I assume, you earn points by generating rake not by winning money. In theory it is possible to generate a lot of rake from a balance of 8$, but you need to get very lucky and hit an upswing almost right away. Its really better to see it as an extra rakeback, you are offered in the beginning, and make a reasonable deposit of at least 100$. There is nothing wrong with this, since obviously poker sites can not survive by literally giving money away.
