Can anyone share their experience with this site ... the pros and cons please.

I know it is USA friendly and have some good friends wanting me to join them there. I already have too many sites on my computer, I think.

What say you?

Thanks, Wally

They had an ad on WPT Season 10 (Fox) last night so they must be doing something right. Is this one of those monthly fee places?

Ah. Thanks. DR was one of the rooms that didn't allow KY players (though I live in OH my ISP is there) so I uninstalled the software. I wonder whether that policy is still in place.

I have played there, but, not for a while. Not too many players there.

Average graphics, couldn't figure out what place I was in though, how many left in tourney unless I went back to lobby. Don't like that. I like to look in the chat box and see what place I am in and how many left.

Don't have any $ there and not willing to put any there. May try the freerolls again. They have a weekly/monthly FR that looks interesting. I will have to check it out

ACR is a site I've been spending most of my time on

They have a solid Freeroll series that has more value than most sites offer( if you can make it into The Weekly and Monthly MTTs)...all the information is available on the site regarding this which is what brought me to the site in the first place (and the fact there are few US friendly sites available)

I like the site, personally...I have yet to cash out...I've been rolling with the same $50 and grinding steady. I've had some bad runs that would last up to 3 days where I'd lose steady and often(, but I also would recover and get back to my original $50(I'm currently at $44.30 after losing half my BR after a bad run)

My bad runs were similar to what would happen to me on pokerstars and partypoker long before Black Friday(the usual story). I'd lose consistently to river magic when having my opponent beat, or my solid starting hands couldn't even catch a damn cold leaving me heavily frustrated...you can read a thread I posted a few weeks ago where I discussed having 12-plus AK(many variations of suited or off-suited) hands that consistently choked on me during a 6-hour period of SnG games and FR MTT... but, luckily my losses were minimal that day(roughly $7) and I took the weekend off instead of being a glutton for punishment

Regardless to each run of bad luck I recovered my losses each time(even recently I dropped to just under $22 but I again made it back to $44.45 by playing $1 to $1.50 SnGs)

I play there daily...if you're not up to making a deposit just look into the Freeroll Series and give it try and decide for yourself

Good Luck

I have been recommending the site strongly since they changed the horrible ownership of DoylesRoom and changed the name to Americas CardRoom. Slowly but surely they are rightfully losing the image and bad taste in the mouth that DoylesRoom frequently gave poker players. They are offering a crapload of promotions. The site is nothing special to look at, just a plain interface, no avatars, but

Things that Americas Cardroom is doing to attract players:

*The Software seems to work properly without constant freezeups, etc (can play up to 20)
-Tournaments & SnG Fees; Included in rakeback calculations
-Bonuses are deducted from rake
-Honors old accounts DoylesRoom 33% Rakeback

*100% Bonus Deposit up to $1,000 (note that it has no expiration to complete nor gets voided with cash outs)

*Deposits - takes visa debit or credit transactions; Western Union, Moneygram

*Cashouts - Offers Debit Card so you can use ATM to get cash (seems that Checks to American players are by far faster than Cake and Merge though, I would say a bit slower as Bovada and intertops but by far more reliable than Merge)

*Player to Player Transfer

*The Network is definitely small, but there's a pretty good amount of action on medium and low stakes tables compared to recent DoylesRoom activity (6-10 tables usually). The major tourneys on the weekends can field 400+ players. Most of the tourneys during the day have less than 100 or even 50 players.

April Promotions

*$500,000 Liberty Weekends
$500,000 will be spread out over three major guarantees

$10k GTD and a $50k GTD playing every weekend and Liberty Quarter Million guaranteeing a $250,000 prize pool, playing on April 15th at 7:00pm ET. This will be the largest guaranteed tournament available to US players since last year.

250-Seat Super Satellite on Friday, April 13th at 8:00pm ET. It cost just $36+3 and awards 1,000 points in April's $60,000 Points Race. They have many satellites everyday for as little as .50 or 33 Combat Points.

*$60,000 POINTS RACE
Points Race can put up to $8,000 in your players' accounts! 275 places will be paid out and Special tournaments will award extra points for the leaderboard.

*$10,000 SIT N' GO MANIA
Just keep playing SnGs all April long. As you do, you’ll earn points toward Sit ‘n Go Mania Leaderboard. At the end of the month they award $10,000 to the top 125 point earners. First place scores $2,000

*$5K SATELLITE CUP
$5,000 up for grabs by earning special leaderboard points by playing $250k GTD Liberty Quarter Million satellites. Pays Top 75 satellite players, First place receives a $1,000 cash prize.

*FREEROLL SUPER SERIES
All you need to do is win your way through four rounds of Freeroll poker

Round 1 – The Daily
8 Freerolls awarding from 10 to 50 seats to next round– EVERY DAY

Round 2 – The Weekly
Prize Pool: $750 in total prize money for the top 100 players

One Round 3 entry will be awarded for every five players in the tournament. Each Round 2 tournament awards winners with $5 in Tournament Dollars. You’ll need the Tournament Dollars to enter Round 3.

Round 3 - The Monthly
Prize Pool: $3,000 in total prize money for the top 100 players

To get to Grand Finale Freeroll, make it into the top 500 on our special points leaderboard. Only round 3 freerolls award points towards the leaderboard, and you’ll earn them based on your performance.

Round 4 - The Grand Finale
Saturday, October 13TH
Prize Pool: $25,000 in total prize money where a Punta Cana Poker Classic prize package for the top three finishers is included

By far, the most promotions offered by any US Cardroom.

As far as I know in terms of sites where Americans can play it goes something to the tune of:

Merge>>True Poker>>Cake Poker>>ACR.

I only have experience with the first three but have heard some bad stories from others and read some not so nice stuff about ACR over at 2+2.

read some not so nice stuff about ACR over at 2+2.

I follow the 2+2 threads closely, and the only bad reports talked about ACR, is when they were DoylesRoom. Completely different, respected owners now. You may want to read it closer. Then if I have missed something please post here or let me know. As a matter of fact, one of the more respected Mods, poker insider (Pokeraddict) on 2+2 recommends for US players to only play Intertops & True Poker/AmericasCardroom.

I have seem zero complaints about ACR, except for the wishlist people have to improve the software.

I follow this stuff pretty closely since I am an affiliate for many sites

Note: True Poker and ACR are on same network

WEC is more thorough than I am, obviously, but AC is currently the easiest US friendly site to work with and has a reasonable amount of players... my opinion was general and basic, and WEC gave you the true skinny

GL to you

SNG and MTT pricing starts at around $3-$6 so there are no low price reliable games to get a BR started from freerolls or a small deposit. Other than that, the only other thing is their are few or no private games or private freerolls going on.

Get Americas Room ATM card so you do not have to wait on checks :)

Is that a Something they mail you? I'm assuming with the first cash out. Do you know if it's reloadable or do they mail you a new card with every withdrawal, more like a gift card?

Been playing on AC ever since it changed from Doyles Room. A different forum I belong to has monthly cash races there. The micros are very soft there and any decent player with a bit of discipline will do ok. Most of the action is around the cash tables due to the cash race held each month. SnG's dont get much attention and tournies are the same. I dont play the big buy in games, and the time difference plays its part, but there could well be action to be had when these games occur.
They are fussy about withdrawing, insisting on proven ID. I am against that. They take your money, no questions asked, then bleat about fraud when it comes to giving it back, but thats another issue.
Overall, I like playing there, theres no bells and whistles, what you see is what you get. Software is very basic, but I have not had one crash or freeze since playing there.

software seems half-decent to me. Very much improved compared to how it was when DoylesRoom was first on there (it was ridic bad then... bad beyond belief). Software seems better than some other rooms I play on (ie. Everest Poker, iPoker network,... )

How does one go about getting the Debit Card on ACR?
*Player to Player Transfer
used this ^ on 'TruePoker' & was surprised to see I was able to transfer back a stake I'd received, leaving only 18cents in my account & having never deposited/verified etc. A big plus imo

I've played some of the satellites for the Big Sunday tourney they have on there & was shocked by how bad the players were (are). Also watched a fellow CC member (railed him for awhile) playing that Sunday$250k & couldn't believe how bad so many of the players were on the tables. Play you'd expect to see in something like a $3buyin on Cake.

Freeroll series sounds painful but awfully tempting! Punta Cana Classic prize would be very cool for a 'Pro Freeroller' like myself! :) I've actually reg'd for one today but doubt I'll be home for it.
