I only play for very low stakes on 888poker as a pensioner.
How can they possibly justify increasing their rake on games such as these by over 100% this week - are they not making enough money without bleeding us dry?
low stake 6 seat SNG entry was 10c plus 1c entry; now 8c plus 2c. In my book that's a rise of over 100%. Perhaps cardschat should review their new price structure.
At this rate I'll be helping them buy Chelsea football club!

888 poker has the largest rake than most other sites. A large sum of that money goes to funding the big promotions they have on there site like the 12000$ splash they are having now.

You have the choice, there are many good other poker sites.

But in promotions - 888 is one of the best.

It's a pity, that the software and tech department is not the best.

888 could be so great if they would have such bright IT guys like pokerstars.

Well, they didnt increase all rake by 100%. Just at these micro S&Gs.
Its now on rate usual for other poker rooms (if they even have such low games).

And I dont mean any offence, but how much of those S&Gs per hour you play, to help buy Chelsea?

25% is the 'rate usual' SnG rake at those stakes? Seems ridiculous.

When I first started playing online (2007), one of the sites I joined was DoylesRoom where I could play 10cent sng's that had only 10% rake charged. These were STT-SNG, reg. or turbo speed & were quite popular. The play in them actually seemed better than the $1 games on some of the other sites.
They also seemed to be quite popular with older folks (& retirees) as there was often table chat going on in the games (< can you imagine? players actually used to converse with one another on the tables in 'public' games).

Why wouldn't a site want to offer cheap rake on a super micro buyin? I would see it as an alternative (addition) to freerolls, where players can get a better feel for the site & potentially move up in time.
