Okay this seems ridiculous to me. Think of how much money they would be losing if this actually came into place. Many people would probably not make an account at pokerstars just for this reason....i wouldnt. I would go to another site and deposit there. Seems extremely stupid to me.

But why would they do this? is it a law that is going to be enforced? i just cant quite work it out. Seems almost unbelievable to me.

Why does this seem like a big deal to you? If you get carded in a B&M casino, would you think it was outrageous?

See post #14 on that thread:
We must have this info on every single RM customer. The first group we've emailed are Supernova VIPs.

Scotty

Wow. I just bought a prepaid visa to deposit on PokerStars too. I'm not sending them my ID, I know that for sure. Looks like I'll be using this gift card for something else.

I really can't see a problem with this either. Almost all the sites that I play any sort of volume on ask for some form of id. (Apart from Stars I may add).

I don't get why people are willing to let thousands of dollers sit in what for all intents and purposes is a bank account and still refuse to send an id ?

I have never sent anything to Fulltilt at all...

Still Pokerstars are on a mega mission asking for all that data from people... Be interesting to see if there going to do it all or not.

I may email Pokerstars to find out whats going on because i have an account with them!

There is no big deal. It takes two seconds to scan a utility bill. What are you afraid of, all they can do with it is possibly pay it for you. I am all for that.
If you are who you say you are why is it an issue.
I have been asked for 2 forms of ID many times irl for different things I don't see how this is any different.
I would gladly send if asked.

this is absolutely no big deal. if you cash in a B&M casino they will always ask for your players card, and drivers license or state id. cant imagine why anyone would object to this.

They are only adhering to guidelines that they must adhere to in the Isle of Man.

It is no big deal - just do it when asked lol.

Like others have said this is normal practice at most sites, It is also one way to get rid of multi account holders.

They should have been doing this earlier. It's just one more step to help prevent multi-accounters. Establishing identity also makes playes more accountable.

Bravo, PokerStars.

Unless you are practicing fraud, the checks are mailed to you with your name and address anyway. Not a big deal.

They need to know my adress to send me a check?! For what?
Thats just too much information they are requesting imo.
Screw that.

I don't understand why anyone complains about this issue. When Full Donk asked me to provide the same info to verify my account, I sent them what was requested with basically everything but my name and address blacked out. The account was verified within a few hours.

I'm planning on sending stars the same info on my own before they ask.

On page 2 the ps team member Scotty said this will be done for all real money players. I have no problem with this at all.

I am curious though. Someone on that forum specifically asked him if this has to do with U.S. players and asked if by sending in this stuff he is verifying he is a U.S. player and hopes after the new year his account won't be banned because he live in the U.S. Scotty never answered that one.

Duh.

Full Tilt required the same information of me before I could cash out from them. I had to scan my liscense and a bill and fax/email it over. This is just standard real world precautions finally making their way to our wild wild west of the internets, get over it.

Pretty soon, if we're lucky, we'll be getting taxed up the butt too here in the US. It'll be worth it. Because if you want to do this for real, then you ought pay your taxes lest they catch you not doing it with a real income, and you really get stuck taking it like its your first day in prison, cause it just might turn out to be. And even more awesomely it'll open up another bit of a poker boom. Ahhhhh poker boom, I long for your ultrafreemoney awesomeness again.

I guess it's easy for some people, but to some, it comes down to a few things; where they live being one them.

Pokersites are pretty sketchball if you ask me with no federal or state or any kind of regulation for that matter. The only people they answer to is themselves. Also, they are a company who is accused multiple times of money laundering. Its not like we are at a casino who answers to the gaming commission and what not.
I am still going to send in my info tho lol but I can understand why some people might be a little put off.

It's no biggie to me if they request it in order for me to withdraw money from any of them. It's similar to be carded at a bar or live game...no big deal!:)

You 2 have obviously never cashed any money out at either site because they will require it to do so. This just will speed up the cash out now because that info will be on file. Unless you move of course then have to send new info.

My issue is that PokerStars needs to establish a more conventional verification process. I'm sure others would agree too. The whole sending out an email telling people they need to email them back a photocopy of their ID and utility bill isn't exactly a professional way of implementing a new requirement. Email isn't always the best way to communicate when dealing with thousands of individuals. The way it should be: The PokerStars client software should be updated to allow the individual to select and upload 2 verification image (files) from their computer. The 2 images will then be uploaded over a secure connection to PokerStars and stored in a secure location. I don't know which member of management at PokerStars decided the best way to verify everybody's identity would be to mass email asking them to email them back. Hopefully they'll read this and consider drawing up a new plan. I was about to make my very first real money deposit on PokerStars before someone posted a link to that thread, and apparently it's been authenticated. I won't be making my first deposit until this has been properly implemented.

I think it is very good,It protects us and them from fraud.

We are trusting them with our money and when you go to any bank, they will do the same.Just think of the poker sights as a bank.
