I've read the threads of people saying 888 is more fishy than stars.
But these were old threads. I wonder is it still true today?
I've moved up from 2nl but not sure whether to focus on 5nl stars or 3/6 cent
888. Anyone can say they make more of a profit at these stakes here?

Also how would you compare the bonuses each site gives you in return? The rake is much higher on 888.

As a 888 user, I can tell that 888 is one of the softest (if not the softest) sites out there. They atract a lot of new players with their $8 no deposit bonus, so there is a massive donkfest at micros 2nl, 5nl, 10nl.

Webcam tables tend to be the loosest and attract the most fishes.

As for bonuses, they are pretty much the same for both sites. You get $8 free on 8888, which is a fair deal and a 100% bonus and some freeroll tickets i guess.

Bonuses are far from the same on both sites. Stars takes less rake and gives you a better rate of what is essentially their form of rakeback. 888's bonus system is shit.

As for play, yeah 888 is much worse. The players there are so lolbad I could beat them in my sleep. As you say though the rake is fairly massive. I would say it depends on your volume, if you plan to play lots of hands then Stars is the only way to go really. If you plan to play fewer tables (888 has a max of 6, I think) then 88 is probably best for you.

888 average player is soooo much worse than on stars.

I agree with ScottishMatt, the rewards system is awful and stars wins hands down there. However, given how soft the site is and how much bigger winrates/roi%'s can be makes it for an overall more profitable site for a winning player. You actually get grinders at stars who have some knowledge of poker and quite often you'll find at least 1 or 2 regs even at the micros. 888; I'm pretty sure from my last experience playing cash games it's literally all fish and new players at the micros. Not sure about the low/mid stakes but I'm confident they would be no where near as tough as stars.

The only reason I don't play a lot there is the software being crap along with multitabling not being as easy as it is on stars.

I have also tried years ago 888, and idon't like it. Poker platform in 888 is not good, graphics etc. pokerstars and FullTilt is better.

Im looking at the cam tables and the amount of players per pot is ridicolus.
Only thing the cams put me off, hearing kids and stuff going on in the backround. lol
Can I mute the cam audio and disable the video and is the rake the same as non cam?
Also there doesn't seem to be a 5nl only 3/6c.
I only have 2k hands recorded with a winrate of about 15bb/100 at 2nl on stars so I think its time to move up...

Edit. I actually like the software. Viewing hand histories from previous days is convenient instead of getting emailed last x amount of hands. Hiding bankroll. But can't customise bet sliders which is annoying if you want to 2.5x and that

Actually, I was reffering to their first deposit bonus offers, not VIP club or rakeback programs they offer.

So yes, First deposit bonuses are pretty much the same, but I agree that Stars has a better VIP rakeback program definitely.

I fully agree, takes too long to rotate the table!

Glad its just not me :)

I had to close 888 and try to open it again as it was really laggy for me, I was seriously thinking of getting rid of it as it was doing me head in lol.

May I also attest to the fact that 888 is by a million miles softer than pokerstars. I moved from stars, and having grinded for 5 months from nl2 up to nl20 following a very nitty BRM, I would suggest I am we'll qualified to make this assessment. As far as rake vs player pool goes, the extra amount charged in rake/lost in lack of reward system is compensated 10x by the amount spewed off by the impatient fish that frequent the network with alarming regularity. Micro stakes win rates of 20bb/100 are ENTIRELY acheivable over significant sample sizes here with diligent table selection and a solid game.

Best of luck.

I deposited $9 dollers this weekend and made $800 on 888 I've had 4 final table cashes this month in around 10 attempts, ranging from 250 - 800 players ish.
the games are soft in tournaments there tends to be two types of players,
the maniacs who pay you off, and the timid players who open limp and give up pots if they miss the flop.
if you find yourself deep in a tournament with these breed of players, its a goldmine and you can become a chip magnet if you have reasonable tournament knowledge and positional hand range knowledge,
you get to see alot of hands and it can be pretty easy to take pots aswel as getting payed off.

even at 50NL and 100NL there are plenty of players that dont know what they are doing,
generally bad players with no bankroll management knowledge will dive in with a 50.00 deposit or 100 deposit thinking its the norm, also reacreational gamblers are well known to play medium stack games on 888 and their lack of game knowledge is easily notable to even a semi serious player

I fully agree, takes too long to rotate the table!

after $5.35 sit n go's the games get pretty tight, 10.60 20.00+ etc, still alot of bad play but steal ratio is more succesful
unlike stars where you get alot of people in Super turbo's who will re ship on you or cause you alot of head aches.

888 you can simply take a limp and either win the hand, steal or give it up.

My biggest bankroll builder is 10.60 sit n go super turbo's on 888 and big tournaments
