Hi all-

I'm interested if anyone plays everest on here (or everest.fr or .it). If you do, I'd love to hear what you think of the software and how it compares to the other euro (non-us) sites. I can't play on those sites to know the difference, but any info you guys can give me would be most helpful.

(I'm doing a job interview with them and so all the background research I can get will be for the good! )

most interested in the sw like I said, but comments on games or tourneys etc wouldn't hurt me either.

Thanks all,

Bon

I have no first-hand experience, but I remember a poster named JMcCabe who plays/played on Everest. You might want to shoot him a PM.

GL with the job interview!

I play a little here mostly dons, just won a $100 step ticket so i may play in their big Sunday game,
Players are mostly euros, mainly french, spanish german, and a smattering of eastern slavic
Play is generally soft.
Software is clunky and I constanly get blinded out, hand history never works for me but I can rely on PT3.Surprizingly they dont chat there... which I like.
In spite of clunky software I like playing there, they offer numerous bonus's much like Party does
Cardschat player jmcabe played their a lot.
Below is screen shot of table

I've never played there (from the US), but I did work with some of their reps to set up a few events for CC a couple of years ago, and found them to be cooperative and easy to work with. If I'm not mistaken, it is one of the more popular non-US sites...perhaps some more of our members can attest to that.

Thanks to those who replied. The researched helped me show I was prepared and I got the job. As of next week I'm the product manager for their poker software! (I don't know their policy on me answering questions on the board but I wanted to at least thank those that answered!)

Can anyone tell me what traffic levels are like on Everest now? Thinking of signing up here and just wanted some input from current users. I'm mainly interested in the low limit SNGs really.

The traffic is good, because, for what I know, Everest already didn't accept US players before the Black Friday.
Specially for the low limits players, the traffic is even better. The reason is, probably, because a lot of people use Everest to build their bankroll, cause they offer free sit'gos. So, usually you don't have to wait much time to play on low limits SNG's. Also, always have some tables available on the low limits cash game, specially if you are looking for NLH.

I dont like the looby, its ugly and slow.
Not so many traffic.
Soft play.
Few games and few stakes to choose.

I was playing recently cash games on Everest. First it was fine, but now I' running extremely bad. So, I have to quit. Also no bonus which may help with variation. Soft is OK. Sometimes slow but I could grind 6 tables without problems. Minus - no timebank, especially needed on speed tables. And many nit, tags even on NL10 . I expected it to be more soft as it was 2 years ago when French players was allowed.

Free sng are some tables with 10c prize and 0c buyins. It's a waste of time if you can beat at least 2 NL :)

Agree with timebank.
Yeah , shasta tables are quite a waste of time, but its almost a secure prize since players are so weak.

no timebank yet, but as of ~monday or tuesday there will be auto-tile and auto-cascade windows for your multi-tabling pleasure. And for the .fr players, no more annoying popups all the time. (They'll know what I mean)

Thats great news. I did a trial run multitabling some shasta tables and it was a bit of a nightmare.

For multitabling it's better to add 1/2 and 3/4 pot bet buttons and increase bet with wheel. Min bet should be removed. While tile can be easily done with ahk script and placemint there are no free working solution for pot bets at this moment

though i have pretty much gave up grinding anything since my tilt roll is frozen i recieved a free 50 for everest so i tried them out.
I would say all in all pretty soft , really nitty play so far. I've been doing some cash and these 50/50 sng's and my winrate is pretty sweet that 50 is up to 150 after three days. it may be the switch from mixed to nlhe but my play seems to be crushing i might even abandon br mngmt and move up limit early....yeah it's that soft.

@nuts , i agree that the bet sizing is inadequate however I have been finding since I'm too lazy to punch in or do the effort to change the bet size the min/donk bet has been getting me more action and if I really want to protect my hand I just pot it so...I dunno maybe my style will change because of these drawbacks.

Sorta. I'm in charge of the features in the software, which is why I've asked a couple of questions about it. However, I'm not a customer service rep!

(You guys have no idea how many people and groups it takes to run a poker company... still surprises me even )

So, I can keep track of software related beefs that come up, but I make no promises other than to not miss em.

Cheers!

Registered just to comment on this thread. :)

I like the games on Everest, however the software has certain problems which greatly impact the gaming experience.

First of all, there's no rationalization for having a minimum table size of 640x480. Most poker rooms allow much smaller tables and the games still remain easily playable. With a minimum table size of 640x480, the tiling option allows only 6 non-overlapping tables on a 1920x1080 monitor, which I assume is the common maximum. If the size of the regular tables cannot be decreased, I'd suggest a separate mini-view, such as in the old iPoker software or current Microgaming software.

Secondly, when there is overlap with the tables (which is quite often), the "Bring to front" function does not help much. The problem is that the table pops up regardless of whether another table requires action or not. After the recent addition of cascading tables, this issue is especially important, as tables popping up before the player has acted on the first table makes cascading pretty much useless. On how to improve, please look at the pokerstars software, where the tables pop up in the order of urgency, but only after the player has acted on the table which popped up first.

Third, the bet slider could use improvement (I think this was already suggested here). Buttons for selecting the proper bet size preflop (3bb, 4bb, 5bb) and postflop (1/2 pot, 3/4 pot) would be a great addition, especially for multitablers. The current Ongame software offers a simple example, and other software such as PokerStars and Microgaming actually allow the player to customize the bet slider according to their preferences.

I think earlier Everest only allowed the player to open 6 or 8 tables simultaneously. This restriction has been lifted since, but the software hasn't been updated accordingly. I hope future updates improve multitabling on Everest poker, as that is currently my main reason for not focusing my games on the site.

A few more things, although these are not as essential in my opinion as the previous ones.

There's an interesting feature in the Everest software which seems contrary to the current industry standard. When you raise in a no limit or pot limit game, the amount raised is added to what you have already invested in the pot. Say you are in the big blind, there are 2 limpers and you want to raise to 5bb. Typing in the amount for 5bb will actually raise to 6bb, because you already had 1bb invested as the big blind. This also happens in 3bet situations. I know some tournament players actually omit Everest from their tournament schedule due to constantly messing up their bet sizing. Pretty much all other poker rooms have the raise amount as the total amount being raised to.

Also, an auto topup option would be great for NL and PL games. This has been implemented in most sophisticated poker software, so I hope we'll see it on Everest soon as well.
