Cardschat.com Freeroll Information

Well first of all, for the beginners, I'd like to give a quick definition of a freeroll:

Quote:
This term applies to poker tournaments where the entry fee, the stakes, or both the entry fee and stakes are waived. Cash prizes are also offered.
Every Monday (starting from February 7th 2005) at 7.30pm GMT (2:30pm EST) we will host a freeroll with a $50 cash prize pool for the top few positions. There will be a relatively low number of players in this freeroll, somewhere between 15-25 (depending on popularity). If this event is very very popular we will consider putting on more regular events that can hold more people, and maybe even have a larger prize fund.

We are offering this in conjunction with Noble Poker, a great new online poker site, with some incredible software, the graphics are absolutely fantastic.

What are the requirements for entering? The only requirements that we have are that you are a registered member here and you have made 10 QUALITY posts. Spamming the forums does NOT count towards your posts and these will be removed (you will be banned). Once you get 10 posts we will give you permission to view a secret forum that contains the password for the freeroll. (Please note that once you have 10 posts, give the site an hour to update your permissions, then when you view the main page you should see a secret forum named "Cardschat.com Freeroll". If you have any problems either reply to this thread or start a new one in this forum.

Not only are we offering a freeroll, but thanks to Noble Poker we are offering you a free $10 of credit that may be collected when you have registered to the poker site and added a credit card (no deposit needed). For more information and to get the software for download, click here.
NOTE: The $10 free offer is ONLY for new players who visit using the above link, or click the banner below, if you are an existing member or find their site through google, then you are not eligible for this bonus.

Instructions:
Click on the link above and get to the Noble Poker page...
Download the software and signup
Login to your account and click the Tournaments and then Scheduled tabs.
Scroll down until you see "Cardschat.com" in the far left column
Make sure you have 10 posts on Cardschat.com (You can check by clicking
Quick Links at the top of the page and then My profile).
Click here to find out the password to the freeroll
Click back onto the Noble Poker software, click the row with the Cardschat.com freeroll in it, press register and enter the freeroll password
You can now participate in the freeroll tournament on Monday.

For future events all you will have to do is visit the Scheduled Tournaments tab and enter the password again.

To get the free $10 all you need to do is enter your credit card details, Click Cashier > Deposit > Register New Credit Card.... you should now have $10 in your account. If you have any problems feel free to bring them up here and the Noble Poker rep will address them. All new depositors to Noble Poker will also get a 25% sign up bonus in addition to the $10 free money and you are invited to join the massive $5,000 depositors freeroll tournament on the 5th of February.

If you have any questions about this feel free to post in the players lounge. A representative from Noble Poker shall be joining the boards within the next few days to answer any other questions you may have.

UltimateBetUltimate Bet are one of the older poker sites on the internet with a great range of games to play and a 111% poker bonus with the bonus code CARDSCHAT.

Absolute PokerAbsolute Poker offers online poker games to US players with a $500 sign up bonus.

spluff, the first freeroll is next Monday and it's restricted as you need 10 posts on cardschat.com to get the password for the freeroll.

Who funds freerolls?
is it the site itself or is it by like a sponsor
ive never understood how they make any profit off that

Chuck: It can be either the site or the sponsor, it really depends the deal that's been made... if at anytime you want to hold a freeroll usually most sites will happily host you one if you put up the prize money.

they make profit by people playing on their site

the more people that play the more they will make

giving out incentives to encourage people to play again will attract customers, even if some just play in the freerolls it doesn't really add up to that much money as most of them will use that money to play on the site with anyway

have you ever heard the expression spending money to make money, its that principle at play here, the negative loss on those players who just take the money and run is more than made up by the benefits it provides

Besides they will make money even off the winning players as they take a rake from every pot. At the end of the day if they didn't make any money from the venture, I am sure you wouldn't see it.

Lets all be thankful for noble poker for providing us with the freeroll and long may it continue!

Yep there sure will, as long as this one is a success then we will have them weekly, if not then it'll be bi-weekly. Tell all your friends to come here and signup so we can make this freeroll a success and in the near future have two weekly freerolls with higher prize pools

this is just a suggestion
if possible, try to keep the # of players allowed to register down to a minimum
i mean those freerolls with 1000+ players are always a pain in the @ss and arent exactly the easiest things to beat
they also take forever
it would encourage more ppl to pplay
.. i think i just contradicted myself. lol
im just sayin a freeroll with 25 ppl where the top 3 are awarded is much
more enticing than a 2500 person freeroll

Don't worry, we have no plans of allowing more than 50 people in our freeroll, if we ever did then the prize money would have to be a lot more

Yea thats good, when theres 1000+ people its extremely tough due to the maniacs and kamikazes. If there's less people then maybe people will play serious from the start.

Nick,

Can we have point system for the weekly tournaments to determine best overall player on this forum. IMHO, this will add more excitement and higher interest in playing every week.

Thank you,

Ernest

Wow, that is one hell of a good idea. I'm wondering on how we'd implement that, something like points for the top 8... 8 points for coming top... .7 points for coming second.... 6 points for coming third etc?

like the idea of a points table, gives us all the chance to bitch or boast.personally i think the winner should get 5 points more than 2nd and then 1 point difference between 2nd and 3rd,3rd and 4th etc.all final table players getting in the points.

Yep bigjace you're right, first position does deserve some extra points seeing as they are the winner. Let's wait for other peoples views on how this will work before we finalise the plan.

Duke14: Don't worry, we've all got a chance. If your a newbie that's even better because you'll gain experience without spending money.

A point system sounds like a good idea to me, everyone will know who the top or most consistent players are.

The point system does sound like a great idea. Especially if these are going to happen every other week or so.1- 10 points
2- 7 points
3- 5 points
4- 3 points
5- 1 point

Thats what I would suggest
