Well it's about a week or so until tourist season really opens up in Atlantic City and I'm guessing a lot of other casinos are in the same situation. I'll be headed down tonight to the Borgata, although I'm not sure what the poker:drinking ratio will be since we're all celebrating a friend's birthday.

Anywho, my friends and I got a house in Sea Isle City (NJ) and we're usually down for poker or an AC trip if anyone wants to meet up sometime or get a CC trip going.

In the mean time I figure we could use this thread as a place to post trip reports in the AC area or at any casinos for that matter. (I realize the target market for this thread might be small, but it's worth a shot).

What's the stud/horse action in AC like? I'd think a mixed game session would be more fun live where I can't multi-table NLHE. And I'm definitely due for an AC trip this summer.

Not sure when that was last updated.

I think you can find 1/3 or 1/5 stud in most rooms, I'll report back after the weekend.

I don't think getting a HORSE game together is going to work unless you know a guy who knows a guy that killed someone.... at least in the casinos.

For one, it's illegal to spread low-only games in AC... anyone wanna get some HOSE?

Also, if you do get that game organized ur probably gonna be paying the casino a little extra cash since I would think you'd need or at least want one of the top dealers at your table. My god, that would suck to have to be a dealer at a casino HORSE game now that I think about it.

Never thought about that. How about one of those mixed 8-games? No way I guess, it cannot be easy. U R Serious? Against the law to spread razz? WT....???? Would love to hear the rationale for that one. I would gladly meet up in AC. The buses here don't go to the Borgata, but the jitneys do. I usually just hang on the beach and do a few slots. The poker rooms are intimidating to me, and I don't like NLHE, so the stakes for Omaha are typically a lot more than I wanna spend.

I live about a 1/2 hr from AC and, between all the players I know, I've never heard of or seen a HORSE game. But who knows...maybe.

Yeah I play down in AC pretty frequently and I've never seen a HORSE game, but you're right it's pretty easy to find a Stud game at most of the major poker rooms.

Real brief trip report:

Ended up leaving the club MurMur late in the night ditching my friends to play cards. Didn't stop until around 6:30 AM when the sun was coming up.

I played pretty wreckless, and made a few mistakes, but in the end i ended up around 225...paid for my room and part of the bill at the club so not bad. The more I play live the less intimidating it is and honestly the stakes are so much easier to beat in relation to online...not even funny... And of course completely sober is even easier...

U R Serious? Against the law to spread razz? WT....???? Would love to hear the rationale for that one.

Well the law doesn't openely state "RAZZ IS AGAINST THE LAW!!! EVIL STAY AWAY!" It's just that you can only spread games that the law states are allowed to be played, and Razz isn't one of them...

Yeah I play down in AC pretty frequently and I've never seen a HORSE game, but you're right it's pretty easy to find a Stud game at most of the major poker rooms.

Nice...yeah I was a little cross eyed when I first entered the poker room so I didn't exactly get to scope out the Stud scene for C9, sorry.

Beefcake, you told me you play at Harrah's....how's the action over there, # of tables running, level of fish?

Depends on the time of day you go, but on a regular night there's at least 5-6 tables going. Like I told you, it's a pretty easy game. Competition level is not that high and I've done fairly well there. Only reason I lost the last time is because I had AK push ME all in when I had AA and he flopped broadway. For the most part it's a nice room, they have a few tournaments (I don't recommend them, total donk fest, buy in is like $80 and you get 10,000 in chips).

Lik, do you remember where you heard/read that? I always wondered why the wsop-C never had a HORSE event (although I guess that would be allowed) or no one spread Razz. I just assumed it wasn't popular enough.

As for Stud in AC...the Taj always has Stud games going. Usually you can find a 1/5, although there is almost always bigger Stud games going. I think like 10/20, 15/30, etc. Obviously that's too much for a weekend person (usually).

The 1/5 is ok, but you do get some crazies playing in it.

Dive, you shouldn't be intimidated by a live room. Once you went a few times, I'm sure you'd feel at home there. If you don't like NLHE, a 2/4 Limit game is a nice way to get used to live poker. Or if you want a lower Omaha option, the Taj usually has 2/4 Limit Omaha H/L running.

Reason there's only 5-6 is because they have some 2-4 limit, some 1-2 NL a few 1-5Stud and one or two 2-5 NL. They have other limit games too but most of them don't run much.

I agree about the live game. It's much easier once you get used to playing live. I actually started out playing live and then went to online so the transition was opposite for me. Starting out at 2/4 limit is a great way to get used to playing live, but trust me don't stay there long because it is definitely a chaser's game!
