Hi,
I've not been around for a while and haven't played poker on-line for about 6 months or so and I just got an email from 888 telling me that if I don't log in and play they will deduct my acount by 10% every month.

Shocked isn't the word and they have the crassness to wish me luck and offer me regards.

I think I know what I will be doing with my account.

I've heard of this happening before, didn't realise this happened on 888 though.

To be honest though, I think it's good they do actually tell you I'd imagine some sites just taking money without sending out a warning email first because I think it costs them to keep you money online and when there's no activity it's costing them money. That said, I think if I wasn't going to be playing for a long while, I'd withdraw most of my roll rather than it sat there.

I had a similar thing happen at party poker a few years back. Simply told them to go ahead as I had so little left there anyway plus I couldn't get into my account because of a pc virus.
Haven't been there since.

I didn't realise it cost them money to keep my roll there. I've not got very good internet connection at present and bought a google chromebook which doesn't support 888 download. Regarding the money, I always intended to play more and actually quite liked having it there as a little rainy day cash.
I just found the tone of the email rather rude and somewhat threatening in a way. Would like to hear what their rep on here has to say.

Ew. Just ew.

This is a bit ridiculous in my opinion. I mean who cares how long your money sits with a company. I don't see how the cost of keeping my money there is so much that they need to do this. I mean the amount off of rake and tournament fees aren't enough??? I bet they just see money sitting there not paying rake or tournament fees and just aren't happy about it (greedy @#$%^&).

I could understand maybe forfeiture of money after like 2 years of inactivity. Maaaaaaybe... but a 10% cut after 6 months is a bit silly to me. I will be sure to not put any $$ with sites that do this.

Never heard of this on 888 before. I have come across it on other sites. Seems a bit over the top. It does not cost them anything to keep your account open and I assume it is simply a tactic to try and get people playing again. Seems to me that it is more likely to alienate people.

Well something totally different happened to me. I was at partypoker, I hadnt been there for over 6 months. Then I got an email from them, which said, they have put 10$ on my account for free. I know 10 bucks aint nothing, but for free..?? Just to get me playing again on their page..?? For me that was a great move..

Well so far did not get a email from then telling me that but if they cut 10% of my bank rol they will be well payed maybe 4 cent :proud:
But Pkerstars did put $10 in my account free and another 10 in bónus that´s why they rule the market and are the biggest poker site around

It doesn't cost them money, but its their regulation, every year internet poker base is becoming smaller and smaller, so this is just a ridiculous measure they are taking against it.

Never heard of this but if they put me in this situation I would tell them to close my account, there are enough poker sites in the market to not think twice about it

I had william hill threaten the same thing after I hadn't been on there for 2 years (sports betting). I forgot I even had money on there. I bet the £8 or whatever it was on Uruguay to beat England and withdrew my winnings. That was alright.

I got a few of those e-mails from other online poker rooms. It's good if they informed you about the inactivity fee. There are some online poker rooms that won't inform you and will simply take the money from your account.

Little hard to believe , all this nonsense that withdraw the money for inactivity..

Write that let them show in terms and conditions room , there will not be this sure...If not show , then tell what you are going to complain...

It so ridiculous to take 10% of your bankroll for inactivity fees.
It's just another way to take our money ...
I like 888 Poker but for this problem and for the enormous exchange fee they deduced when you withdraw in another currency , i begin to change my mind ...

I got the same from Party Poker few years back and I told them to **** themselves. Way to lose a customer forever and also make a guy actively discourage anyone else from playing there (and yes there are always people who listen to such advice).

The whole idea is preposterous since they have zero costs and probably can earn interest on the money (they only need to keep that account separate from corporate funds).

It is super ridiculous for them to take money from your account. It costs them nothing to store it in an account on their end. It is just another scam that poker sites do to screw the player over; they literally get away with everything. That being said, there are tons of sites that do this and seems to be more the norm, which is quite sad.
