All in shootouts

I will start by saying I am not a fan of these but I am pretty sure our CC member Daniel loves them. (She won $750 for first in one)

So far Both poker stars and 888 have used them in their current promos with Stars giving cash and 888 giving merchandise.

My thought is how much longer will it be until it is a buyin product and if it becomes a buyin product who here would play them?

I think a lot of people would. It is kinda like a lottery with a poker twist.
Lotteries make lots of money for the people that put them on.

Any thoughts are welcome.

In part they already exist as a buyin product in the form of flipout mtt's on ftp, only different being its only a single round of the allins and then its an actual game to play.

Also full tournies exist on some sites, like intertops and prob the other revo skins called kamikazi tournies. I know partypoker has a hu game where its just an allin flip.

The flipout seems to have some popularity on ftp but i think its only going to be something that can exist where there is traffic to find the players who are willing to play them.........but the kamikazi style allin shootouts like these promo's would be pure gamble as a buyin so anyone looking for anything besides an absolute gamble I don't think would be bothered other than possible throwing in a buck here and there for pure gamble.

I see such things as a kind of rakeback.

You play some hands and then they reward you with such funny tickets...

I have played the flipouts at FT with the tickets I got on the last FT promo. Never made it past the first round but found them interesting.

I was thinking that a high traffic site like Poker Stars may add them with a $1-$5 buyin.
I can see a lot of people wanting to gamble a buck or two. If they got a couple thousand a game and first paid $500 they may do alright with them.

People like to have a straight gamble once in a while.

I think the allin shoutouts does not has much to do with poker.
It would be the same as a coinflip, and I think if you do not have influence on the game (like slots) it should be seperated from a pokerroom.

I would never spend a penny for these "tourneys".
But they are ok as promotions like in PS.

Although I have tried them, I have never been a fan of them. This is not poker in my eyes as no skill is involved with the outcome. I can see the attraction for those whom wish fast action, but lets face it, it is just pot luck if you win or make the money.

I totally agree that it is not anything remotely resembling poker and I would never put any money down on one in the same way I never buy lottery tickets.
I am just curious if they offered them whether anyone would buy them
I am pretty sure that almost all if not all the CC'ers would not be buyers of these.

Well, those are only good for some promo freerolls.
Noone wants to play with 30k players for 10k prizepool.

So those are just some kind of rakeback (and PS thinks it looks better to give you 10000$ FREEROLL TICKET, then to give you 30cents).

Don't let the government see these. Then they will really think poker is all luck.

Even though I'm not a huge fan of these tournaments, I already played many of them, but only those with small buy ins. Once I stayed in 2nd and recovered my investment. :)

For me, All in shootout is not a poker tournament, there is nothing related to poker, i hate bingo or lotto players, and that tournament is so stupid, and i will never play it.

Why would anyone want to play them for real money? You're taking all the skill, and fun, out of poker. You might as well play casino games if you just want to get lucky.

What is your attitude to all-in tournaments when players go all-in every round independently of their will? Player can even be absent and win. Would you spend some money or time on making tasks for taking part in it? Because it's not poker, it's lottery.

You're right... it is lottery... at the moment I'm really disappointed with Pokerstars due to their promotions that you win an all-in ticket for. Their is also a problem with their software that locks it up when the all-in tourney is running. I've been locked up playing proper tournaments due to these all in shootouts and have ended up shortstacked due to them. You would think that a company that claims to be "the home of poker" would be more inclined to promote poker rather than bingo. Don't get me wrong... I love pokerstars... but I'd much rather have a chance to use my skill as a player than play an all-in shootout.
