Multi tabling software/ MT site question.

I play a minimum at 10 tables at stars, and up to 15 so far. I cascade and have trouble (lol, obviously I guess) with time outs. I have been unseated at good tables since I did not know I was sitting out. And it is hectic when I want to isolate 1 (or 2 or 3) tables to pay special attention.

So, now I have received windows 7 (@ Stu, yea I got it lol.)

I am thinking of getting either Table Ninja or Key Poker. Since I only play at Stars, either one would be fine. But TN only works at stars, and I was thinking I may play other sites in the future.

I play FR only ATM but will drift to 6 max in a couple of months. I play micro but if things go the way I hope - and I have a plan and outline that have low stakes as the goal - will get into low stakes maybe by Summer??

SO, what are the sites where multi tabling is good and easy at micro to low stakes? If anyone MT other site than stars, could you tell how many tables and what stakes and your experience and opinion of the site?

And any other alternatives to TN/KP?

There are some alternatives to them, but I don't think you will get everything out of them that you're wanting, at least not with one specific software package. I would say to go with KP and I think you'll be happy with it.

The only thing I don't like about KP is that it is subscription(yearly fee). But the one thing about it that gives it props over TN is that if you decide you want to move from Stars to say iPoker, you can.

i tile 15 tables on pokerstars seating 6oclock position on each table... that way i can see my hand on each table with no problem and position the special tables where i want.

I've never used table management software because I always tiled. I have a triple-monitor rig, all three running 1920x1200, so had no trouble tiling 16 tables across two monitors when I used to multi-table on FT, and running HEM and browser on the 3rd.

If I were to stack or cascade though, I would definitely be looking for something to help. I had considered TableNinja but I hear a lot of complaints with performance when you get a lot of tables going and are running a tracker+HUD.

I've heard a lot of good things about Hjalper over the last couple years -- it was actually originally written to support multi-tabling with an Xbox controller, but supports keyboard+mouse hotkeys too. Supposedly much less resource-intensive than TN. It's Stars only, however.

I will set up my 3 monitors (2x22'', 1x 24'') the day my parents in-law (so to say) leave for the Philippines on 2/4/2012 because they get tilted by me spending my whole leisure time "playing".

ATM I'm 10 tabling 2NL "stacked" w/o software help on a 19'' laptop and it sucks tremendously.

Edit: I use windows 7 so I can see active tables and usually don't time out... but it still sucks.

if you are timing out, just cut down on the number of tables until you develop your skills and can make decisions quicker

update: I am down to 4 tables. Will stay there for a while as well.

Yeah, if you're timing out from not keeping up, that's definitely the approach to take. You should be adding tables very slowly, and not adding another until the number you're currently playing is second nature.

That said, a lot of people who try stacking or cascading without software assistance find themselves timing out not because they can't react, but because the tables needing action don't always make it to the top of the stack. So they weren't aware that action was needed, then it sat them out and so they never got action again on that table. If that table never makes it back to the top then they never even know. Software like TN and Hjalper can fix such z-order and focus issues, sit you back in automatically if you're ever sat out, etc., so it minimizes these types of occurrences.

This is why I much prefer tiling as it requires no extra software to keep up, and you can see everything going on at a glance, but that's only feasible when you have very high-resolution and/or multiple monitors. When you're stuck with a single laptop display, for instance, you don't have much choice but to stack and that's where such software is a godsend.
