Hello, im new to this online poker stuff. In fact i was directed to 888poker site by an advertisment. They claimed to give a free 8$ for any new member. So i decided to register, even tho i was sure i would be asked for card details etc. For my surprise no such details were needed and in short, i end up with an account with 8$ on it.
I refuse to believe that they give 8$ free to anyone that register, even if its once per IP, so i want to know whats behind it and how it does work.
How the hell do they profit if the money only goes to other players? and if they give so many bonuses as they claim? I doubt advertisements cover it.
As an example i want to know: Can i now withdraw these 8$ or even if i decide to play with them and earn 15$, can i withdraw those?

Is it safe?

Thanks in advance

It's legit, 100%.

888 are one of the most legit sites around and have been around the longest.

Them "giving" $8.00 is nothing to them..lets face it, they make millions per year.

Even if you never deposit money..you will be paying rake in each game you play so they will easily make money back on you. If you lose your $8.00, they hope you deposit because you have already established the site is soft and great to play on. Even if you don't deposit, it really is nothing to them to lose that money when you consider how many will deposit/pay rake.

Don't worry about, try run it up and enjoy.

It's called 'cheap advertising'. Think about it... you tell two friends (or a whole poker forum) & they tell two friends... & so on.. & so on... & so on.

As far as withdrawl funds goes. You might need to make a deposit first prior to withdrawl (& then withdrawl using same method as you used to make the deposit). I'm not sure though. I took the 'Free $8' on there, then won $100+ in a freeroll (Cardschat freeroll) & a bit more playing micro cash tables after that. I still made a deposit after this, just so I'd have a quick & easy method for withdrawl (I didn't bother to check to see if it was necessary).

Took the $8 and made it last a few weeks ran it to $42 then gradually dwindled it all off.Liked the site ( it is honest) and the players. Worth doing why you wait for FTP to re-start.

I think you would have needed to put in the BONUS CODE, from memory it is Free8.
If you didn't get it, send an email to support telling them that you made an account and forgot to put in the bonus code, they may give it to you if you ask nicely.

Good luck.

Apparently nobody has a clue about this "free $8". Whenever a poker site wants to give me 'free money' I am always a little wary about it...

Here is what you are agreeing to when you get the free $8, which it clearly doesn't tell you when you sign up:
There is a withdrawal restriction on both the $8 and any winnings you make with that $8. Both have to be turned over 40 times!!

Example: You buy-in to a tourney for $5 and win $100. You now have to spend 100x40 = $4000 worth of buy-ins before you can withdraw that $100.

So basically if you accept, and wager that "free $8" you will never see any winnings you make from it. Unless you play ALOT. God forbid you hit a big score of $1000+. That would be a rude awakening.

Copy/paste from my chat with live agent at 888:
....
you: what if I win $25 with the free $8, can I withdraw that $25?
Alice: no
Alice: you have to play the 8 and the winnings 40 times
Be warned.

I also have only good experience with this room.
Their MTTs are soft enough for me to get into the money in 80% entries and this bonus is a good chance to try them.
If you cash 80% of the time you're probably playing wrong.

There is also a $5 Free long-time Promotion from PokerTime Poker room on the Microgaming Network. It is common these days for sites to have a play-through requirement for Free Bonus Accounts (although 40 times including winnings is pretty steep).

PokerTime requires:
Prior to withdrawing any amount of this bonus, the player must earn 20 Real Rewards (You will earn 3 Real Rewards for every $1 in rake or $1 in tournament fees.)

Unbelievable, you really have to play the winnings 40 times ??

I understand having to play the 8 and or reach a certain amount of player points.

But forty times the winnings??

What if you deposit straight away and then say yes the winnings all came from the deposit and the losses from their 8. :D

Like the little boy given a coin for ice cream and a coin for the church collection. As he trips and one of the coins rolls down the storm drain. He looks up to the heavens and says well god that's your coin down there.
