I have just received the bad beat of a lifetime.

I signed up on 5Dimes 3 years ago, after a poker friend said he plays there and it was an "ok" site. I did a little research and saw they had high ratings as a sportsbook. Also I was not too concerned as I was playing recreationally.

I was told by customer service that I could play the weekly poker freeroll and was good to go. I took 3rd? in the first one I played. I used those winnings to play real money tables sporadically over the next three years building up my bankroll to about 800 dollar. I probably paid a couple thousand in rake over that period. Last Friday I was playing a NL25 badbeat jackpot table, and the unthinkable happened. My quad eights were rivered by a straight flush. I was in shock as I am a working stiff and this is more money than I make in a year. After the win all I thought about was paying off credit cards and paying down a good chunk of our mortgage.

For 5 days there was no issue. And then I got home from working overtime on New Years Day to find the funds confiscated. They tried to say that it was because I did not deposit. I specifically asked about this when signing up and carefully read the terms of service. They did not argue that I could not play free rolls, but switched to line in the TOS that I could not take advantage of the site. I did not even play many freerolls after that because it is after my bedtime, and I had built a bankroll on cash tables.

Do not play this site because I have now dug deeper and am finding out that they like to confiscate funds when someone wins a lot of money.

Let me state that I have never done anything against the terms of service, nor have they said I have. (besides taking advantage of them by playing a free roll they told me I could play!) They let me continue to play for three years.

I just "liked" your post - that's a bit of a twist.

As I've told you, I got nothing. Here's hoping someone can help, even a little.

Just a suggestion as I have no idea if you have an recourse. But if you want to spread the word I would hit up every forum I could find online - join each so you can post and give your story as emotionless as possible.

The fact that they confiscate your funds if you do not deposit is a "red herring". Will be interesting to see if others have any input about the site. Just did a quick search on 5dimes poker twitter and second result was this twitter feed:

5Dimes Scam

I feel for you that really sucks man - hope you get some kind of retribution

As someone who has never deposited on a poker site as well, but have built up a bankroll from nothing.. This concerns me.

Since you have posted this on 2+2 as well I see some truth in to this.
Honestly it's better for you to follow up on this on 2+2 cause you won't get much help regarding that here.
Someone mentioned there that you should post it on Ingram's thread(ChicagoJoey). He has a ton of influence in the community so it'd be for the best.

Dear Pablo,

It's so bad to know that some guys still making this kind of thing in the internet..

Because of it, I only play in the poker stars... I know that have other trusty sites, but this is my choice...

You must know that no one gives money free, always you are paying it for another way... So if there are a lot of freeroll and you don't need to do nothing for that, be careful...

Thanks for the help to everyone who has responded. I posted in the Joey thread. Is there a better way to reach him? I was thinking about trying to reach out to him yesterday but could not find a particular contact, and didn't want to get in trouble for posting improperly at 2+2 as a new member.( I have perused the forums for about 12 years). I don't think I have the ability to private message there.
It is amazing that they can change the rules and swipe this money unfairly. I guess it took them 5 days to figure a way to do it too. I actually spent the first day or two not getting my hopes up, because I could sense that they were going to try slow pay me or something.
BTW... They have not put the money back in the bad beat jackpot.

I checked the internet archive and this "rule" did not exist up to a year ago, and I signed up 3 years ago.

5Dimes is known to refuse large cash-outs. They also despise "freeroll scum".

Hey Pablo,

Ask to speak directly to "Tony" and tell him exactly "You will permanently lose your networks reputation.I need to be paid out what is owed to me because I am not "freeroll scum" I have paid thousands of dollars in rake. "

This works mate. If they offer you a portion of your win in exchange for dropping the claim take the portion in Ether open a MyEtherWallet then continue the claim AFTER you get paid something in crypto.

ChicagoJoey can usually be reached via twitter as a side note.

I can't tell if you are joking or not. Tony was "kidnapped" and "killed" a few months ago.
Google "5dimes Tony".

Not joking. They made me speak to Tony when I tried to cashout freeroll winnings about 11 months ago never got my $242.
Well if he is really dead he deserves it...seems strange to me.

They closed my account there but allowed me to transfer to the sportsbook and made me do some "play through" think I bet the cowboys to win and the cowboys to lose etc. Then I withdrew all my funds. Hopefully they pay you your money.

I hope so too. But I think they are looking at this as an easy chance to snag 50k+. While I have been googling, I have found instances of them trying to stiff people. In some instances they did relent, but they seem pretty dug in. You think they would not want to risk their business reputation on this.

BTW... They have not put the money back into the bad beat jackpot. Just a scam to not have to pay out. This rule did not exist, and they think they don't have to pay big wins because there is nothing we can do. I hope this costs them much more in business and reputation than just being responsible for what players have rightfully won.

This is disgusting, I hope you get some luck in retrieving your legitimately earned winnings.

It's stuff like this that discourages me from playing anywhere besides PS.

Of course PS aren't whiter than white but as they're the market big boys I feel I can trust them more than any smaller sites..

Costa Rica. There is no regulatory body to stop them from doing this to players. They will free roll players when they think they can get away with it.
