I am playing at 888 poker for many years. My level is 180 . But the last year it has become lesser and lesser atractive to play there,
In the past they always had great challenges like the pirate map and also a lot of freerolls depending on your level.

But now ? Is it a sign that 888 is not doing so well anymore ?

Most of poker sites have cut freeroll promotion, for lots of players only play freeroll. That cause some burden for net work.

I have notice 888 is less attractive as well. It used to have better promotions now its underwhelming.

Exactly. The idea of freerolls and other promotions is to get more people playing in those games, where the poker site earns a rake. Or maybe place some sportsbets or visit the casino. And if this dont actually happen to a large enough extend, then why would online gambling sites continue to literally give money away?

If you are not there solely as a "free-rider", then playing on 888 Poker has not gotten any worse. Although to be fair nothing particularly interesting is going on with their MTTs at the moment. There is no series or anything extra, just the same regular schedule, they have had for a while, with some occational adjustments here and there.

And yes it was been a bit of a rough spot for both 888 Poker and other sites, since the COVID-19 lockdowns ended. 888 Poker has had to deal with a lot of overlays, but things do appear to have turned a little around lately with volume picking up slightly again.

Could complain about a few things this year but not on 888 anyway think it is still a good site even though the club games and freerolls are a bit skeleton these days with all the meat trimmed to the bone,:icon_porc:eating:
No complaints by me 888 literally for me this year has been one big blast.:top:

Freerolls and promotions in poker rooms today sound almost as funny as elections in Russia)

Good afternoon.Although 888 is not in its prime, I still find it an attractive site to play..There are still many freerolls to play.It would be great to have CC daily freerolls on 888 like Stars or Americas Card Room.

Today I was actually able to see some freerolls on 888 Poker, so apparently they have changed their policy regarding swedish players. They have a number of "daily 200$" freerolls throughout the day, which apparently we can now also play.

And what people need to understand is, that even such a small freeroll can eat up the entire profit from one or more normal MTTs. For instance the 4am CET 11$ PKO is 2.000$ quarantied, and if it reach that guaranty, 888 Poker gets to keep 200$ as rake. Sometimes it might be a bit more, but other times it can be less because of an overlay.

I actually played one of these 200$ freerolls, and while I also played 5 normal MTTs during the session, a lot of people dont. The freeroll saw more than 2.000 entries, and for comparison the 11$ PKO only sees 200 entires, if it reaches its target.

So to be honest I am not sure, its even profitable for 888 Poker to offer those freerolls. And for me personally it would be much better, if they scrapped all freerolls and lowered their rake instead. Especially where the rake really hurts like in cash games and SnGs.

TBH I feel kinda bad for them since they are one of the sites that cares/gives back the most to their players.

Here's what I think they are doing wrong:
#1 They don't have many interesting games that players enjoy like Spins or Allin-or-Fold (They have Blast, but I doubt that is as attractive to poker players who wanna "prove their skills").
#2 Their rake for SNGs and Cash games is quite high, which keeps grinders and even some recs away.
#3 Their software feels messy, and crashes more often than other sites. (For instance, in PS it's very intuitive for a rec to go and register for a 6-max Hyper SNG with 2 or 3 clicks. In 888 they'd have to go the the full lobby, carefully scroll through a long list to find what they're looking for (at least in the new update))
Also their avatars look ridiculous.
#4 !!! They don't have streamers or replays. PS/GG/Party keep their players engaged with their streamers. That keeps their players entertained and brings in even more players. I think this is very important for building a large userbase.
#5 Their rakeback system is crappy. They give very little back as a rakeback to players, compared to GG for instance. However, I do have to mention they do give a lot back in the form of tickets or freerolls.

Since some players mentioned it, 888poker was arguably the best when it came to freerolls. It still probably is.
I remember them having a two daily $3000 freerolls no longer than 1-2 years back, which are now replaced by five daily $200 freerolls.
At some stages, they were offering like $17k in different in daily freerolls. One had to wonder where all that money come from? I was actually wondering how they weren't going bankrupt.
Also there were a lot of satellites with overlays.

My guess it that it was not sustainable, especially since many players would only play freerolls, so that's why they decreased them.

I think it was a good decision from them to decrease the daily freerolls. However, it would be even better if they introduced a good rakeback system like GG, so the players didn't have to go through the hassle of playing freerolls for some little extra cash.

I would be really said if this site went bankrupt. I think they really need to implement some changes such as what I mentioned in my previous post.

My guess it that it was not sustainable, especially since many players would only play freerolls, so that's why they decreased them.

Exactly. Even the largest MTTs on 888 Poker only generate around a 10.000$ price pool, which is still only 1.000$ in rake. So how can it be sustainable for them to give away 17.000$ every day in freerolls? Sure they also earn rake from cash games and SnGs, and they earn money from casino games and sports betting. But even so 17.000$ per day is a lot of money for a small site like 888 Poker.

And people need to understand, that nothing comes for free. Someone have to pay for freerolls, and its not the poker sites, who pay for them. Its those players, who play in normal games and pay rake. So are more freerolls really, what we want as players? For me the answer is clearly no. That last one, I played on 888 Poker, saw 2.000+ people competing for 200$. A min-cash was 10c, and the first price just over 10$.

Sure if you are completely new to poker, you can get some practice without risking anything. But for anyone else its a waste of time, and it would be much better, if they spend the same money on lowering for instance the rake for SnGs. Which might then revive this somewhat dying game format.

Maybe not as good as they used to be but GG has no freerolls partypoker had almost no freerolls and pokerstars only has the Cardschat freerolls. So I think 888 are still doing better than all of the sites.

PokerStars also have their weekly "reward" freerolls, but to play these you need a ticket, which you only get, if you pay enough rake to earn a chest. So its essentially part of their rake-back system. And the fact, 3 of the largest sites in the business have largely stopped hosting non-ticket freerools, should tell people, that its just not a sustainable business model :)
