Dale Philip @Daleroxxu · 3h Just been dropped from pokerstars for the goal celebration against Spain. Not the best news before an 11 hour flight.
Tweet from the lad himself,

(Load of nonsense of course, IMO looks like they were just trying to find a reason to sack him. I thinks its more to do with a lack of results and not being at the wsop wearing the patch. Some of his tweets in the past have been a bit close to the line of respectability.)

I'm sure he will bounceback, young and talented. Good luck on his new adventures to Dale

If it was a job in the real world, surely a case for unfair dismissal, maybe different rules for the cyber world!!!!

I love Dale! I found him to be very humorous and thought he would be a team pro for a long time. Very sad to see him go, I hope he still keeps his blog up

Who? I mean I looked him up and I still have no idea why anyone would even know he exists? Maybe I'm missing something?

He has been a PS pro for a very long time and is very well known. He has over 32k twitter followers so somebody besides me has heard of him ;)

His twitter account has all the details including a video of the 'incident' and there is being a lot of anti Pokerstars sentiment rumbling about it.
He is the only pro player who follows me on twitter after I responded to one of his blogs and as he is young enough to be my son I have tried to be a mentor for him.
Pokerwise he has done very little recently which is probably why he isn't well known in the USA but he is known to be a strong Omaha player.
His treatment over the matter is a total over reaction by Stars who it appears cannot let a young man have a bit of harmless fun.

That was it? Lawl. People over here take football way more seriously than that. I know people that have been stabbed simply for walking down a street with the "wrong" football top on.

I haven't really heard much about him, and recently seemed to have heard even less. I suppose PS wanted to drop him and this provided them with the opportunity.

Dude can't beat PLO50.....

He has been living on borrowed time for awhile...

I am so glad I barely use twitter; 32k follow a washed up SNG donk?

Scary world.

I would guess it was not about celebrating, but taunting, and while wearing the PS patch/gear.

Really can't understand it.
Negreanu has done worse.
and even Matusow was never sacked by a sponsor.

As has been pointed out Dale wasn't that well known, as his blog shows his package wasn't very big and didn't cover the major tournaments,
and they could quite easily have just not renewed him in 6 months.
All very strange.

Recently In a meeting with poker stars reps I kind of hinted towards a question about Dale about 2 or 3 weeks ago, and tbh my questions were kind of shunned off you could say.

Honestly after this incident, I truly think they have been looking for a reason to get rid of Dale, and this is just their public escape goat IMO.

I mean the guy complains about having to pay for his own food when travelling the circuit and having the company comp his buyins and hotels....
Sorry Dale :p

Daleroxxu canned!

I was away from the pc for a day or so and just opened it, checked the news and found this:
https://www.cardschat.com/news/pokerstars-drops-dale-philip-over-world-cup-whoopla-4328

Being a fan of the guy's bloggaments and a follower of him in twitter, I knew he had some trouble as he was in Marbella, Spain when that match and the celebration in question took place. Being a mediterranean and a football fan, I knew how that was perceived by the spaniards, I mean celebrating their defeat (actually it was more than that, it was a disaster) in their faces and in their home, okay is too much, I'd expect a reaction, even a water bottle or a beer can swish right past his ear. I would be furious too in their spanish bitter shoes.
I mean ANY reaction from the spanish fans, even some almost physical would be expected - NOT condoned or justified. But from THEM. THEY were sorry, angry, offended, defeated, disgraced. Then comes Pokerstars and terminates his contract for being out of line in his celebration, which is not tolereated for a Pokerstars ambassador.
Here's Dale's blogament and the video of the incident:
http://www.daleroxxu.co.uk/2014/06/dropped-from-pokerstars.html

Really, people, being a hot-headed Greek and a fan myself I find this celebration a rather modest one. I mean I wouldn't even raise an eyebrow for that. I've seen testicles, bottoms, middle fingers and "upyourse" in all matches I've watched. I even sometimes did some rather questionable gestures myself.
But as the company is a worldwide organization, I would like your opinions on the matter, as cultures and "proper" behaviour vary a lot.

How many of you find Dale's way offensive or unbecoming? For football that is, not for poker!
