My 1st ever live MTT
So I went to vegas this weekend and entered my 1st real (non home game) MTT ever. It was a a $35 buy in with over 65 players at the Excaliber. I doubled up the 1st hand I played (My AA actually held ) and it sorta took off from there. I was one of the chip leaders for the whole tourney. I played well and caught my miracle card when I needed it too.
I made it to the final table and there was 5 of us left and I pushed preflop (big blinds) with pocket JJ and got called by AA and QQ! The flop and turn were blanks and the river card was no other than a Jack. I felt bad about it, but I had taken a few bad beats myself so what comes around goes around I guess.
So with 3 left I had 7,8o on the BB. SB called, I checked and we saw a flop. It came 5,5,8. I checked it and the guy literally shoved all his chips in as fast as he could. I hadnt seen him do it like that all tourney and I just couldnt buy it. I told him all I could beat is a bluff but I just had to call his all in. He ended up having like a q2o or something. He didnt hit. This is the 1st time Ive ever risked that much on a read before and it worked out. That left 2 of us and we were pretty much equal as far as stack size and we agreed to chop 1st and 2nd for $543 each. Not bad for my 1st live tourney, eh?
