u playing in a freeroll,i would call. If he had a very big hand most probly would go for some value because he needs the chips so u know ist not AA KK QQ JJ, worst case it is a race, and u have to win a few races in Freerolls to cash. Lazmansa

if it was a freeroll id call lol since most hands a q a j are good in that situation cash game i would probably fold it unless in calling and losing your not going to take a big hit to your chip stack at that point i would be folding otherwise

With blinds still that low SS doesn't have alot to gain by shoving here (only 150 in chips), even if he has <10bb's. You also don't mention what position he's shoving from.... this makes a difference. You're not closing out the action... say you flat for 10bb's.. and then the SB or BB shoves over you?? you're f'd then. How does gaining the 1,000 chips affect our chances of winning the tourney compared to the effects of losing the 1,000 would be?? (<< something many don't seem to consider in tourney play). My guess... losing the 1,000 will have a far greater negative impact at this stage than winning the 1,000 would have for a positive impact. Get what I mean.

Don't know what tournament you are playing if the average chip stack is 2k in an MTT three from the bubble. It's an easy fold really, you are risking 1/4 of your stack to only gain 1k chips. You are only getting pretty much one to one to call wich is horrible odds for a call. Also, as someone else said if the SB or the BB shoves you are then screwed. You ran it in poker stove and it shows that AJ is a dog to the known range. Easy fold!!! Also, if I were to play this hand for some reason, I would never call in this spot, I would raise, most likely push with the stack size I have to isolate.

I agree with most of what the other have said. AJ really is just not all that great a hand when faced with an all in from even a short stack. If that short stack is tight there is a reason why he is short stacked and also a reason for the shove. If he was a lose maniac who had been raising a lot and gotten to being short stacked that way you might be inclined to contemplated the call. But, 3 from the money, you can find a much better spot to invest 1/4 of you stack on if you are only a coin flip, assuming you aren't behind. Plus as was mentioned. If the SB or BB shove after that you are pretty much screwed.

Kid just one thingy I don't understand - you put him on a shoving range AJo/s + pp and yet you think about calling/ shoving with AJo ? I don't understand that. So near to the bubble opponents (most of them at least) tighten up anyway if they're not co/button, so I consider shoves from early/mid position to be AQ /AK or pp . And noone tell me I looked at the results - they don't matter. Enlighten us: Why do you think so? I don't want to be smart - ass but since you seem to be sure about calling here there must be some reason we're all missing.

My reads are getting better. i know that if i was 1st to act, i would of raised with AJ, if he would of shoved i would of folded, knowing the hand range of a player. And at best i would have to use the top of his hand rang to take him out. Pokerstove has helped, on seeing the win % of a hand range. If i have AJ and see a raise before me i am folding. Quote:
AJ only seems to be good, if you can see a flop first. |
