Anyone else have this problem? I installed AP a couple of days ago, and my whole computer freezes somewhere between about 2 to 10 minutes after starting the client. Once when opening a tournament lobby, and the rest of the time while playing. Sometimes everything just stops (but I can still see my desktop), and sometimes the whole screen goes grey.

I haven't had any problems with any other programs, including various other poker rooms. It's a more-than-powerful-enough PC, I've run various anti-virus/malware progs, etc. (nothing found), but it still keeps freezing. If anyone has any ideas, I'd love to hear them.

(I've also just written to AP support; but it doesn't seem to be a common problem (at least according to my net searches), so I doubt that they'll be able to help me...)

mine does that also....if ur playing table and click on the lobby, it just sits there and shuffles the players and rank...freezes up bigtime, dont touch anything and usually after few minutes its ok. Bitch if u playin another site, but sometimes they keep running, just slow. Maybe a glitch in Absolute Poker software and next upgrade will work it out.....hoping!!!

ps..im running XP!!

Thanks for the replies, guys. Glad to know that I'm not the only one. But it might be a good idea if everyone who does have problems, would write to their customer support (support@absolutepoker.com). If no one says anything, they don't have any reason to fix the software. The more people complain, the more likely that something's gonna be done about it. And you don't have to write a novel detailing every little thing. Just a couple of sentences would do. And mention that you know tons and tons of other people with the same problem, to add a little pressure. :)

Ultimate Bet is...

Excuse my critique here,
BUT ULTIMATE BET IS LAME!!
I recently installed it for the sake of the OFC.
I am trying to get familiar with the graphics and user interface.
But seriously this is so....... 'NOT SMOOTH'.
I tried some freeplay and what a JOKE!!!
You have to actually leave the table to re-load play chips.
and the lay out is perfect if you are used to Win.97 style prehistoric
command boxes and it JUST FEELS CHEAP...
like a 100 dinky car set and really bad wheels that cost $2.00 at a buck store.
Phil Hellmuth Jr. You can have that crappy site all to yourself..
No wonder all the Class Acts of Poker
are on Full TILT and PokerStars..!!!
I have to say PokerStars is going to be my Preferred site still,
Bad beats and ALL!!!! LMAO!!!
At least it feels like a Genuine HotWheels, and Plays smoother than Ultimate Bet ---Any Day of the week!!!

~That is my rant for the WEEK~make that for the MONTH!
...(what a waste of a post!!)

Oh-kay. Nice rant. But this is about Absolute Poker, not Ultimate Bet. I know they're "related", but I don't think it's the same thing. Not yet, anyway.

:) Hi everyone (My first post), I have something important to you guys.

Absolute Poker officialy doesnt work with Windows 98

Those guys sent me the follwing email:

We have some important news for you regarding running Absolute Poker on Windows 98/ME.
In the very near future, Absolute Poker will be adding some innovative features to make your time at the tables even more incredible. Unfortunately, at this moment, your operating system does not support some of the technology behind many of our innovative features.
As technology advances, it is becoming more and more difficult for software developers to support older operating systems. Shortly, your playing experience might seem less than optimal due to the restrictions of Windows 98/ME.
If you would like to continue to enjoy a flawless experience running the Absolute Poker software, and to take advantage of an advanced user experience, we suggest that you upgrade your operating system to either Windows XP or Vista.
While we respect that you feel comfortable with your current OS, we are committed to employing all the latest technology in advancing our software and eliminating any technical inconveniences for the majority of our players. What is more, these new features will provide our players with an even better gaming experience.
If you choose not to upgrade your operating system, you may continue to play at Absolute Poker. Nonetheless, keep in mind that the game play might seem less than perfect. You may also access our Instant Play software at any time, a solution that is not OS-dependant. Please note that our Instant Play software does not offer the full suite of poker games available in the downloadable client.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns, feel free to contact our Technical Department at techsupport@absolutepoker.com.
In other forum, xXTheNutzXx told me that he upgraded his computer to XP just to play at AP, since he is a VIP member he received a free tshirt just for doing this. Apparently they can investigate if you were using Windows 98 and then change it to XP, if you guys are using windows 98 you should do the same, receive a gift and continue playing...

It is a 10 years old program, you should change it for self respect anyways...

Windows 98??? are you guys freaking kidding me?

I have been a poker player for a long time now, and i have seen the software evolution at AP since few years now. And I can tell you that it's necesary moving on in technilogy matters. I mean, C'mon... why are you guys using windows 98? Is your computer installed on a cave and your connection is a dialup using fred flintstone's hornphone?

If you want to play at the TOP poker sites, you will need to update your system and your computer!

I would recommend you buying a new one with windows XP and use that old piece or museum in your garden for planting flowers!!!

You guys must be kidding me!!! aren't you?

Ok... I agree...

I mean, if you don't have money as for upgrading your operative system let's say $150 hardly, may be it's because you are not doing it well at the tables!!!

Come on? who are you guys? "The league of Exrtraordinary Cheap Poker players"?

Uh, if you're referring to me, I don't have any need to upgrade my 3 month old PC (with XP.) And anyway, I'm not sure why you all insist that everybody upgrade to OS's which keep crashing all the time. Might as well stay with 98 and save the money. Also not sure what not upgrading your OS has to do with your skill at the poker table.

As for my problem - they couldn't tell me why it keeps crashing, and offered to hijack my PC and take a look around at a time which they couldn't guarantee me. So instead of waiting several hours during which someone may or may not find the time to help me, and giving a complete stranger access to my computer (not knowing what he hopes to find), I think I'll just wait for the next software update. There are enough other poker rooms to play in the meantime. I also mentioned that other people have the same problem - no comment.

Oh...

They offered a netmeeting right?

let me tell you a story...

one year ago I had a "firewall problem" with Absolute Poker, and I used all the intructions they gave me without success, it was sad because I spent a lot of money with them.

There was a guy called Alfred or Albert... I am not sure about his name, I remember his english sucked but he went inside of my computer using a logmein.com software (Now I use it for bussiness it is really cool btw) and he found that I had spybot and he fixed my problem in 15 minutes... well that's probably the main reason why I still play at Absolute Poker, my computer is still safe and AP gave me a lot of good and bad moments in the last year and I can't stop playing, I don't know any other poker site with such tech support department, they are slooow but they are gooooood

It is a good experience, I you don't believe me ask them about your security as customer

He said I could get an appointment for him to get remote access to my PC. But he couldn't say when exactly he would get to that appointment, and it could be a couple of hours later. Um... yeah... like I have nothing better to do than wait around all day for someone who probably won't be able to fix the problem, since I'm 99% sure that it's not a problem at my end. Not worth it.

Well, I am playing at Absolute Poker righ now, and there are many other players doing it too... you think we have the same problem? The software is the same... we used the same link from their website...

But well, this is not my problem, I just tried to give a good advice and you are just negative, I don't even know why you posted this topic if you don't even care about it...

See ya

I don't recall saying anything to that effect.

I just tried to give a good advice
Praising Absolute Poker as the best thing since sliced bread is not very useful "advice." It's great that you've found a site which you love, but that doesn't help me or anyone else with this problem, unfortunately.

and you are just negative, I don't even know why you posted this topic if you don't even care about it...
Just because I'm not in love with Absolute Poker's customer service, doesn't make me negative. Please read my previous posts. I can't detail it much more than I already have.

And finally - don't take someone having a different opinion about a product so personally, mate. You enjoy it, that's great. If someone else doesn't - who cares? Relax, dude.

Yep, I've been having same kind of difficulties after I installed the new version of AP. Works ok but when I open the tournament lobby the whole thing freezes. Works good if I have no other sites open though...

No DownLoad Play

I have a Mac.. and the only way to play is using their "no download java client". I use FullTilt because they support MACs....

That might just be worth taking a look at. Thanks!

Kinda makes me wonder why it doesn't occur to their support staff to mention that... :icon_scra

Have you tried uninstalling your program...then running all your spy ware anti virus stuff restarting and downloading the program again ??? the program may be fragmented or corrupt. Delete your cookies and internet cache too before reinstalling the program. Give it a try nuthin to lose

I'll give that a shot sometime soon. I think waiting for a software update probably wouldn't hurt, either...

I had a freeze problem at AP in a 5 table sit & go where my table was frozen in place, after about an hour of play; I could navagate the program and view other tables working and could go to the Lobby view and see my hand being wound down by the blinds but couldn't do anything to get my table working. Really weird. I have XP pro and cannot figure how it would be my system because their system said I was connected and everthing was honky-dory. It's life in the computer online poker age and they are in control, not us.

I've had this issue also where i bring up the lobby in a MTT and my processor jumps up to 90-100% usage as it tries to load the lobby.

I have sent an email to support asking how to fix this.. I've yet to recieve a reply.

Have you tried uninstalling the software and then re-installing?

Though, personally I think you could skip the second part of that :D
