Plenty of us here make money playing online poker. Some more than others
You have to realize that 75% (or something close to that) of players out there lose money playing poker online. So just because you're losing doesn't mean that you're playing against bots.
I went through about four poker books
(reading a couple of them twice) and a bunch of tutorial videos before I became a winning player.
Getting "amazingly beaten" by bots doesn't make sense, and I'd guess that you have a bit to learn before you can correctly identify what's going on at the tables. Bots don't do amazing beats.
As for trying a new site, PokerStars (http://www.cardschat.com/poker-stars.php) is a good one, and CardsChat offers a nice additional bonus. Full Tilt (http://www.cardschat.com/full-tilt-poker.php) is also good.
Basically, these are the two big names in poker. They make a good amount of money from the rake in their games, and the invest millions in advertising and endorsements to keep their image up. Any cheating is bad for business, as they're making 5% of the pot in the thousands of ring games they have going at any given time, and 10% of the entry fees to their S&G's and tournaments.
I guess they *could* still be cheating, but it'd be like killing the goose that lays the golden eggs.
