Americas Cardroom Million GTD - Overlay? [Update: Cancelled]

I'm not playing in the ACR Million guaranteed at 3:00pm today - but it's very interesting. Including entry fees, they will need about 1,852 players, at $500 + $40 a pop, to get to a cool million. There are 580 registered players now so there is a ways to go. I'm sure there are many people who have qualified and not registered. They have been running tons of satellites. It does seem entirely possible that there could be a nice overlay and I wondered about others prognostications about this.

Also, I know they have had some issues lately, but I bet this goes off without a hitch. I wonder if the recent issues are coincidental to the upcoming big tournament. Lol. I've heard everything from it's related to the other Swedish attacks at other sites to server "issues".

This is a big thing for ACR and I wish them and everyone who plays good luck! Someone is going to be very happy, and several others are going to be feeling ok as well. 36 places pay over $5K! First is gtd $200,00!

I think I understand where you are coming from. I never have played in a tourny that the money was not covered. There is not a poker site out there that can take a lick like that. I just don't trust things like that.

There is no doubt that it will be full..cos i have never ever seen any mtt not filling with 1 mil gte... anyway gl to those who are playing it

Worst case scenario: $500k overlay -> they go broke -> they steal everyone's money and disappear

anithing is possible,i think ACR can support a -500k ,and yes this is a good overlay

WPN million dollar tourney canceled

"Due to circumstances out of our control, we have been unable to provide a stable, fair gaming experience. Many players timed out, while others remained connected. As per our terms and conditions, the tournament will be canceled and buy-ins and fees refunded to all participants"

Looked like there was going to be a HUGE overlay, but I hear the tournament was cancelled.

It did get cancelled, and they are issueing refunds to everyone!! I hope winning network doesnt go down and I hope players stay there... People need a place to play poker, but hopefully they take a satnd start mass withdrawing and hope winning network does something good to get people back. This was a bad thing...

Including rake, it ended up having right around the number of entrants needed to cover.

Thought I heard it was due to disconnects/game stability and such like hit carbon earlier this week. With that much money on the line, it was just to tempting for the scammers I guess if that's what happened?

Last time I looked they were close to covering. Of course that doesn't matter now, but it they can stabilize WPN, they got a shot at it.

Yeah actually they had a good amount of entrants there b4 cancellation.

ACR reissued the 1M gtd on Feb 22nd next year.
so looks like game is going on that time.

So how long did the tournament run, if at all, before they called it off?

I've seen a lot of players complaining but I agree with the site for what they done. With moving it to February that gives more players the chance to play. When people say I feel bad for the guy that was chip leader at the time.... Who's to say he'd have that stack in an hour? I, as well as many of you Im sure, have seen people with huge stacks lose it in a short amount of time because of poor decisions. As for if they should refund those who played satilites I don't think they should. So say you had to play 4 to get in and didn't cash you would be out of the money any way. Those who may have Satileted in then busted out but then want the refunds along with the main tournament, are they considering they get another chance to win what they've spent back. I think what happen was completely out of ACR's control. They probably should have canceled the tourney earlier in the week, but atleast they had the guts to do it

Why are people saying they should have cancelled it earlier in the week? Did they know earlier in the week there would be connection problems?

LOL , i understand with overlay they do not want to be at a loss and it is better to move the tournament to another time..

Why was doing the tournament if they do not can cover money on overlay...

They have been having connection problems similar to those that Carbon is having. I have read a thing or 2 and the possibility of a hack has not been disavowed.

If you are gonna run a game like this, you want a stable platform. They were not sure when the game started, and it wasn't just yesterday. So the call for it being delayed earlier is not a totally outrageous notion.

I hope there are new satellites for this tourney.

It wasn't delayed because of overlay - as a matter of fact to my knowledge by the time it started there was no overlay.

At the time that game started there was ~~$400K overlay, but with late registration, and re-entries, but the time it was cancelled they were very close to covering.

Yea meant to say by the time it was done registering.

So much fail in this , with how hard they marketed it to flop like this is embarrassing . They just lost a large chunk of the people that were gonna give them a shot . Pretty standard stuff post BF though ...
