100$-300$ type range. Anyone got any advice on which casinos i should be visiting for decent tournament structure and good action at the 1-2 game.

Most active poker rooms in AC,,,Borgata, Taj Mahal, and Phil Ivey's old stomping grounds the Tropicana. In that order. Its been a couple of years since I've been there, they all probably have bad beat jackpots now. The showboat, Ballys, and harrahs also active rooms.
I walked away from a table at ballys at 7:30 AM after playing about 60 hours, just couldn't go anymore.I ran into a girl outside ceasers that was at the same table as me, and she had a huge smile on her face,,I looked at her and said, no way, she said yep the bad beat (165K) was hit on that table 2 hours later, I was sick.
Have fun and GL

The Taj in AC just paid out a $672,115 bad beat jackpot when quad 7s were busted by quad Aces. It was an 84-year old man who won. The poker rooms were full for the last week once the jackpot got up there as everyone was hoping to hit it. It paid 1/2 to the loser, 1/4 to the winner and a smaller share of around 25k to each of the other players involved in the hand. A bit OT but interesting anyway...

I generally favor the Borgata on my few trips down to AC.

The Borgata is my favorite AC poker room, I live in NJ and when I take the trip to AC that's where I play. It's the biggest room, most spacious, the chairs are good, the dealers are quick, especially since all the tables have shuffle masters, the cocktail waitresses are the best in AC, and it's set back from any smoking area, so you won't have to smell any smoke once you enter the room. I'm not sure about tournaments, but they used to run pretty good ones on Fridays. They always have 1/2 and 2/5 going and probably the only casino that spreads a 1/2 or 2/5 PLO in AC on most weekends. You might not be able to shuffle your chips too well, as they have a static cling effect to them, but they don't accumulate dirt and grime like everywhere else.

The Trop has a good poker room, but it's small and crammed.

The Taj isn't the cleanest, and really skeaves me out.

borgata hands down is the best casino in A.C. their poker room is the biggest and they have the best guaranteed tournys. most of the other casinos on the strip attract the older crowds, borgatas cash games attract most of the young and inexperienced players. as stated above the waitresses there are by far the best looking in town.:D

Borgata for the best poker room and good tournaments, the Taj for the fun and drunken mayhem..

I Can't shuffle Harrahas chips either. Taj is sleazy, but theres lots of action. Remember 3 years ago, a 57 year old man stabbed like a 47 year old man outside over a table seat. Killed him. True story.
