888 disappointment

I found out today that all of the sudden I cannot play at 888 anymore.
Here's the answer I got:

So sad, as I liked this site as I had liked PartyPoker before which also stopped doing buiseness here some years ago.
Another point of disappointment was the way I got to know about it.
I tried to log in to my account and received an error message. I contacted support and some hours later that was the answer I got. In my opinion, a site that respects its customers should warn them in advance with a deadline announced in a personal e-mail.
Well, I hope that at some point both sites will come to terms with the Gambling Commission as Pokerstars did and they are allowed to offer services in Greece again.

Not a professional move at all and that happened as you have mentioned out of the sudden. I have some funds in my account too , at some point I will contact CS if I can withdraw them.

FYI you can still access the software via browser's VPN if you have anything last to do. What a pity I used to like 888 as well although I was suffering from ''variance's'' bad beats.

Its a sad situation and i can understand the frustration. 888 stopped to operate in my country too and it was a big dissapointment for me since i liked to play there very much. But sometimes you cant do anything and you have to accept it how it is. Fortunately, there are other sites out there. Cheers.

I had $90 at GreySnow and got the same type message a few months ago. What happened was they moved from US to Isle of Man...they dont accept Philipinne Players. So many requirements (like make a deposit) and time frames to withdraw I finally gave up. It was all freeroll money anyway Im a no deposit player.

Many times tried to load 888, all useless. Breakfast room is loaded without problems, but there are other identification. In general, 888 steel sucks for me.

I haven't played on 888 in a while, myself, does it still have all those cute animations such as throwing an egg or a trophy at your opponents?

I wonder if they delete ALL the accounts with greek players or if it's just you.

It is important that a pokersite clarifies clearly their policy in certain jurisdictions. It is a frustration indeed to play in a site and then just suddenly account gets closed. Better to not get in at the very first day than get locked out without a warning.

I guess that as long as it is a jurisdiction issue, all Greek accounts would be restricted. I just don't understand why. I mean pokerstars sorted it out with the Commission, why couldn't Party and 888 figure it out too?

In the beginning online poker was unregulated pretty much everywhere, and sites operated out of places such as Cayman Islands or an indian reservate, that had its own gaming commission. As national regulations come into place, sites either have to comply, leave certain markets or segragate their player pools.

This happen all the time, and from the perspective of players its generally not great. That being said if greek players can play on PokerStars, then just play there for the meantime, and if you only had 9,09$ in your account, you cant have been putting in a lot of activity on 888 anyway

I hear you buddy, that's how party poker decided to shut down Serbia in August this year and how it looks like i guess we are next to join unwelcome list at 888 Poker as well. Anyway, cheer up, there is a plenty of places where we can still play, so the game is still going

So I’ve also been on Titan for 2 years since I can’t play and stop by. The site did not want to pay the proposed tax to our state. I had to withdraw money. But before that, a month in advance, I accidentally found out that the site was leaving Ukraine.
