Howdy chatters!
I recently have had some interaction with the support teams of two different poker sites for two different reasons. In both cases I was left with the after-effect of feeling like those people either consider me stupid or are definitely stupid themselves.
First case:
I tried to download the app for 888 in my recently (and reluctantly) aqquired smart-phone. No success as it seems that 888's presence in Greece is either borderline legitimate or at least contested. As a result, my ISP reroutes me to the Greek Gaming Commitee's page, every time I try to connect via WLAN. I wrote an e-mail to support stating that I couldn't download the app and asking if i were possible to send me the package (888.apk) attached to n e-mail. Here is my mail:
Hello. Is it ossible to e-mail the .apk package to me,as it is not possible to access the site via my mobile?
(I know, I didn't type the "p")
Here is their response:
Dear Vassilios,
Thank you for contacting 888poker .

3. Login using your existing account username and password.
4. Once successfully logged in, simply choose the game or tournament you wish to play in and enjoy!

2. Visit: http://www.888poker.com/androidapp/
3. Click the ‘Download Now’ tab to start downloading the 888poker Android Tablet application.
4. Upon the download completing and in order to install the application to your device, please select the file: 888poker.apk
5. Launch the application and login using your existing username/password to start enjoying this new playing experience at 888poker!
If you require any further assistance with this or any other matter Vassilios, please feel free to contact us.
Kind regards,
(You probably already have noticed that it's a copy-paste from 888's FAQ section...)
I was rather disappointed and somewhat frustrated by the fact that someone took the time to answer my query and all he did was copy-paste the according FAQ section, which I had already read without any success. I mean, unless you are extremely ignorant of how the internet works, anytime you encounter a problem, the first step is always search an answer in the FAQ tab. So, they either thought I was too stupid or ignorant to do that, or they didn't even bother to read my extremely short and specific message!
So this was my -rather pissed-off- response:
Hello Larren.
I think that you didn't read my message. I specifically stated that the
site is NOT accessible via my mobile and asked if I could receive the .apk
package via e-mail on account of that. You replied with the FAQ solution:
"In order to play using an Android device, carry out the following:
1. Enable Non-Market Apps on your Android device, by selecting: ‘Settings’
then ‘Applications’ and finally enabling ‘Unknown Sources’.
2. Visit: http://www.888poker.com/androidapp/

If you *did* take the time and read my message, you'd realise that I
already tried that and that the site (http://www.888poker.com) cannot be
accessed via my mobile. Why the FAQ would I ask you to send me the package
if I could download it? On top of that, the reply can be found in the FAQ
section, so why bother copy-paste-ing it in an e-mail?
Thus I have to repeat my query:
*Could you send me the .apk package as an attachment to my e-mail?*
Thanks
This time they took the time to read my message. So, adding the expected -not so useful directions- they replied:
Dear Vassilios,

The bold part is for laughs I guess...
Case number two:
You probably already know that parypoker stopped doing buiseness in Greece since last summer. Uppon the incident my balance was some dollar and change in real money and some twenty-odd tournament dollars. I contacted them via live chat and asked to withdraw everything and close my account. I hoped that -as many sites do- they would convert tourney bucks to real money at a lower percentage. They declined, said that tourney bucks are not redeemable and that my real money balance was too low for withdrawal. I thanked the representative and asked them to close my account at least until the day they re-opened buiseness here.
A couple of months later, I received a letter similar to the one I will post later, stating that because of my lack of activity in the site, they were forced to charge my account with "administration fees". If I didn't want that to happen, I should "hit the tables". I was rather pissed (again), at the fact that they wanted to charge me for the inactivity they forced uppon me! How preposterous is this?
I contacted support(again) and asked the rep to keep my petty cash and tourney bucks, and close my damn account, so I would never have to hear from them again!
Recently I received this:
You stopped doing buiseness in Greece, you wouldn't withdraw tournament dollars-yet you drain them for "administration fees"!!! What exactly are you administering? An inaccessible account? An account which I specifically asked to be closed and your representative at that moment agreed to close? (I could access live help then, not anymore). There is nothing I can do, so plesae stop bothering me with all this nonsense (administration fees charged because the site itself rendered my account inactive). You really insult me with those messages. I repeat: At the moment the site decided to throw Greeks out, my account had a little over a buck in real money and some 20-something tourney bucks. I asked to withdraw those but I received a negative answer. I was sent a message lateron regarding "administration fees" and contacted support in order to close my useless account and relieve your administrators of the burden. I was assured that it will be closed and now your team returns with the same crap.
So: "Close the account, keep the tourney dollars and be done with the issue. Please do not contact me again, unless you want to apologise for this conduct, or in case you decide to re-open buiseness in Greece, in which occasion I expect a FULL refund, as any "administration fees" are a result of your (the site's) decisions and actions and in NO way my responsibility.
Have a happy new year.
So, here is my question to you, dear chatters and friends:
Am I in truth a grumpy old fart, or are these people incompetent and/or stupid?
I sincerely need your opinions, because if the former is the case I should do something about it. (Like visiting Jack Nicholson for "anger management course")

Recently I received this:
Hi ΒΑΣΊΛΕΙΟΣ (PsychoVas)!
We would like to let you know that because it’s been more than 6 months since you last played for real money on our website, your account was charged an administration fee of $ 5.23 on 01-Jan-2017. This charge is simply to help us cover the costs associated with administering and maintaining inactive accounts such as yours.
If your account remains inactive, it will continue to be charged administration fees on a monthly basis until the balance is zero. After 6 months, we are going to withhold the remaining account balance.
We charge a maximum of EUR 5 (or the equivalent in your currency) per month. If your account balance is below that amount, we will make a one-time deduction of the remaining amount.
The fee is either deducted from your remaining account balance or if your balance is zero, we will clear pending tournament Euro/dollars you could have used for poker. If you want to check if you still have tournament Euro/dollars in your account, please go to your account.
Please note that we do not charge your credit card or bank account. The administration fee is solely deducted from your remaining funds in your gaming account.
In order to avoid the administrative (inactivity) fee, you may either withdraw the remaining amount from your account and close the account or reactivate your account by logging in and placing a bet or playing any of our real-money games before 30-Jan-2017.
If you have forgotten your password, you can either click here to reset it, contact our Customer Service team or check our Terms and Conditions.
We hope to see you playing again soon!
This time I was furious! @#!%$ site is %$#@! kidding me??? If that is not irony, what the %$##@ do I call it?
