Don't give up on ACR. This has happened before and they have recovered.

The DNS attacks on AC are apparently personal - they're instigated by a group of people that have something to gain from taking them down, however temporary.

That is just pure rumor, grilldoggy. Nobody knows what really happened. I have heard it all too. From being held for ransom, cyber attack by the DOJ, some punk kid just doing it to prove it can be done, rival poker rooms wanting to bring them down, and even negligence on the part of ACR themselves.

Unless you know what actually happened, best to keep rumors in their place and not perpetuate them.

From what I have seen, the DDoS attacks happen about twice a year. This last attack was by far the biggest to date. But, this is happening around the globe to other institutions as well -- banking for one, and even prestigious tech sites like GitHub.

The attacks forced ACR to scale back on the types of tournaments they normally provide. When they get things under control, they will be back.

I hope you're right on this one Shady Slim. I myself am relatively new to the forums, but you seem to be on the forefront of what is going on with ACR. They seem to be the best option for US players atm and I hope we can look forward to bigger and better things going forward

how does scaling back the type of tournaments help them withstand them?

That is their words, from what I have gleaned so far from the ACR Rep here at CC. AFAIK, the servers handling the tournaments were the targets of the DDoS attacks. If you remember, other things were still usuable, such as the Cashier and the Cash tables.

I really don't know that much about what is going on behind the scenes at ACR. It does appear that they have a handle on things to some extent. Right now, I am wondering why they have not opened up the tournaments, and what is taking so long.

And you are right. They are the best game in town for people in the US. There is BOL too, I love their software over ACR. But they don't have much to offer like ACR does.

I guess patience is the only thing I can advise. Anything else is a waste of energy. :)

I normally have massive lag and frequent disconnects on WPN but since their return after these last attacks the software has been the best it ever has for me for years.

Hopefully that is a sign that they have improved their servers.

I think ACR is fine. They seem to be able to handle those past attacks. I haven't heard about nothing bad happening to peoples accounts. I was in a tourney and they paid me out. I was satisfied with them. It's my favorite site and I hope they can stay around. They've been around for a long time and I don't see them failing...

First of all, there was only one update to the software about a week and a half ago. Second, the lag was not caused by the software, but was a result of over-burdened servers. It is the same software that you have always been using.

With that said, I have experienced an actual software issue on two occasions and both during game play. The first time was last week when ACR reported having problems with the main lobby. At that exact time my entire OS became unresponsive. I closed every application I was running (which took a while) and the problems persisted. When the tournament were cancelled, including the one I was in, I promptly closed the ACR client and everything went back to normal.

I experienced the same thing for a few minutes during the CC freeroll on Sunday. Again, my entire OS became unresponsive. I knew what was in store for me, so I shut down all applications including the ACR client. I started the client back up again and was taken right back to the table. I lost about 5 minutes of game play during a crucial time of the game, but still managed a 4th place cash.

Tons and tons of shady talk about something we're apparently not supposed to speculate about. If you're telling me that one person did this, then I apologize for being wrong and using the word 'group', which would seem more likely, but I digress... maybe the attacks aren't personal, but I wonder if AC feels the same way.

I took a break from ACR I had a bad run then they had the technical issues. I will back soon as would most of the players once they show over a period of time their software can be reliable.

Hi.
I have been playing on ACR relatively recently, but I never had technical problems, and I hope that there will not be problems in the future either.
Good luck.

I experienced the same problems with my system freezing as well as the client. I enjoy playing ACR and hope that the IT folks have resolved the server problem. Thanks for the information, Shady Slim.

I’ve never played on ACR but I’ve seen so many others speculate about the existence of bots and collusion. What have you guys experienced?

So, I am not the only one. Happened again last night. It lasted for about 10 minutes, then all was fine. During that episode, I had pocket Kings in the SB. It froze and by the time it recovered, my hand was folded.

One thing the ACR Rep asked me in a PM was what was my OS, CPU in computer, and how much memory was installed. Can you PM me with your details on that please? Want to compare and forward to their tech guy -- I think I will be calling him today, because this is getting a little irritating.

I haven't had any problems the last couple days. I hope that they are able to completely fix the problems they had. They have the best selection of tournaments.

ACR TECH HELP

Shady Slim,

I am attaching the system info.

Thank you and as always, good luck! KK is a power hand and to me in the blinds is even more. Sorry to hear about the fold. Lots of times, if played right, can be an easy double.

Those cancelled tournaments really pissed me off. I'm playing on a crypto site which I like. Might be back on ACR is they fix DDOS attacks maybe next month.

I agree and about 600 others must as well, Pablo. It's a great way to build strategies. Good luck!

It's been having a lot of issues over the past 30 days. Acr is questionable at best.
